So, in other words, if you don't get an A you fail your assignments. I withdrew, brought this to the attention of the Dean, and asked for financial credit so I could take another course instead. She did not respond but simply forwarded my concern to a registrar who refused to do anything about it. The registrar said, wrongly, that the professor was acting in accord with HES policy. The grading system on the website does not in point of fact map onto the grading system of all the professors. So be forewarned that you may end up with a professor who will give you an F if you get less than an A. Don't waste your money at HES and don't expect the administration to act justly. I've matriculated a different program. HES just lost the 30K they would have made if they would have simply rendered a just decision.

There are no Financial Aid options coming from the university itself, and 2 out of 3 student loan companies that their office recommends actually don't really accept Extension School students. The third one needs a lot of extra paperwork that the school isn't willing to help with. In order to enroll you need to pay in full and you don't get a letter of enrollment until after the drop out period, when it's too late. You can't get a loan without paying and you can't get enrolled without a loan. So it's a chicken and egg situation that has no end. They say the university helps cover for you until the loan is approved, but in reality, you have to pay in full first and they will reimburse you after the loan is paid. Which defies the entire point of asking for financial assistance. There is a very short window in which to apply for the loan after registration before being dropped out for non-payment. Paperwork takes more than a month, which is not nearly enough to get everything done. I've spent hours and hours with both the lending officers and the financial aid officers, and in the end, nothing got solved. Nothing. I am unable to join the courses. I am unable to get a loan. I feel like my potential is wasting away... Harvard has failed me.

My son cannot wait to attend and also without prompting will willingly do the preparation that may be needed for each class. His knowledge and passion has increased extensively. He is learning so much and feels confident and has a real sense of self, especially in the computer programming area. The kids mainly hung out in the main room working on legos, and others stayed on Minecraft for the whole time. - My one caveat was that it's very boy-oriented stuff. The girls we took didn't find much interest in legos or Minecraft. So, they weren't that thrilled to be there. - There is a 3D scanner in an adjacent building; you can have your body scanned and turned into a 3-D sand sculpture. Creepy/cool! -

Our daughter specifically asked to visit MIT during our trip to Boston, and it ended up being one…read moreof the highlights of her visit. As a parent, there's something special about watching your child stand in front of a place they've only heard about and start imagining what their future could look like. We spent time walking around campus, taking photos, and soaking in the atmosphere. What stood out most was how much the campus felt like a place where people are actively building and creating things. There was an energy to it that was hard to describe but easy to feel. We also had a memorable moment when a professor kindly let us inside one of the buildings. It wasn't something we expected, but it gave us a glimpse into the community and generosity that can make a place feel welcoming rather than intimidating. Even if you're not a prospective student, MIT is worth visiting for the architecture, history, and sense of innovation that seems to be woven into the campus. For our daughter, it was inspiring. For us, it was fun to see her dream a little bigger.

The teachers, the curriculum and the facility are positively amazing. I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with our experience. We live a decent distance away from the school and Jack's mom drives him from our home on the South Shore to Newton... To those of you from the area, I hope this points out just how great we think the school is, that we'd travel that far. We look forward to Jack's third year with the school next year!

The school itself... pristine... locked/gated/beautiful grounds and play areas. The place is safe, the teachers are AMAZING... they care and they know what they are doing. The activities, learning plan, etc.... WOW! The families... the sense of unity in the various families who attend this school... WOW! I really cant express how amazing this place is. They use the whole theatre in their productions, you never know which aisle a character will run down or dance across (at least that has been the norm for the past 4 seasons). My children have enjoyed every production they have attended from Peter Pan to Pippi Longstocking. They actors, novice and professional alike, really do a fabulous job on and off stage. I remember my little guy was afraid of the pirates in Peter Pan, we decided to leave early and happened upon the pirates waiting to enter through the door we were trying to exit. He freaked out a bit until the a couple of the pirates took off their beards and eye patches and explain to him that they were pretending. They didn't have to do that but they did and it helped calm his fears. I love that they break traditional casting norms, for instance: one bearded pirate in Peter Pan was a woman; Marilda in Anne of Green Gables was black and Matthew, her brother, was white; in Pippi, Mrs. Settergren is black while her children, Tommy and Annika, are white; in The Wizard of Oz , Glinda was Asian and pregnant. The shows are affordable, and accessible. The theatre is conveniently located near the Longwood Medical Area and I'd suggest parking in a nearby garage as opposed to taking your chances on The Riverway.

The summer camp for children is purely based on favorites, and they give the same children time to…read moreshine over and over again while the students who are just as talented get ensemble parts with no singing or even single lines. Some kids who are arguably worse repeatedly get cast as very important roles while actual talent takes a back seat. Awful, unfair, and horrible.
