This is saying a lot from me as my family ran their own business for 35 years, and both my in-laws have their own business, one is in retail and has been in business for 40 years. Never would anyone in my family ever treat a person the way I was treated. I came to look at prom dresses for my niece. The door was locked and there was a sign that said "ring bell". I waited a good 5minutes before someone popped out of the curtains from the back. She gave me an annoyed look and asked how she could help me. I said I just wanted to look at dresses for my nieces prom. She reluctantly let me in but had to make sure to mention that she normally has times for mother of the bride and proms, and demanded I take my shoes off. I really don't know what the big deal is with shoes. I mean it's a dingy not vary clean store to begin with, if it had been raining or snowing outside I could understand taking off my shoes, but it was a nice day, my shoes weren't dirty. I was taken back and asked if there was a problem, again she glared at me with this annoyed look and she looked down at my shoes and said take your shoes off. At this point I said, no thanks...I'm going. The owner encouraged me to come in straight away, explaining that once he saw the dress he could give me a quote and let me know if it could be completed before my flight. From the moment I met him, he was warm and welcoming. He immediately put me at ease during what was quite a stressful situation, and I felt confident that my dress was in experienced hands. When I tried the dress on, I honestly wasn't optimistic. It fit terribly around the bust and I couldn't imagine how it could ever look flattering. Within minutes, using just a few pins, he completely transformed the fit. I could suddenly see the beautiful dress I'd hoped I'd bought! The workmanship was exceptional. Satin is notoriously difficult to alter, but every change was beautifully executed and completely invisible. The dress now fits as though it was custom made for me. What impressed me even more was his professionalism and attention to detail. He had the dress finished two days before my flight, giving us time for any final adjustments if needed. Thankfully, none were necessary because the fit was absolutely perfect. During our conversation, I learned he has over 40 years of tailoring experience, and it certainly shows. My wife went in to address a clear mistake on an alteration, and instead of handling the situation professionally, the owner she spoke with was extremely rude and dismissive. The tone and behavior came across as outright misogynistic, which is both shocking and unacceptable in this day and age. What's worse is that we've trusted this business for so long, but this experience completely shattered that trust. I cannot recommend this shop anymore. Treating loyal customers--and anyone, for that matter--with respect should be the bare minimum.
