It has been many years since I have travelled Sand Creek Trail and recently I have found myself…read morerediscovering it. The once hard to traverse sections that were manly a rough unnavigable mess have now been constructed with a smooth wide concrete path making the journey to/ from the Commerce City portions of the trail easy and pleasant. The Aurora sections south of MLK blvd are still a soft sand/silt combination however. I rejoice in the fact that there has been so much progress in the construction of this trail and look ever forward to it being 100% complete one day.

PRO TIP: try avoiding the most back row if you have long legs or any stress with mobility. Because once you sit there, the seat is assigned and you will have to deal with being cramped in a tighter space. And you basically are always the last one to get off. This was one of the biggest cons. Moving on, the tour itself was great. We stopped by a cafe on the way to and back, for food and bathroom breaks, and pretty soon, the van took us to the Rocky Mountain with beautiful views and even saw many wildlife - the big horn sheep, elk, deer (i think), and, not to forget, smaller animals like birds, mouse, and chipmunks, but no moose spotted. Nonetheless, the breathtaking view of the Rockies is certainly worth the journey. The guide was very knowledgeable about trees and shared many stories about the places and tips for visiting Denver in general! She also took us to a few Native American owed stores that featured indigenous art that were very cool to see. One thing to note is that I think the Colorado Sightseer, the tour company, had listed at least two slightly different itineraries, and I might have been sent to the one I did not pick. I noticed because I intentionally picked the tour with visits to two visitor centers, vs the one I went on only took us to Beaver Meadows. Not a big deal bc I did get still get my stamp, and the tour used most of the day's time efficiently by visiting many attractions. But this might be something you want to make sure if the stops matter a lot to you. Nonetheless, with a group tour, it is understandable and expected for the itinerary to potentially change. For instance, the day I went, the tour guide actually too us to visit places in different order to avoid crowds. Another thing to really appreciate is that the tour provided some snacks, extra gloves/beanies, which were really a lifesaver in the cold mountains. I know I was not fully prepared for it and so glad I could borrower some!

Dave is a great guide whether you are a first-timer or a more experienced climber hoping to expand your skill set. I participated in a women's lead clinic and was impressed by how well the guides were effectively able to manage a wide range of skill and comfort levels so that everyone was able to have a good time and learn something new. Dave is committed to keeping everyone safe but also creates a more fun and relaxed environment than other guiding services I have used, and seems genuinely interested in helping his clients truly understand the process and equipment rather than focusing on memorizing information. I have not used Apollo's mountaineering or snowshoeing services but hope to do so in the future!

Fun way to spend a couple hours! From driving around the Arsenal looking for bison and the rest of…read morethe animals, to parking in one of the lots and taking a walk around. My family and I have often visited this area as it's really close to where we live. We've driven family and friends many times, walked around the lakes, and even had family photos taken! Besides all those wonderful things, there's also a cool visitor center. Lots of information, a Bison figure, bathrooms, and a nice Discovery Room for children! Behind the Visitor Center is the Ferret Exhibit! Don't forget to take a stroll outside past the garden to visit the little friends. You can also go inside!

I went in early March and there were so many birds. The immediate scenery is flat prairie but you can walk around a couple lakes and the mountains in the distance are cool. We did the wildlife drive and got to see some bison fairly close. Would definitely recommend listening the the podcast while you drive along. The visitor's center is well done and the staff were nice and friendly. Overall would highly recommend for anyone wanting a nice peaceful walk in nature or to see the bison!
