Katy office: Dr. Beidas is excellent. The rest of the organization is a bit off. If you like the smell of musk and patchouli "air freshener" then this is the place for you. For those of us with fragrance sensitivity, not so much. They demanded I pay the full amount prior to submitting it to my insurance. Why is my regular dentist able to figure out my benefits to the penny and only charge me that? So I paid the $1590. The EOB was issued a week later by the insurance company and they were paid at the same time. I called them and said I am owed a refund. It has been 3 weeks and I am still waiting for a refund. read more

I received a tooth extraction here last year by Dr. Koo. The office staff were ok, some friendlier than others, except the woman who handled billing was rude. The wait time is very long, so don't expect your time to be valued by them, and they know it because they have timers on the door. The office could use some updating as well. At our consultation, Dr. Koo was accommodating and supportive of the plan we had created, however upon my second visit he completely backtracked and changed the plan. I do not prefer anyone but an anesthesiologist to be put to sleep and will never use a dental provider as one again. The IV bag hung from a string in the ceiling, the surgical suite was cold and dark and I had to reconfirm several times which tooth we were removing. They were very cold and not personable after surgery either. The days that followed were terrible.. I called a few times to inquire about some recovery questions and was met with disrespect like I was an inconvenience to the staff. I also had to wait over an hour or more for my post op appts, and spent MAYBE 10 mins with Dr. Koo when he finally came in. The surgical site is still not the best. Overall, He was very dismissive and seemed very distant after surgery, I'm not sure if he even desires to provide good care or just wants you in and out.. I did not return for the implant and will not. Always do your due diligence when looking for any kind of healthcare professional, it will save you a lot of mistreatment. read more

Dr. Steve Koo saved me from terrible complications I had with a surgery with a different doctor. I came to Dr. Koo with intense pain and bleeding which was being horribly mismanaged by the doctor that did my tooth extraction, bone graft and sinus lift. Dr. Koo saw me the next day and diagnosed the true source of my pain and got me the right treatment to control the infection and dry socket complications I was having caused by a different doctor. In summary: Very good oral surgeon. Office organization/communication/handling of nonstandard circumstances is lacking. My partner was sent to Dr. Koo via referral from our regular dentist to have two wisdom teeth removed. The procedure itself was quick and efficient, and Dr. Koo is clearly well-practiced and knowledgeable, so we were well-satisfied by that -- which is the main thing, of course. However, our experience with the office overall left some things to be desired. At the appointment for the initial evaluation, we were not seen until over two hours past our scheduled appointment, including an hour of being left in an exam room with no communication from the staff. (When we hit 7:30pm with no word, I began to worry that everyone had gone home and forgotten about us! And, really, I felt bad for the staff that they were being kept so late. They seemed very tired.) The doctor also originally prescribed a pain medication my partner is allergic to, despite the allergy being listed on his paperwork, among other points of confusion regarding his medications. It took far too much back-and-forth with the front desk before we finally got everything straightened out, resulting in more than 24 hours of postsurgical misery for my partner, despite attempting to communicate the issue to them both before and after the surgery. read more

I guess when you are dealing with people having a DENTAL EMERGENCY you do not have to ensure that front office staff have good customer service and are respectful to clients. I am sitting here writing a review in pain, knowing that I will will have to go the entire weekend without seeing a dentist because the older woman at the front desk was extremely rude. I had an appointment 6pm on a Friday and had new medical and dental so I did not have a physical card. This lady did not want to hear anything and could not do anything with out an insurance card!!!! She cannot look up anything or give me time to try and get the digital card. I was on the phone with my wife, who was trying to download the card and send it to me. In the middle of this she called me to the desk and before I could get to the window yelled "so you dont have any insurance?" HIPPA TRAINING PLEASE?????? Then she said in the rudest tone " So what do you want me to do? I can reschedule you next Wednesday" Keep in mind at this point I had already given her my medical card. To which her response was " Well sir, you ARE here for a dental procedure" As a grown man with a wife, kids and a Master's degree I would never have figured that I went to the dentist for a dental procedure.My wife hearing this on the phone was appalled. KEEP IN MIND THAT I WAS INITIALLY RECIEVED BY A YOUNGER LADY WHO INSTRUCTED ME TO TEXT MY INSURANCE CARD TO A PHONE NUMBER (WHICH IS WHAT I WAS DOING)AND THIS WOMAN CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND STARTED TO BARK AT ME.I was still trying to see the dentist and was downloading the app to get my card which takes like 5 minutes. She said that she had to reschedule, I explained that my wisdom tooth broke and I could not wait 5 days to get an evaluation. SHE DID NOT CARE AND HAD ABSOLUTELY NO EMPATHY. THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO. At this point I thanked her for her time and walked out the office. An hour later she called me while I was still driving home as I DROVE MORE THAN AN HOUR FOR THIS APPOINTMENT!!!!, trying to reschedule me for Monday. Probably on Friday evenings they just piss clients off so they get to go home early. I guess demand for dental surgery is inelastic when it comes to bad customer service. I also figure that this practice is doing so well that they do not need my or my insurance company's business. I guess someone with PPO insurance, 4 wisdom teeth to take out and a DENTAL EMERGENCY is not their type of customer. I guess the owners can afford front office staff costing them thousands in lost revenue. We were referred to Piney Point Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery by our regular dentist because my daughter's wisdom teeth needed to be extracted. We came for the initial consultation and that went well. We made the surgery appointment and the whole process went very well also. She was provided with ample time to recover from the initial surgery in the office and the oral surgeon came in to check up on her and to let us know there were no major issues encountered during the procedure. All of the medications were prescribed ahead of time and pre-purchased so that she can ease into the recovery period without undue pain and discomfort. The staff at the facility were very helpful and friendly. We are very appreciative that everyone was knowledgeable and the doctor did excellent work on my daughter's extractions. After multiple failed attempts to save the tooth with other providers, I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Koo to see what needed to be done for a permanent solution. He was able to do a CT scan in the office, and gave me a treatment plan all at my first visit. I appreciated the fact that Dr. Koo was honest about the prognosis of my tooth, after spending so much trying to save it. I was initially referred to Piney Point by West Houston Dentistry. My dentist insisted that I should have my wisdom teeth (all four) removed within the next year, so they pointed me to Dr. Koo. Setting up the initial consultation was very easy, and I found the staff very helpful for that first visit. And for those who are reading this during the current pandemic, the staff will have you complete a COVID-19 form and take your temperature when you enter the waiting room. They also have distanced seating, just so waiting patients are not huddled together. Once my wisdom teeth extraction surgery was set, they provided all the helpful information needed to prepare for the surgery date. They even checked to see if I wanted to move the surgery to an earlier date, which was very nice. The surgery itself went well. Dr. Koo's assistants made sure that I was set and comfortable before the anesthesia was given, and I woke up with little pain in my jaw. Of course, the areas that were worked on were numb, but it was a lot better than what I had read online with other people's experiences with different places. I recently came back for the follow-up appointment, and it was quick and easy! Dr. Koo was able to review my progress since the surgery, and everyone was really positive about it. I had a horrible experience and would not recommend this practice or Dr. Koo. The excisional biopsy they did on my tongue caused permanent nerve damage and the development of a neuroma and mucocele. I have had to have multiple corrective procedures from their work.
