After I got sick 7 years ago, things weren't great on the FICO front for us. He asked honest questions like, "How much do you want to spend on mortgage a month?" And gave us a selling price to focus on based on our answer. We found the house we absolutely wanted and our mortgage came in $100 under what we said we wanted to spend.
