They've got pool tables and a cozy little section with a fireplace, which is such a nice touch for a dive bar and makes it feel way more inviting than you'd expect. The bartenders are always nice, and the drinks are solid every time. What surprises me, though, is that the place is usually pretty dead whenever I'm there--which I genuinely don't understand because the drinks are good and the ambience is actually really nice. All that said, it's still one of the better dive bars in Anchorage and definitely worth stopping into, especially if you're in the Spenard area and want something low-key but reliable.

Michelle, the main instructor, was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the challenging process of pursuing my dream to dance. I wasn't sure where to start, what classes to take, or how to move forward, but she made it so much easier. I've been attending for six weeks now, and I absolutely love it! I'm finally doing what I've always dreamed of, and it feels amazing. You don't have to be crazy talented or have any prior experience. There are multiple instructors who are so supportive and help guide you every step of the way. I've had such an incredible time and can't wait to continue on to the next class!

Danced mainly as a lead and didn't run out of dances. :) For salsa, more on1 than on2 dancers (music leans Romantica). I'll be stopping by whenever I'm in Anchorage on a Friday night! :)

The Pio just gives off the best bar energy downtown. The bartenders are absolutely amazing and always take such good care of you, which honestly makes all the difference. They bring in DJs throughout the week with different sets, and if you're there before the DJ starts, they've got a TouchTunes jukebox so you can play your own music. Inside, there's plenty to do: arcade-style games, pool tables, and air hockey, perfect if you're bouncing around downtown and want to actually hang out somewhere. They've done a few facelifts inside over the years, and it's only gotten better. This is easily one of our all-time favorite spots when we're downtown. And the best part? Sometimes on the weekends, if you're lucky, you step outside and there's a little hot dog stand set up right near the front door. Truly elite downtown behavior and one of my favorite things about being down there.

Sadly the scene in Anchorage for cocktails is pretty bleak. We only have a handful of places with a truly decent bar program. With liquor licenses being absolutely insane to purchase I understand why most restaurants opt for a beer & wine only license, but it still makes me sad. This is a distillery first so they are producing their liquors on site. They honestly don't have to have the cocktail program that they do seeing as they aren't a bar, and yet they are absolutely killing it in the creativity department. On my most recent visit I convinced my new yelp friend, Jasmine, to head over here for some Black Friday libations. She entrusted me to be her first espresso martini drinking partner so I had to deliver. When I saw Anchorage distillery had one on their December cocktail list I knew we had to try it. I was not disappointed. It was an extremely well balanced espresso martini. I also got a cinnamon moonshine cocktail called ugly Christmas sweater. This one had toasted marshmallow & maple syrup. The flavors were a bit more watered down in this one, but I think that's just because it was over shaken. Overall this cocktail program is impressive. The bartenders are knowledgeable & efficient. The space is also cozy. Next time you're looking to try a new spot head on over to Anchorage Distillery!

The original in AK and its counter point in AZ. I will say I received my Fill from this AK first. Unlikely that I will visit another strip club for some time to come, I was very satisfied with the GABC and would recommend it to anyone visiting Anchorage Alaska as a key destination. My comparisons would be limited to 3 strip clubs in the Scottsdale, AZ and 1 additional AK establishment I will provide a review for this same evening that had after hours later than this. The first time I asked about ordering food, the cook was running late, and that is completely understandable. The second time I asked they mentioned they were still unavailable and that they would hand out menus when they are. Again, understandable and they right away followed through with that statement and handed me a menu as soon as they arrived. The problem was when I filled out the form to order. They stated that how I filled it out was unclear and blamed it on me being "tipsy." I have never ordered food at this place before and was not given instructions on how to fill it out. They said that I "did not put 'on the side'" for bbq, but i did and put a line connecting the two. I also put "x2" next to quesadilla for two orders but that was also confusing to them. Next when I was about to pay, they did not ask if i wanted to keep a tab open or pay on the spot. They asked for my name. I gave them my first name. Then they asked for my last name. I did not understand why and then they said that they couldn't find me to put it on the tab. I then told them I did not want to keep a tab open. The women looked so confused, as if they assumed I wanted to keep a tab open but they did not even ask. They expected me to fill out the menu a certain way but they did not communicate and ask questions, instead made assumptions. This experience and miscommunication made me so uncomfortable. I usually tip everyone but this time I didn't. The bartender looked straight at me and said, "thanks for the tip." I smiled and walked away.

I think we spent maybe 30 minutes playing the 18 holes with two people. I like the theming of the golf areas, one underwater and one arctic. The holes were kind of simple, but a few had cool things sprinkled in. Maybe 4 total had something cool. It was $9 for 18 holes, each person. No 3D glasses were offered but don't really need them.
