They quickly changed out his reel and gave him pointers on where to fish. Here's where the story gets better: That afternoon my grandson tried to cast and his line became a complete tangle. We went back to West Marine and were helped once again by Thai. He proceeded to very patiently untangle and restring the line. He tested it and once again gave my grandson instructions on how to prevent line tangles, how to fix, how to do test drops. I was trying to place an order for my employer online, and the order kept getting rejected for some unknown reason. When I tried calling the corporate customer service number, the message informed me there is no help available over the phone, and to use their chat feature instead. I tried the chat feature, and the agent told me to try the transaction again. I did, and again the order did not process successfully. I thought I'd try my luck with speaking with someone at the local store, so I called the Alameda location and was lucky enough to get Leparish on the phone. He diligently worked on troubleshooting with me, confirmed there was indeed some issue with the payment processing, and instead of waiting on corporate to hopefully resolve it, he went ahead and packed up the items I needed right there at the store himself, and scheduled a shipment to my employer. He made sure I had all the pertinent order information I needed in my inbox before I got off the phone. He was helpful, patient, and courteous. Customer service like this is a rarity these days. These tennis balls are for massaging the bottom of my feet or at least the foot with plantar facsiitis which I am currently doing while writing this. I have purchased day packs, running hydration packs, shoes, socks, dumb bells, golf balls, pocket knives, ammo, yoga pad, shooting accessories, camping gear, other stuff and most recently today, tennis balls. Also, all the other sorts of sports equipement like baseball, basketball football ,etc gear. Always quick in and out and usually well stocked. The staff is pleasant and can answer my dumb questions. Disappointing assembly quality and warranty service…read more I bought a new road bike with Shimano 105 from Alameda Bicycle, but the setup quality was very poor. Right at pickup, the hydraulic brakes felt spongy. The mechanic told me to just ride it out, but after 100 miles of riding, it hadn't improved. During those rides some issues were also revealed: the shifting was rough, the drivetrain was noisy due to poor alignment, and a twisted brake hose was rubbing and scratching the frame. I brought it back under their 90-day guarantee, but the shifting and noise came back worse, and the brakes weren't addressed at all. I eventually spent hours fixing everything myself after purchasing tools and watching countless guides on YouTube. Lots of bubbles came out when I bled the brakes. Now that I properly bled the brakes and adjusted the derailleurs, the bike works great. No thanks to Alameda Bicycle though. Very disappointing build and service for a brand-new purchase.

The weather in the parking lot scared away some, as the wind made it pretty chilly, but once in the kayaks and on the water, the wind was knocked down substantially and the paddling was easier than they described it to be. Water resistant clothing would certainly help, though I just wore shorts and a sweatshirt. It was nice that they were so careful and thoughtful, but none of us felt cold at all the entire time. We had a harbor seal join us for part of our tour and the views of the USS Hornet and SF in the background was pretty sweet. Great memories and pictures to take home. Thx to all!
