When my Dell laptop would not power up I took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. They indicated the problem was not the internal battery or the charger but most likely with the internal circuitry. They quoted a potentially expensive repair but suggested maybe I should just buy a new computer. I was on the verge of buying a new computer for about $750 when I became aware of Pinellas Computer. I took my laptop there and for a diagnostic fee of only $60 they were able to get my Dell working again. The Geeks were going to have me turn this $1000 Dell into an expensive paperweight. I'm sorry. In most cases I would contact the business directly and tell them if they made a mistake, but in this case they almost cost me $2000 for nothing, so I feel I should tell other customers to get second opinions if they tell you your computer can't be fixed. I take it they'd rather not work on macs. They had fixed my mac before, they were expensive, but really nice, informative guys, so I went back. This time the guy pushed on my screen a couple times then told me some board was bad and it was $500 just for the part so it wasn't worth fixing. To get a refurbished macbook pro is $2000. A client of mine had a geek squad membership for 5 computers, but only had one, so she let me use her membership. They spent about an hour fixing it remotely. All the problems were fixed immediately. It has no problem starting up, it's running cool, and faster than I ever remember it running. It's like having a new computer. But as far as Pinellas Computers, I'm sure they mean well but maybe take your macs elsewhere. read more

We've used them since we moved to FL, 1st condo was right nearby. We're farther away now, but the guys are so nice we came back. (I've kept track of allll their names, lol). The laptop is only 2 yrs old but needed re-installs yada yada, & it's muuuch slower. However Doug is so nice every time I call back with a query, he helps remotely as much as possible. They charge $25 to provide same diagnostics that you can run off your BIOS. Advice provided was not helpful. They tried to upsell to a newer model laptop when clearly it was not required. Rates quoted to complete an operating system re-install and data migration was ridiculously expensive. Got better advice and work completed on my laptop at another service provider for a third of the cost they quoted. Don't bother with these guys. read more

Do not take your computer here! I took my laptop in for a quick fit, and they had it for 3 weeks before I got it back. Upon bringing it home, I had it charging for 20 minutes, When to smoke started coming out of it. I took it back up there, where they assured me that they would have it fixed quickly. I called four days later to check on the status of my laptop, and the owner told me that he had it all pulled apart and was working on it. Another 3 days went by, and I called again. When they told me that it still wasn't fixed, I told them to put it back together and I would come and pick it up and get a refund. This is when I was told that it was already together, After the owner had told me that he had it pulled apart and was working on it. These guys are hacks, and if you want your computer in working order, take it elsewhere. read more

I am self-employed and my computer equals income! The fan went bad, of course on a weekend, and all the places I called were not helpful, said it would take weeks to get back which was not remotely acceptable. I came across Pinellas Computers and called on a Saturday and spoke with Doug who was incredibly helpful and not only gave me hope but certainty I could get my computer back in short order. They went above and beyond and not only did they replace the fan but did a full diagnostic on my computer and handled a bunch of other software issues they found, did updates etc. The service and cost was amazing and I highly recommend them. Don't even call the Geek Squad... Anyway the next day my boyfriend had a problem logging in to his computer and I told him to call and they got it fixed and had him up and running again within an hour. I spend two nearly 1200$ on a computer from there and they promised to take care of me. Every time I took it in for diagnosis it was always 54$ here 70$ there. I could not keep paying for diagnosis' so I finally put it in a box and left it in the garage. Ended up going to Walmart and bought a new HP. Well I made the mistake of buying a refurbished Gateway laptop from Walmart.com. After 2 weeks it started giving problems. I contacted their warranty department and was given the run around. They then told me to go to any Walmart for a full refund. I went to walmart and was told they could not refund me because it had been over 15 days. By this time I am frustrated and take it to Pinellas Computers where they found multiple problems. I again tried getting it repaired through walmart's warranty dept to no avail. Having had enough I went back to Pinellas computers and they hooked me up with a brand NEW Toshiba Laptop cheaper than I had bought the refurbished one from Walmart. Plus they allowed me some money on trade in on Walmart's junk computer. I have nothing but high praise for Pinellas Computers. Whatever you do do not buy a refurbished laptop from Walmart. I recently had issue with this business in that their Invoice allows them to place their Logo on your Startup page, put a business specific screensaver on your machine as well as other things. Most if not all of this is not detrimental, but you have to read the fine print on their invoice, which I am informed allows them to do this. My specific instance was with a windows 7 reload and the placement of an ad on my windows 7 startup page. I had a lengthy discussion with someone from Pinellas Computer who offered to help me remove this intrusive ad. My problem is, legalize or not, why do it. It just tends to piss people off. So if you don't care what someone puts on your repaired machine, then they do a great job and quickly. If fine print as an excuse makes you mad, tell them not to do that. read more

I took my computer in a while back and the guy looked at it and said I need a DC plug, so I ordered one myself. I ended up having another computer so I just shelved it for a while until a friend needed a computer. I took the computer, the part, and the plug in. They installed the part for $130 (which, by the way, was the same price they quoted me originally, which included the part), then called me and said when they took the computer apart I had no RAM, and asked if I had taken it out! Umm, no. Now, the computer ran just fine until it wouldn't charge, so I questioned them. How did it magically have no RAM? So they charged me another $50-60 for that because they convinced me I needed it. (So computer gurus out there, tell me how when I got it home, I had all my old documents still on the computer if there was no RAM?). Then on the same call, they told me my charger wasn't charging sufficiently and I would need a new one--I told them no to that, and imagine my surprise when I got it home and that charger actually was working just fine (hmm). Won't go back, and certainly wouldn't recommend them. Next time I'll stand in line next door at Best Buy for their people. read more

Beware!!! Vey poor customer service. I bought a charger for my HP laptop and it was defective. It shorted out two outlets and then began to fall apart mechanically all within 3 weeks. When I brought it back, both techs were very rude stating they had to charge me for new one and that the damage was my fault. I was told it would take 200 pounds of force to do the damage that had happened to the charger. I was told it was not a good business decision for them to give me my money back. I took the charger else where and was told it was likely a manufactures defect. Beware of this place as all of their chargers have no brands on them or manufacturer or factory information. Big red flag! Any body can be nice with easy transactions but to become so nasty so quickly was inappropriate. read more
