Apparently, if you have a case that was created in the evening…read moreand the officer works, let's say from 10pm-6am, he can only update you between those hours. For someone who is in bed at that time, and had a simple, general question, the non emergency line was of no help. Crappy service from Jamie and Supervisor Max. Can't wait to get a phone call in the middle of my sleep, non coherent, about a very critical issue that happened. Horrible, this department is horrible.

Hung up. Professional ? No. Public record requests by law are to be given of reports videos body cams. Every request "denied by largo pd". largo of policy. Multiple units and officers is SOP for calls yet they routinely. Throw people to ground during arrest. Knee in neck and back u telling me 3-6 officers can't hold person and handcuff. I'd get it if single cop but in real world 5 on 1. Wouldn't that be considered chicken shit ? Fabricated. Not following. Both sides. Or evidence ignoring. Lies and not following reality. But writing reports Like raised ratchet in self defense against 3 people stealing a car yet that 1 arrested and that report edited to say. "Intended to kill!" Never hit anyone with it. Yet just sitting there And city hall maybe they offend you as you pay them. They could have been. Out writing tickets bringing revenue funds in ?hmmm yeah I could go on and on but I have nerve damage. From excessive force so gonna. Cut it short so. My week visiting with dept of justice . What can any one say bad about their local Sheriff's Department, if they are smart. Just kidding!…read more I have had the pleasure of being on the right side of the law in many dealings with this County office. I have found all deputies and detectives I have worked with and met very respectful, congenial and human. Yup, I said human. Some people seem to think that anyone in uniform can't be human & fun, boy do they have that wrong. I truly respect these ladies & gentlemen for putting their buttes on the line everyday for our safety & comfort. I think this is an under appreciated and misunderstood department that many people have misconceptions about. I realize this is only my opinion, but I must go back to the book/cover. A uniform does not define a person, there is good & bad in all professions and this is no exception, but I believe the good far out numbers the bad. Next time you see a deputy, why not try saying hello and thanking them for their service or having a light conversation? I think you will be pleasantly suprised to see the human side and not just the uniform. What's a girl to do? I have always been a sucker for uniforms & justice.

If you want the short version, go directly to the last two paragraphs…read more This review is for WEST Pasco County Sheriff's Deputies in Hudson/Port Richey and non-incorporated areas of New Port Richey. Keep in mind, "Florida Man" is a meme for a reason and the Sheriff's Department has to deal with them. Pasco County Sheriff's Deputies in our side of the county are relatively congenial. They seem to use tools to work smarter. They are very responsive in letting the community know what's going on in the county via Twitter. They are BIG proponents of Ring/other video systems and make it easy for residents to report break-ins, mischief, etc. They have a detective who reviews reported events from the Ring system so they know who's out and about and can easily disseminate the information. The Port Richey/Hudson area is not some place you want to case the neighborhood. By the time you get around to finding a place to commit a crime, they already know your body, your face, have you on video and the Ring community probably already has a thread going on you. Why did I give the Sheriff's Department 4 stars instead of 5? Sheriff Nocco said some pretty inappropriate things about Occupy protesters during that period of time (2011-2012) that inferred his deputies would abuse their privilege under *his* direction (the video of his press conference was aired on TV). Our peaceful protests (signs and verbal) only crossed their purview once and they were NOT happy, but they did not become physically abusive over it. It was peaceful after all. I am sorry I can't give you any information on how the Sheriff's Department in this area interacts with African Americans. I've never, EVER crossed the path of any African American person that was threatening in stance, so if you feel threatened you need to get your white privilege/racism in check. The area has become more evenly split between Democratic and Republican voters and COVID statistics show a much higher percentage of white people suffering from the virus so take what you will from that. I offer this next bit of information in hopes that it offers perspective on this area in regards to what the Sheriff's Department has to deal with. Both Hudson (NY connection) and Moon Lake (descendants of one family) have a cluster of white supremacists. You will, from time to time (although less frequently over the last year) see them driving down US 19 with confederate flags as big as their raised up trucks flying from them. The ones from Moon Lake are more "Florida Man." Keep your distance from the Hudson group (no idea where they hang, but the Sheriff's office is aware of them from what I was told so they have to deal with that). We have several clusters of homeless groups. They pretty much stay to themselves, but the Sheriff's Department keeps an eye on them as well. This place is full of retirement communities which means a lot of old people who spend their days/nights looking out the window. Like I said earlier, this area isn't a good place to commit a crime if you're trying to get away with it. The Ring community is vast and wide and very adept at quickly spreading information about where you've been and where you're going. Drive VERY carefully if you're going down SR 52 in the dead of night. Drunk people wander across it from time to time, usually in dark clothes so be awake and alert if you're out driving then. Jasmine Road is another place where people for some unknown reason walk along the road in dark clothes (more than once I've come across someone pushing a stroller) so keep your eyes peeled as there are no sidewalks for anyone to walk on safely. Bottom line, the Sheriff's Department Deputies in West Pasco County generally try to be professional and congenial. They are well trained and equipped to deal with escalation though. Treat them as you'd like to be treated so you don't have to find out what those escalation tactics are. The State police are a completely different kettle of fish so make sure you've got a camera running at all times tucked away in a corner of the car, ESPECIALLY if you're traveling down I-95 and look like you're vacationing. Google for more info.

In full disclosure, I do not work for the Tampa Police Department, but our paths cross regularly through my specialized training and work with the City of Tampa's Office of Emergency Management. I had to run down to TPD headquarters this past week to drop off some paperwork and update my records. Since I was not a guest of the City I am unable to pass judgment on the comfort of the mattresses in lockup, or the quality of the meals that they serve their overnight guests. We'll have to wait for someone else to write a review about the City's drunk tank. Sorry Kelleigh! Police Chief Castor and her team are incredibly respectful to both the residents and the guests of the City of Tampa, and as evidenced last year during the Republican National Convention those basic acts of kindness go a long ways towards protecting the reputation of the City. It's always sad to walk up to the front door and view the memorial to the fallen officers, but I always walk out the door feeling good about the people who protect and serve the place that I live.
