Dave Landry was there within 20 minutes and started the cleanup process. He had one of his men bring over a huge dehumidifier connected to mats to suction the water from the floor in the kitchen, saving the floors. Then big blowers started drying the water in the ceiling. The ceiling eventually needed work, but all of his crew was helpful, careful and courteous. I am very appreciative and recommend them highly.

Dave Landry is local guy and he's been in the business a long time. He seems to have a lot of good sources for replacing unusual radiators, hardwood floors, etc. He seems to know all of the insurance adjusters, contractors, and even gives tips on local restaurants and entertainment. Their customer service is so maddeningly bad that their employees have caused me to change my plans of doing three or four loads of laundry to one load and a brief dry more than once. I take the rest of my laundry somewhere else rather than do laundry in a hostile climate. And I live across the street. Yeah. It's that rude. They are just rude; they will change a $20 for you or explain how long a quarter will run a dryer, but they wont be nice about it. Their goal in communications seems to be "lower the desire of people to want to do their laundry here so I can clean less and do less mechanical upkeep". Its too bad because its a nice, clean place to do your laundry. It has a parking-lot. It couldn't be more centrally located. It has large capacity washers and dryers for huge loads or big blankets etc. It has regular sized washers for $2.00 a load and regular sized dryers that get you twelve minutes of dry time for 25 cents. They have vending machines that sell laundry aids, snacks, sodas... They have change-making machines but no ATM. It's too bad. Except for the employees, Belfast Coin Laundry is a good laundry-mat.

After we bought the box at the Rockland post office we came home and put it together. Alan had…read moregone to the Camden post office and picked up a couple of large Priority Mail boxes this morning, but they were too small for our purposes so we were going to return them when we came to mail our box. We put our new sweatshirts and t-shirts in, nestled the dish among them, put in more clothing and some chargers off to the side and topped off the whole thing w/ our accumulated paper bags, which we can use for recycling newspapers at home. I addressed it, we sealed it and, since we had time, drove to the Camden post office on the assumption that it will be busier tomorrow (Saturday), when it's open only from 9am-noon. We parked in front. Alan carried the box to be mailed while I carried the two boxes to be returned. He directed me to where they were stored and went right to a clerk who was available to help him. After I put the boxes away I joined him at the counter. We had it marked fragile and chose the slowest, cheapest rate since we're in no hurry. It was almost 15 pounds and came to $46 and change. That's about what we were charged for sending the ceramic fish from the gallery in Woods Hole. It would have been more economical if we had taken it ourselves and just put it in one of the large Priority Mail boxes, as well as it had been wrapped. No matter. Maybe we'll remember next time. The clerk who helped us was very personable and again we were in and out quickly.

Of course this all happened in the middle of winter when we really NEEDED our furnace. Rube Goldberg would have been proud and we were in a jam.
