And even while I'm living in the Catskills, I'd still managed to drive down and see him because he's that good. But, I had to start the search for someone new- which isn't easy after decades of loyalty Alas, I recently had an initial consultation with Dr. Nora, and it was more like a thoughtful Q&A than a rushed check-up. She's sharp, attentive, and clearly knows her stuff. I felt reassured by her knowledge and up-to-date expertise in dentistry. Pine Street Dental is located inside a multi-use medical building in Kingston, NY. The moment you walk in, you notice the spotless environment and that same level of cleanliness, carries right into the dental office itself. It's a well-kept, professional space that instantly puts you at ease. Dr. Nora's gentle touch and calm demeanor immediately put me at ease in the chair. She consistently checked in with yes/no questions, allowing me to respond non-verbally with a simple hand gesture while treatment was in progress. Plus, she made sure I felt heard, even when I couldn't speak. That kind of bedside manner, really sets her apart. Dr. Nora's care was so thorough and comforting that I left feeling genuinely grateful and surprisingly at ease about future visits. The records are poorly kept. They insisted I saw a female dentist whom referred me to an Albany prosthodontist, when a male dentist replaced the woman who left. He referred me. An implant was never crowned by them. Really?? No referral. I, subsequently, had seen three prosthodontists, including the last NYU (a true horror to get to in NYC traffic, but a fantastic expert). One destroyed crowns, the covid situation made it unacceptable to continue as the partner he worked with refused to see me when it was occurring. I never was exposed and had shots. Finally, NYU thought it would be minimally another $40K above $70K I already paid prior to this debacle. Upon trying to schedule a simple extraction, the chap who is their specialists was closed to new patients, although I had long been a long term patient of the practice. The first time I called Pine Street, the woman on the phone at the office said that cash was unacceptable since the practice only dealt with insurance. Okay, there is about zero paid under the majority of dental insurance plans so what do they expect? I call, get a person who tells me the woman was wrong. They can't do anything for me anyway. NO, THIS PRACTICE IS LUDICROUS! It seems that they have a few wonderful dentists and then forget it. read more

When I called to make an appointment as a new patient, they said there were no openings, except with a new doctor. The doctors information was not on the website yet, and when I asked for the doctor's background, they refused to answer. They told me to check back occasionally to see when the information was posted. The woman who answered the phone outright refused to call me back with some basic information such as date of graduation, school attended and specialty, etc. I refuse to make a new appointment with a doctor when we have no idea what their background is. So, I never saw anyone, because the handling of this situation unacceptable to me. read more

Share your positive experiences! Pine Street Dental: Yesterday I had my first root canal with Doctor Vong and his assistant Joann at Pine Street Dental. He was intelligent, explained all that he was going to do and all that he was doing as he did it. He was above all else gentle at his craft. My tooth was not agreeable at all. I needed extra numbing to be sure I felt nothing. Some of the root had calcified and it was a most difficult job for him. He used some cool techniques and technologies to be sure it was completed properly and they were both so kind. It was a wonderful experience and he explained that the pain could take three days to stop since it's invasive work. Today I have a teeny tiny bit of pain, my over the counter meds are working to erase that too. Pine Street Dental has a wonderful staff! Kudos to Pine Street Dental! read more

Used to be good, used to be fairly priced. Now, an assembly line. You can tell it's not a great place to work since the dentists don't even last long there. I used to see one dentist for several years and now that he's retiring, I see a different dentist every year. These days, its all about the money. The hygienist I see now is rude, lacks a chair side manner and is constantly recommending other services while cleaning my teeth. I need a water irrigator, maybe I should have those wisdom teeth out, I see some fillings that need filling (without an xray mind you). I was with them for years and now I am praying I can find a new dentist that doesn't have this money minded culture. Take note of the revolving door employees they have there and get an earful of how they operate from their old employees. This place is going to the dogs. read more

I can't speak about the other dentists in this practice but I have been seeing Dr. Yuen for more years than I can count. He is professional, caring, cautious, and everything else you'd want in a dentist. My whole family sees him and they would agree, we have every confidence in this dentist. Whoever the reviewer is that referred to him as "a sadist" has to be off their rocker, that comment couldn't be further from the truth. His assistant, Erin, is very personable also. read more

I hate, no -- despise, going to the dentist; and only go when I absolutely must. So this review should carry a lot of weight. Dr. Howe and his right hand woman Sissy were incredible on so many levels. First, they are gentle. Second they really listened, carefully. Third, they spent a lot of time explaining what was happening to my teeth; and fourth, the most important, they gave me all the facts I need to make a decision about what to do next -- from least expensive to a complete overhaul. I felt dealt with honestly and respectively. I don't know about "the revolving door" aspect mentioned by another reviewer here. But it seems to me young dentists who are new to the professional practice couldn't do better than cutting their teeth in such a place. Highly recommend. read more

After several bad experiences at another dentist, I reluctantly made an an appointment at Pine Street Dental. I saw Dr Howe and his assistant Sissy. They were great. Sissy explain that Dr. Howe was patient kind and understanding, and is great at explaining procedures that might need to be done. Dr Howe was awesome!! He had an excellent bedside manner. He explained everything he was doing and why. He told me what to expect. I was in the office several times and each time it has been easier and easier. I don't usually write reviews but good service should be rewarded with a THANK YOU and some praise. The office staff is also professional and friendly. The appointment setters waited until the day before my appointment to tell me I needed my old X-rays from a previous dentist for the exam or I would be paying for it out of pocket. Needless to say my old dentist was closed that day and I couldn't get them. Totally annoying since I had already taken time from work. Canceled the appointment and won't be returning. read more
