Jury duty was a good learning experience. The whole process was very well organized, and I felt…read moreproud to be doing my civil duty to give someone a right to a fair trial. I would want to be treated with that dignity. I was selected to be in an initial pool of 71 jurors for a long trial. We spent two days on the 19th floor, listening to the judge. Explain the law explain the charges, and then have detailed questions asked of each of us regarding our biases and the questions pertaining to the law and the trial itself. Then the prosecutor and the defense team asked us questions And they selected the 12 people plus for alternates on Tuesday. The two days that I spent there were worth it. There's a cafeteria on the third floor where the jury room is and you can get plenty of snacks there and fresh water. They give you plenty of breaks and sometimes the lunch hours can be really long, depending upon what The attorneys need. Our second day we had a 2 1/2 hour lunch break before we came back and they let all of us go that weren't selected. Plenty of time and places to eat lunch or you can bring your own and eat in their cafeteria or outside while you're enjoying your break. You can find parking for $15 a day or you can park a mile away and escape the meters and just walk in for free. And of course there's always public transportation if you have a lot of extra time on your hands. They also have a small lounge with vending machines with snacks and drinks and a microwave and a refrigerator for the daily use of all the jurors.

They do have a cashless cafe- it was just ok. Wear comfortable clothing. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable. No gum allowed once you are chosen. No photos allowed. I hope to never return.

There are lots of places to eat nearby, especially if you're here for jury duty. I came here for jury duty and finished my lunch a little early and just sat down in the lobby where there are some tables against the windows. I feel very safe here as it should be being a courthouse. There's also some great views in the higher floors. Staff in the building is pretty nice, polite, and helpful. The only downside to the courthouse is that there's a lack of parking - there are two a slots around the building, but parking is about 30 bucks for the day. The upside is that there is a trolley station directly across from the courthouse. I only came here for jury duty and that is enough. It was a overall good experience.

If I'm being honest, it's quite intimidating. Today, we finalized the conservatorship of my little sister! Judge Olga Alvarez was very compassionate and gave everyone an equal opportunity to speak. Then I will need to attend a San Diego County Courthouse Hearing with this woman judge sometime in October of 2026. I will be asking for a permanent Restraining Order against this woman tenant for a (5 Years) time period and to get her Evicted from this Independent living Home on this property ASAP. My request is very urgent and important to be addressed by a San Diego Courthouse Judge. The SD Judge has Approved my request for an Emergency Temporary Restraining Order against this woman who is a current Tenant in this home. This has been an ongoing Case involving this woman tenant who has verbally threatened me this year in saying to me "She is going to beat me up several times ." My job was working as their House Manager for this Independent Living Home for over (one year). This ILA House has been in operation in San Diego, CA for (4 Years) now. I still am charge of managing these (4 people) who are currently living inside this household. This woman tenant has a history of verbal abuse and also of physically assaulting (2) senior citizen women in this household last year in July of 2025 and this year in August 9, 2026. This woman also has a very serious mental illness that's very difficult to deal with when she is off her medication every day. I have called the San Diego Police Officers several times this year in 2026 to drive out to our house to talk to her and to arrest her for these other crimes this woman tenant has committed inside this property. I learned the San Diego Police Department has not responded very well to my urgent requests to get this long term woman tenant punished for her verbally abusive behavior and also for her physically abusive behavior towards (2 women) currently living in this house. Whenever, I have talked to San Diego Officer Mitchell, Officer Aguiano, and Officer Messenger who work for the San Diego Police Station at the Southeastern District. These San Diego COPS said it's a long process to get someone Evicted from this Independent Living Home because I will have to follow their instructions to go through the San Diego County Courthouse Procedures and their Policies. It has been a lot of work for me and another person to get these documents filed and refilled yesterday. Me and another person was able to get everything done and that is Thank You to Alexandra who works in the Legal Aide Office yesterday who agreed to type up this (62 Page ) Emergency Temporary Restraining Order against this woman tenant who currently is a resident in this ILA Home. But I had to fill out several documents beforehand to complete this paperwork and then I had to turn in my completed paperwork to Michelle this Legal Aide Employee who was working at the front office yesterday morning. Since my Emergency Restraining Order was signed and Approved by this San Diego Woman Judge yesterday, I will be protected from being verbally harassed by this woman senior citizen who has threatened me in this place . This woman tenant will also be served by an official San Diego Sheriff Deputy sometime this week or next week at her residence in this Independent Living House soon.

