You can get lost if you venture off the trails. And you can get lost if you stay on the trails. You think you can't get lost on a loop, right? Well, now. The signage on the trails sucks. Period. We exited the forest at the wrong trailhead. Getting back to the correct trailhead parking lot was a separate adventure. Beautiful trail. Moose and deer. Falls...sometimes. And better luck to everyone following the signs.

The falls have been minimal and parking is scarce but it's a fine trail to take in the nature. Even though many on AllTrails said the trail was fine within the past few days, it was clearly iced over today. No worries, as we had our spikes with us. Well, one worry, as one of my wife's spikes decided to sabotage our day and start to tear. After fighting with it for 30 mins or so, we abandoned our attempts to continue on the trail. Other than today, the Evergreen Mountain Trail is one of our favorites in Colorado. The views from the top are amazing. I can't recommend it enough; however, if you're going this time of year, take your spikes...you'll need them.

I highly recommend coming here to bike unless you are a serious runner who can do the 12.4 miles out and back. It's definitely worth it to go the whole trail because the farther you go in the prettier it gets and the dam at the end is pretty cool! If you are a serious nature enthusiast there are campgrounds at the end of the trail. The only thing that is a con for me is I still haven't seen any big horn sheep on this trail! I have seen deer here though and plenty of birds. Tips: no dogs allowed.

The foothills rising along the far side of the creek were beautiful, and there were many young families enjoying the beautiful weather and kids splashing in the creek. We saw several people fly fishing, people picnicking at several tables, and a bunch of happy dogs. Map signs of the park indicated that there are more difficult hiking trails available. After our visit we had a terrific lunch at the lovely Blackbird Cafe in Kittredge, about a mile to the west.

This park claims that it is accessible. Reality is...I'm not an able bodied person. I use a walker/rollator to help me get around. Without it, I might as well be in a wheelchair. With it I can navigate the local stores and activities. This park has some accessible parking spots. One in each lot. There is a break in the fence wide enough for a wheelchair to make it through. But in reality no wheelchair will be able to access the pit toilets available for use here. You have to enter through a half door that can swing back and forth and then make a sharp turn to access the toilet. No regular wheelchair could make that turn. You'd have to have one of those electric scooters that can turn on a dime. But to even get to the bathrooms you have to make it out of the loose dirt and rocky parking lot. Then maneuver the uneven dirt/grass ground to the bathrooms. My rollator walker didn't stand a chance to even make it to the bathrooms let alone anywhere else in the park I couldn't access with our car. My husband looked up this place after our daughter came here on a school outing and loved it. He saw that it is listed as accessible, but the truth is, it is not. I wanted to make sure anyone who is disabled or injured could read my review and make a decision based on it. I gave the park a rating of two because my husband and daughter still enjoyed themselves. My husband isn't super able bodied (he uses a cane), so by using his walking/hiking poles he could get around nicely.

This review is specifically for the Eagles trail loop. This trail kind of kicked my butt. It's a…read morequick 700+ ft incline on the lollipop before you get to the loop. Then there's another 300+ ft incline while on the loop, including a final climb near the end of the loop before you start your descent. I'm not sure any of this trail is actually easy. Even the final descent is so steep, it puts lots of pressure on the knees. The trail itself was mostly covered in snow. Most of what didn't have snow was covered in slush or was mud. Very little of it was dry and easy to traverse. There's not a lot to see for most of the trail, as it's within the trees. However, about .5 mile of trail in the top of the loop has an open ridge view to the west, and it's pretty spectacular. No doubt we'll do it again, but will probably wait for better weather. Even though the trail was fairly easy to follow, there were still two spots where I missed switchbacks and had to circle back to find where I went off course. So the 4.2 miles of trail ended up as 4.8 miles for me. Tired, but I did it!
