This has been an all time favorite brewery for both my husband and myself for many years. We lived in St. Pete and would frequent this establishment with our young puppy, Stella. We even laughed that her picture was on the wall sometimes. Now, shes almost 8 and has a younger brother, who we were able to introduce this past week. The establishment has changed but only for the better. They had a wide variety of beers, seltzers, and non-alcoholic options on tap. They have a food truck that was absolutely delicious and more space than they used to. Their merch is always top tier, too! Highly recommend this place. read more

And they capitalized on it with a fun dog theme to their brewery... - This place is dog friendly AND cat friendly I have it on good authority that anything but snakes and spiders is generally welcome... I had the puppy breath IPA and it's great it's their hazy ipa with nice fruit notes not too bitter and still a 7%abv not bad... They have ample seating, indoor and outdoor and OK amount of TVs but you'd probably be more focused on your dog when you're here they have a small stage outdoors for performances and it looked like they had a separate indoor venue. I got there late and couldn't exactly explore, but it did have a sign that said event so maybe it's for reservations or Other events. Overall this place is great. Staff is friendly. Beers are tasty. They have two old-school dart boards with the metal tips and boardgames which if you know me is a key component and they're also off the beaten path so there's not as much drunk and madness if you were to come on a weekend. Came here on a Wednesday night for trivia and it was so fun! We sat outside and got food at the food truck. The burritos were good but a little pricey ($16). We didn't know before hand, but it looks like you can bring your own food in actually. I got a cider and it was very good. We will probably be retuning for another night of trivia! read more

My partner and I visited pinellas ale works and unfortunately did not feel we were treated with the same courtesy as other guests at the bar. I'm not going to make assumptions, but the difference in how we were approached and spoken to was noticeable. There was a very kind female staff member who offered me two small tastings from their large beer list, which I appreciated. However, my partner had a different experience. He asked to taste a few beers before committing to a full glass, and instead of being accommodated, he was abruptly told to purchase a flight. He didn't want a flight, as that's multiple ounces, he simply wanted a small taste before ordering a pint. He's a big beer drinker if IPAS. Later, when I asked to TASTE ANOTHER beer, the male bartender rolled his eyes at me. It was clear from his overall demeanor that we were not welcome, even though the bar was nearly empty. I won't be returning, and I would not recommend this place based on the service we received. THE FRIENDLY girl bartender did acknowledge my request and offered a Taste (2 teaspoons)z We ended up going across the street to Cage Brewing, where the staff was friendly, welcoming, and more than happy to offer small tastings without hesitation. It has been a number of years since I have visited this brewery. Met up with some friends tonight and it did not disappoint. They have a large selection of beers, a couple of ciders and seltzers along with kombucha. They just rolled out a pumpkin beer today. They'll let you sample whatever you want. Prices are reasonable. It is dog, friendly inside and out. We left before the live music started, but they did have live music this evening. Unfortunately, there aren't many shaded parts, so if you bring your pup, just be aware it can get hot! We ordered a few different beers to try. I really enjoyed their Strawberry Lemonade Wheat beer. Very refreshing! They also had a food truck there. May I suggest getting the Mac n Cheese bites? Trust me, you definitely won't be disappointed!! The nachos were also really good too. We frequent Pinellas Ale Works at least once or twice a month. There is nothing more irritating than hearing a bartender bitch about tips. Needless to say, we went in to paw today to try the carrot cake beer, which was absolutely delightful. The only thing that ruined it was this bartender bitching and moaning about the little tips he makes from people that have Bogo beers. Here's the thing PAW don't participate in those Bogo's and if you do try to curtail your bartenders that bitch about the tips that they're not getting. MAYBE ITS THE CRAPPY SERVICE THAT IS PRECLUDING THEM FROM NOT GETTING THE TIPS THAT THEY FEEL THEY DESERVE. read more

Pinellas Ale Works aka PAW is a fun, dog loving brewery with good beer and ciders. They have a good rotation, making it great to go back and try new things so we have been back several times now. They have beautiful artwork outside on their patio walls and there is an amazing mural on the back ally where there is a few parking spots. On Monday's they are currently doing Bandingo which is super fun with the selection of music played. Though that may vary depending on when you were born, we thought it was great though! Our first visit we tried Off the Leash, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Peach Lager and Wet Nose Wheat on our flight but we also tried Milk Bone Stout and Strawberry Cider. read more

I love breweries like this that have huge tap lists of interesting and varied beers. The bartenders were very kind and patient (and with that many beers - you'd have to be!) The flights only come in sets of 4, so we naturally had to do 3 flights to try a bunch of different beers. Some of my favorites included the Horchata (super cinnamony and delicious), the Neapolitan Stout (it seriously tasted like an ice cream scoop of all three flavors), the PUP'rmint Sweet Stout (I rarely see minty stouts on the market), and the Passionfruit Milkshake IPA. It's no surprise to me that they've won so many awards. It's a huge space and there was plenty of seating inside (didn't get to check out the outdoor patio since it was raining.) It was fun seeing all of the dogs come in and they had plenty of treats to go around. We enjoyed hanging out in the corner with the free metal tipped darts. It's nice that they are walking distance to some other breweries, but we definitely spent a decent amount of time here. Would recommend to a friend! read more

