She then washed dishes for the next 5 minutes....in which time she could have made the drink easily. I Just got up and left, it looked like I wasn't missing much from what I saw. Never been to a bar where they greet you and then won't make you a drink and then proceed to ignore your group. Despite decent reviews I wouldn't waste your time making a trip here but that is up to you.

The trivia and karaoke were the best I have seen in Anchorage, with a charismatic host and fun atmosphere. These days are, apparently, gone. I have visited twice in the last month, and both were some of the worst bar experiences I have ever had (and I've had some baaaad experiences in my life!). I'm not sure what happened to the staff that worked hard to make the Blue Fox a welcome, classic dive with chill and solid vibes, but whatever the mess is that's in place now is....something else. None of the serving staff seemed to know how to do...well...anything. On one visit, I ordered draft beer - pretty basic. After first returning to ask me for a reminder on what drink I ordered, they still brought me the wrong pour, and after what seemed like an excessive amount of time. I was going to order food, but someone at the table next to me leaned over (unsolicited) and told me I'd be better off skipping it. His actual words were "Don't. Save yourself". Yikes. On my other visit, I ordered an old fashioned. Whatever it was that they brought me, it wasn't anything even close, and it was undrinkable. I sent it back, and never saw a server again. On both visits, noone seemed to know how to use the computer system to get me a bill. I will also note that it was very empty there on both occasions. There is nothing I can think of or that I saw to justify or speak to the combination of slow service and level of bumbling chaos that happened. The place was dead. Not sure where the great entertainment guy went - he wasn't there on either visit, and it looked like no fun was being had by anyone. Something changed, folks. I don't know what, but hear me when I say that VIBES ARE OFF big time. In the words of the fella at the table next to me that night: Don't. Save yourself.

Man twice in the past few weeks we went for Tuesday night trivia. The first time the new trivia guy…read morewas really bad. We noticed we didn't recognize any of the staff. We went again last night. They changed the trivia company and all new staff. We were told 2 hour wait for food. The place was half empty. What takes so long to fry something or cook a burger? The sandwich was very dry. The trivia format sucks and the emcee was unfunny. Our group of 7 that went every other week will be a group of 0 moving forward. Bummer because it was a perfect place for a casual night of fun trivia. Now we would rather go home and do nothing if we can't find a new place we like.

At the bequest of a friend, we bopped around town and this was one of his requisite stops. When I realized where we were, I shuddered. Truly, the Travel Inn makes motels in the 3rd world look luxurious. I was not optimisitic about the bar. I was surprised that the S Lounge is a moderatley pleasant dive bar/concert hall. The bar has a smallish stage and dance floor for live music events. There's a cover charge, so that keeps the rif-raf that abound in the neighborhood out. The crowd was mostly goofy but well behaved college kids. Drinks were okay, snacks were okay, the bar was clean enough. Although I REALLY wanted to complain (because did I mention how horrible and ashamed the Travel Inn should be of itself? It's a scourge to humanity!) but I really couldn't. I'd go back if the right band was playing. We happened in on a women's empowerment fundraiser thingie, so it was mostly angry lesbians singing badly. But it was a novel experience and we enjoyed ourselves well enough. I'm going to have to revisit this place to see how it stacks up over time. Check it out. Post a review. This place is a dive bar, but if you like dive bars, it's a pretty solid one. I've been there…read moreprobably a dozen times for shows, and consistently enjoyed the venue. It's relatively clean, staff is pretty friendly, and the drinks are reasonably priced. They've had some pretty interesting shows there, and a good crowd usually turns out. While it is in an area of town frequented by some pretty shady characters, the people I've encountered in the bar have mostly been regular non-shady Anchorage folks.

It was actually pretty great, for a bar buffet. The sole waitress/bartender was super sweet. She seemed to appreciate that we paid with cash. We're a colored neurodivergent family. We stick out like a sore thumb. I kinda expect to be treated differently, (especially in the sticks) but we weren't, here :) Tug's buffet breakfast was better than any hotel buffet breaky, that's for sure! They had french toast sticks, blueberry pancakes, different protein options, biscuits and gravy etc. No soda on tap, only cans. No strips or chicken nuggets here. I kinda figured and we planned to stop elsewhere for my son's eats (ARFID eater). Apparently, there are people who make reservations JUST for the overboard bloody's, so arriving at 11am (they opened at 10am), still had us a waiting a good 30-40min for ours. It was worth it! Tug Bar changes the toppings each week. This week was insane! Candy + an entire chicken, pork chop, lobster tail, sandwich, pretzel etc. see the photo and vid. I didn't need help drinking it, but of course I had my family help me eat it. We had lots of leftovers to take home. I can't wait to return one day! They have a sweet patio area!

Food arrived quickly and the portions were HUGE. The cost to quantity ratio should appease everyone's wallet. Plan to share a meal or take home leftovers.

However, one of the women I'm seeing is into novel experiences (and is also a good dancer, TBH) and I wanted to hang out with her this week so...there I was. There is a free beginner dance lesson every Wednesday. The instructors are good, really good. Arguably too good. I'm such a n00b that I didn't understand most of the jargon. Jargon that most people have probably known since middleschool. I guess I just need a "total n00b" class to be offered in the future. Anyway, I'm trying to challenge myself so, I still tried. I *kind of* got the dance. My steps were innacurate and but I didn't run into anyone and my timing was A-OK. It was a really fun experience now that I'm not out on the dance floor struggling through "syncopated steps". (whatever the hell those are)
