There's miles of trails for hiking and biking, including many views of the plains, mountains, and surrounding scenery. Love the flowers and many rock colors coming out. You can even see a section of ancient seabed coming out! This is definitely one of my favorite places to go hiking in Boulder, and it seems you can avoid some of the downtown Boulder crowds. There's also South Mesa parking across the road, and plenty of trails northward too! Happy trails!

There's no direct access point from the Art Park to the paved trail which seems odd. The closest point is at the Flora RiNo Apartments, a new building north of the park. I don't understand this. There is a nice concrete path, once you can find it. I had a fairly peaceful walk to Rhingo and enjoyed watching the geese who were sunning themselves en masse on this unusually warm winter day. The back end of the Salvation Army's Crossroads Center borders the trail and is directly adjacent to the Denargo Market development and the little Rhingo park. Many of the Crossroads Center visitors were enjoying the nice weather and sitting around the area. I encountered an increasing amount of trash and debris on the hill between the trail and Crossroads as I approached Rhingo. Perhaps the Salvation Army could consider organizing a cleanup as this was the only spot on the trail with an excessive amount of garbage.

The water was clean, cold (but not freezing), and refreshing. There are definitely some rougher sections with a noticeable current, so we let our dog swim but kept her on a leash for safety, even though we normally don't. The creek bed is very rocky, so water shoes for people and being mindful of your dog's footing are a good idea. Overall, it's a beautiful spot to relax, enjoy the scenery, and let your pup splash around--as long as you use a little extra caution around the faster-moving water.

This trailhead provides probably the easiest ascent of the peak. You can park along the road between the signs, or even start lower near Lost Gulch on the Greenman trail. This is not too much elevation gain, and around 1.5 miles one way. The terrain for half is rolling hills and pretty smooth, while the second part begins elevation gain in earnest up rock stairs. The trail breaks pretty fast and you can get excellent views. You can also connect to Bear Peak and other trails east. Happy trails!

July 28, 2027 - Denver…read more The Cherry Creek Trail was a nice break from exploring downtown Denver's busy streets and shops. We accessed the trail at Larimer and 14th, walked to Confluence Park, and back for about a 3-mile round trip. The trail is wide, paved, and pleasant to walk. We didn't realize at first that one side is designated for pedestrians and the other for bikes and scooters, so we started on the wrong side. We figured it out quickly, although the access point we used could have been marked more clearly. We visited on a hot day, and this stretch of trail had very little shade. Since the trail sits below street level along the river, there wasn't much of a breeze either. Once we were on the pedestrian side, we felt comfortable walking our dog, although one scooter zipped past us much too fast. We also noticed a few homeless about, but we felt safe during our midday walk. Overall, it's a pleasant urban trail and a great way to enjoy the river while taking a break from the downtown crowds.

You'll walk adjacent to a number of homes, park, and schools. Frequent trash cans and exits to enter the neighborhoods. Wasn't seeing any trash which is a plus. Just one of the many open space/walking/biking trails you'll see throughout Colorado. Occasionally you'll see some locks signage explaining which part of the trail you are on. Think historic setting and whatnot but otherwise it's a walking, exercise, skating trail like anywhere else within the state. You could have a good time riding the entire trail or adding sections into your regular workout route. Well paved and maintained as I mentioned before regarding trash cans and dog poop bag stations throughout. One reviewer mentioned noise but maybe they have the incorrect Yelp listing? Or their closest part of the trail to close to a loud highway. My only advice is to wear sunscreen. Vitamin C told me that once.

I started at the Gold Strike Park in Arvada and there was parking as well as a connection to the Clear Creek Trail. This trail is paved and runs through number of parks in Arvada/Wheat Ridge. There is a gentle, almost subtle incline as you ride west. The creek of course is flowing downward in the opposite direction. I had no trouble using the big chain ring on my road bike and the return ride was a snap, with its gentle decline. The trail is mostly well marked and zigs and zags across the river. There is pedestrian traffic and not too many long straight stretches, so your top speed is limited. The trail runs on a few residential streets here and there. If you lose the trail, just keep going in the same direction and you'll pick it up shortly. Overall it's a fun, pleasant ride that I highly recommend. Suitable for families (although I'd start at one of the municipal parks that it intersects for the playground) and also for walking your dog. My total altitude gain over the nine miles up was only 410 feet, according to my Garmin. There are a few porta-potties along the way. A few water fountains too, at the park areas. This trail is perfect for an easy Saturday morning ride!

Along the trail one can expect to see beautiful mountains, plains, prairies, and man made waterfalls and other water features. Plenty of free parking at any of the park trailheads .
