The owner here is very friendly and personable. She said she had no holiday plans for the 4th itself during the day and her family were out doing their own thing so she decided to open the doors... And we appreciate that! The shop is laid out into three sections. The front main display area. A back room area. And a small room off to the side of the front counter. Very easy to navigate. Don't forget to look at the outside items too! Prices are reasonable and it was a welcome stop during our trip. Heather picked up a couple of things while I walked out empty handed...this time. I found an elephant figurine (that I bought), and an elephant light (which I did not buy... yet!). They also have some gorgeous jewelry by the front desk, that I may have to splurge on soon! This is definitely the antique/vintage experience you expect and want when you step into a shop in town. Not just the same old things, but many items that my mom and I had never seen in our many browsing trips to various stores/flea markets. They are in the middle of updating the space, but leaving ALL the charm of the building - there was even features of it opened up that were hidden away when we shopped the business in place before it. Like; stone, pearl, metal, organic, glass, chrystal and one-of-a-kind flamework beads. WOWZA. Beads. Beads. Beads. Everywhere! Organized chaos of every color and from all over the world. There was eclectic jewelry for sale throughout the store-- which was made in house? I believe. Plus, an assortment of tools for jewelry making and other supplies. There are an adorable, young married couple. I wanted to buy everything but I'm trying to downsize so I was there to sell. They took the time to look through all my things even though they weren't buying much at the moment, but they were able to find some pieces and offered me a fair price. They've only been open a few weeks but already have a great assortment. The shop is curated with mid-century modern and modern furniture, art and records, plus clothes like vintage Hawkeye apparel, hats and jerseys. Fun fact: The owners know the team behind FindFurnish in Minneapolis, a similar store that has made trips down to Iowa City to buy some of their pieces before selling them at much higher, big-city prices.
