My uncle was literally 1 minute late to his doctor's appointment and for this reason, his appointment was canceled. Although I understand that hospitals do have late policies, Ponderosa does lack compassion, grace and empathy with their patients and this is disappointing to accept knowing they are in the healthcare industry. It's clear to us that this facility is less interested in the welfare of patients and more interested in quickly getting their patients in and out of the building. Being 1 minute late to your appointment should not be grounds for cancelation.

I have been a patient at Ponderosa Family Physicians for almost two decades, and for much of that time I was deeply grateful for the care I received. In 2016, Dr. Draper diagnosed my melanoma early enough that I was able to have it removed and become cancer free. For that, I will always be thankful. They also monitored my thyroid condition for over 10 years, and I placed significant trust in them with my ongoing health. When I changed insurance carriers and learned Ponderosa was no longer in-network, I personally contacted my insurance company and arranged to have them added so I could continue my care there. After receiving written approval, I brought the documentation directly to the office, believing that nearly two decades of loyalty and history would matter. Instead, I was sternly told I could no longer remain a patient. I asked to speak with the office manager, Steve Elliott, and was told he would call me. That was two weeks ago, and I have not received any follow-up. When I have called since, I'm told that because I am "no longer a patient," they cannot transfer my call or assist me in any way. After almost 20 years, the lack of communication and compassion has been deeply painful. It's unsettling to suddenly feel dismissed by a practice you trusted with your life. I now find myself searching for a new primary care physician -- someone who will see me as a person, not simply as an account status. I share this experience because long-term patients deserve TO BE TREATED LIKE AN INDIVIDUAL, A PERSON AND NOT A NUMBER with communication, respect, and basic follow-through. I sincerely hope others are treated with more consideration than I was.

When I was having problems with my pregnancy she was supportive and kind the whole way through. Many doctors would have told me to think again about getting pregnant (I'm not a small girl and for some reason to some doctors this means I should never breed or plain won't be able to) and was helpful with a referral once I was. Once our son was born she detected issues and acted on them accordingly. Because of her care and timeliness we were able to avoid further problems, had his medical issues not been addressed. Dr. Trawick is a wealth of information but will also tell you if she feels that your issue is out of her scope. It seems that she knows someone in the area for something and the few referrals we have gotten (including our sons pediatric cardiologist) have been terrific. I really like, and more importantly, TRUST her and the individuals in the office. They take the time to make sure your needs are met and treat YOU not just your symptoms. It truly is a family clinic! We are very happy with the care we have had and even though we have moved out of the Aurora area we still travel to see her.

So, I'm updating this review from my original one. I'd give them zero stars but had to put 1 to…read morereview. This place is a joke. I've now seen Dr. Bamba a few times over the last few months. They also told me this was a place for self paying clients without insurance. So most of their services are supposed to be free or discounted. Well, according to the bill for 3 visits it's $985. That's literally what it would've cost at ANY OTHER doctor office for cash pay. And more importantly: Dr. Bamba is well aware my thyroid is dead & I'm probably experiencing major hormone issues, because my weight has spiked 100lbs over the last couple years. Most of it being within the last year. I also have Fibromyalgia & the extra weight is causing me more frequent & more painful flare-ups. I cannot fathom why doctors do nothing. Don't they take an oath to be care providers???. She's prescribed me Levothyroxine (which is obviously not working). And hasn't addressed my hormones at all. They've watched me progressively gain on average 10lbs a month and suggested a nutrition plan. Are you kidding me? I barely eat at all. I have followed a "low carb no sugar" diet for years because my daughter is a type 1 diabetic. But this hasn't had any positive affect on my weight. I'm not a doctor, but to me it seems obvious that it isn't "just a diet & exercise" thing. I do light exercises when I can but that's even getting difficult because of my weight. On top of it, I now have high blood pressure issues that I've never had issues with in my 43 years of life. At this rate I'll be beyond morbidly obese by Christmas. I'm already heavier than I was during all 3 of my pregnancies!! I am so concerned about this rapid weight gain & the overall effect it's having on not only my body but also my mind. This is beyond frustrating; but I'm met with deaf ears & am feeling completely brushed off at this point. In our last conversation she said she wasn't running certain tests that I need in order to "save me $". But at $300 a visit, I don't see how they're saving me money. I am definitely going somewhere else for further treatment. The lack of actual care here is inhumane & unprofessional to the upmost extent. And their advertising for discounted rates are a complete lie. I wouldn't take my dog here. Stay far away!!! You'd be better off at literally ANYWHERE ELSE.

The check in process was seamless and the nurse and PA I dealt with were an absolute delight to deal with. They listened to my concerns, got me some appropriate meds and I was on my way. I provided the BP readings over the phone. She told me they could see me after placing me on a brief hold. I arrived and filled out the basic paperwork, she took my BP and (I assume she was a medtech), told me I had to pay $160 up front before I could be seen and evaluated. I reluctantly paid it. She brought me back to a room for my Evaluation and the Health Care Professional who was either a Nurse Practitioner or PA I believe, who immediately told me she could not see me. She told me I needed to go to the Emergency Room as they cannot provide care for this problem in this Urgent Care Setting. Here is where it gets interesting...I returned to the front desk person and requested a refund since I was not evaluated. She told me she could not give me my money back and told me to call the Office Manager. I have not only called Carbon Health Billing, as well as this Carbon Health Urgent Care clinic several times to receive my refund. Billing told me that the Office Manager at the clinic will call me back. Today is 1/13/25 and I have not heard from them. Additionally, I called my health insurance company and they also paid $160 to Carbon Health. All in all, $320.00 was paid to this clinic for the medtech to take my BP. This is absolutely ridiculous!!! I am contesting the charge with my credit card company and providing a report to the Fraud Department with my Health Insurance company. I am truly in shock that they have such poor ethics. DO NOT use them if you are in need of Urgent Care. They are very shady!!!!!

On October 14th, they received a pathology report indicating a cancerous tumor in my appendix. I had a post-operative appointment with Mary and a follow-up call regarding my bloodwork results. Unfortunately, Mary only reviewed the bloodwork results and failed to inform me of my cancer diagnosis twice within three days. When I called to inquire, Clemmy informed me that it was not feasible for them to read every report that comes in and expressed her apologies. She also mentioned that Mary would likely call to apologize as well, but she has not done so. I believed my primary care physician was responsible for handling situations like this, especially when the hospital and surgeon did not contact me. I relied on Mary to review the report that had been placed in my file two days earlier. If you are looking for a doctor's office that does not prioritize reading every report, Willard Family Practice and Mary may be suitable for you.