Dark beer lovers rejoice. From the moment I tasted their Milk-Bone Stout, I was hooked. Nothing I've tried since has disappointed me. This place brews up the absolute best dark beers in St. Pete, and their other beers like IPAs and lagers are great too. It's dog friendly so expect to pet some cute pups on your next visit. In fact, dogs are welcomed with mini Milk Bones and it's not uncommon to see a variety of friendly dogs both indoors and on their large patio space. The indoor space is clean with a large bar and ample seating. Unlike some breweries, this place is lively, upbeat and friendly. There's definitely not a grungy underground vibe, it's inviting for beer lovers and non-beer lovers alike. The bathrooms are clean and the service is always friendly. Outdoor is also spacious and a great spot to spend your Saturday afternoon happy hour. A food truck outside serves up Mexican grub like tacos and chips and salsa - but here, the beer steals the show. Things to know: there are at least 3-5 breweries within walking distance from PAW! For an epic Downtown St. Pete brewery tour, start here and make your way over to Cage Brewing, If I Brewed The World, Right Around The Corner, and then Grand Central Brewhouse in the heart of the Grand Central District to close it out. read more

I can't believe I'd never been here before. I've been to a lot of the breweries in the area, and this might be my favorite! They have a great space both indoor and outdoor with lots of smaller tables in the outdoor space and big communal tables on the inside. Their beer is a standout! I enjoyed everything I tried and they have an amazing and varied selection! I stuck with beer flavored beer this time and went with the Harold's (Lager) and the Piddle Pils (Pilsner). Both were excellent. They have SO much variety in their beers and can make any beer lover happy. Seriously - the selection is top notch, everything from light beers to barrel aged stouts, IPAs, they even have cider, seltzer and kombucha. While they don't offer food, they do have a food truck there Wednesday - Sunday and the food was really good. We got the chipotle chicken dip (highly recommend!) Their logo is a paw print (the breweries' initials spell PAW), their beers have names like PAWtoberfest, Doberman, Milk Bone, Sit, Off the Leash, Puppy Love and more. There are dog snacks on the table... I was so worried that I may reach for it by mistake. Afterall, when you are drinking, you crave munchies, and there's this big jar sitting right there... I bet some drunken guys have done just that! Staff is very friendly. Their beers have won awards, and the guy who served us are more than happy to let us sample. I tried a few, but nothing caught my fancy (just personal preference, not that they are bad), and without asking, the guy brought two more samples which he felt, from my comment, what I would like. Sure enough he was spot on! If the weather is not rainy or too warm, they have a lovely patio with a cute dog mural. There is also a barrel room, which dosn't have a lot of barrels in it yet and seems like it can be used for events. This place is within walking distance from the Imagine Museum (totally worth a visit) and the large bookstore. read more

Snuck in here the other day to escape the rain and boy was I pleasantly surprised! The bartender was friendly and helpful in picking out from their superb menu of beers (large variety of styles). Even got an appearance of one of the brewers and his dog. This is a very pet friendly brewery that also hosts many events from yoga, to bike tune-ups, to your very own event! Pinellas Ale Works (P.A.W.) has such a relaxing environment. The music was not overly bearing, they had an early 90s horror movie playing silently in the corner, fun darts as well as other games to play. I enjoyed two beers on this visit. My first was an Oak Aged IPA holding a 7% ABV. It had a strong hoppy bite, which is why I have been drawn to this popular ale. My second beer was recommended by both a fellow customer and the bartender, a Peanut Butter Porter. I usually don't like "food beers" but I have to say this beer was exceptional! This particular porter is so rich and satisfying. I highly recommend! Over all P.A.W. is a great addition to St. Petersburg and Pinellas County. One should definitely check it out! read more

I don't give out many 5 stars for a brewery, but this is an exception and I keep coming back because I get so happy when I'm here; They've been getting a lot more traction compared to a year ago.They have about 30 beer selections - a lot to choose from whether you like amber ale, lager, porter, sour, etc. There's so much room on the inside of the brewery that includes a couple long & high top tables as well as open seating at the bar along with a lot of additional seating outdoors where they have jenga and cornhole - love the strung up lights. I got the two most perfect beer, will def. reorder! MILK BONE PORTER (5/5): Damnnn - easily one of the most drinkable with a creamy and velvety taste - loved every sip that included a nice, sweet note. I go to PAW every so often after I finish up at the gym near there and it is always a treat after a good work out. My girlfriend and I really like the atmosphere here since it is normally not over crowded and the music is almost never blasting at you so that you can actually enjoy a conversation with the people around you. As a plus (and as the acronym suggests) it is super dog friendly. There are jars of treats all around for you four legged friends. They also have their own local brew dog named Jim. If you see this sweet lab, give him a pet and a treat. For the beer, they are never a let down. My go to is always the Smoke Dog, but there is always something new being brewed up for you to try. If you are a fan of Cage Brewing across the street, I highly recommend taking a walk over to check out this little gem. read more

The entire brewery is dog themed, from the beer names down to all of the decorations on the walls. But even better, we got lucky and found ourselves in the midst of a Pride Pup Crawl! I could have died happy right there! All of the dogs were out in their finest boas and rainbow-dyed coats and their owners were all just as happy to be out enjoying this event. We had such a great time chatting and petting all of the dogs going by with easily some of the best beer in town. While we loved spending time at the beach, our visit to PAW was definitely the highlight of our vacation to St. Pete. Don't miss out on this place if you love dogs and beer! read more
