Pirate Park Playground - Pirate playground, Miami Beach

    Pirate Park Playground

    (5 reviews)

Ahoy Matey! Did you know there is a pirate themed playground in Altos Del Mar Park in Miami Beach?…read moreGather up the crew and anchors away for the most almost free fun a fledgling pirate can have. You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

We had such a great time at color me mine in South Miami. This year we made a summer bucket list…read moreand ceramics was on the list. So glad I found that this location is still open. I called ahead because we are a family of 6. I was able to reserve a spot same day! The staff so so nice and helpful. I highly recommend going. They have so many different items that can be painted. AND so many colors and techniques you can try. High recommend going as a family, friend group, or date night!!!

I had a lovely time there, staff was friendly, place was clean, and my finished tray was ready on…read moretime. I went home, put it aside for a few days and when I finally get around to displaying it I notice these huge cracks in the glaze. I was confused, because it looked totally fine when I got it in the store, and I stored it indoors directly after taking it home. No extreme heat or sunlight or anything. I'm sure this is not from anything I did, because it is not a crack all the way through the piece and solely on the glaze. When I flipped it around I noticed MAJOR cracking on the bottom, as well as a ton of bubbles. As someone who's done ceramics (and consulted a few friends who've also done ceramics) this only happens because of improper glazing. I'm genuinely so upset. This was supposed to be a birthday present for myself. I tend to not blame people, because mistakes happen. But it seems the staff was either uncaring or not trained properly for the glazing/firing. My two friends did not have this problem, but unless you're willing to take the risk I wouldn't recommend coming here. This also makes me not want to visit the new one thats opening near me.