On top of that, the lawyer mistakenly filled out a box he shouldn't have, causing another 2-3-month delay. The third time I sent it in, they told me my fee waiver had expired after six months--something I wouldn't have had to deal with if they hadn't taken so long to return my paperwork. When I finally made it to the sheriff's office, they hadn't checked off a required box, forcing me to go upstairs for reprints, which added another 30 minutes to the process. Now, with new laws and protocols for bank levies, even the staff seems unsure about the procedures. While all the employees have been friendly and helpful, the overall government system is extremely disorganized, making the entire process frustrating and inefficient.

FILING All of the filing can be done online, but they also accept paper filing here. Honestly, if you are in the area and have something to file in the BK court, stop by and file it in person. To be frank, it is a lot easier and faster than taking the entire lesson and test on how to eFile in this court. SECURITY The security is a little tighter than most state courthouses, but not as strict at the Federal Building. Here, you have to remove all metal and anything with wires from you and your person, but it beats taking off your shoes. Also, I can't say that I have ever seen a line here. SERVICE The court clerks are very helpful and will assist you with any questions you have. They will even help you use the CM/ECF (Case Management/Electronic Case Files) system on computers they have in the back for public access. CLEAN The bathrooms are always very clean. When I say clean, I mean spotless. PARKING There are a few places to park on the street but they are mostly meters. I usually get pretty lucky when I'm looking for parking for this courthouse. Overall, this is one of my favorite courthouses because it is neither too big or confusing to navigate, because everyone is really nice and helpful, and because it really is a beautiful part of San Diego's history.

The vibe is fun but not too chaotic, and I usually find it pretty relaxing just walking around the area. There are a lot of restaurants around here, especially authentic Mexican restaurants, plus unique little shops and a lively atmosphere with live music and performances here and there. The whole area feels very family friendly, walkable, and parking and restrooms are pretty convenient too. They also sell a lot of random little things that are fun to look at. There's even one incense shop that I really like , the prices are reasonable and I always end up stopping by when I'm here. I just like spending time here. There are also quite a few nice spots for photos, so it's easy to just walk around, take pictures, and enjoy the atmosphere without rushing.

This is my first time at South Bay i have never been so humiliated and embarrassed in my entire…read morelife I was on the phone back and forth for 30 days with the staff I'm still waiting for one person to call me back about a request that I had ask about I did everything they ask me to do and that entire time no one told me about their dress code and I have been to other state prisons and I can wear anything and add a jacket At first enter the lady said I cannot wear my jacket so I had to buy a T-shirt so I went and got a white T-shirt upon reentry they started the check in counted every piece of jewelry I had on how every each time I go thru their scanner I would beep after fighting everything off broke my necklace and my tennis bracelet and took my wig off so that I would not beep they now said my dress has a split I still cannot go in. Also later told me that white t-shirt are not allowed when she sent me to buy a T-shirt . they intentionally put me thru this humiliation and embarrassment knowing that they were not going to allow me in the facility. The staff intentionally put me thru this and they all gathered to watch !!! I will be consulting my lawyer !!

At first i was being helped by a young woman who was great. However, my paperwork was handed over to her coworker. As some of you know, there's plexiglass and a microphone between us. The man was not using the microphone at all and kept cutting in and out. Not only was it difficult to understand him, but he was getting more and more agitated even after his coworker helped him. I did not appreciate being treated like a criminal when I was just there to process paperwork. The only reason I gave a star is because the woman who initially assisted me was very professional and even tempered. Just goes to show there's certain people who work in customer service/ relations who really shouldn't be there. Beyond disappointed.

My Personal Experience with Judge Rosy Meyerowitz…read more I appeared before Judge Rosy Meyerowitz in a family-law matter at the East County courthouse. My experience was extremely upsetting and left me with serious concerns about how my case was handled. I felt that the judge relied heavily on her own opinions, impressions, and perceptions rather than approaching my circumstances with the neutrality and understanding I expected in a complicated family-law matter. I was on the stand to start my hearing when my husband's attorney asked Judge Meyerowitz for permission to serve me. She gave permission, and my husband's attorney personally served me in the courtroom. My husband was not present in court that day. I have PTSD, and this was extremely distressing for me. I was also concerned about what I perceived as a lack of experience and perspective in handling the complexity of my circumstances. Judge Meyerowitz was appointed to the Superior Court bench in 2024. I also personally observed what I felt was a very harsh manner toward other people appearing in the courtroom. I believe litigants deserve patience, dignity, courtesy, and consideration. This review reflects my personal experience and concerns. I am pursuing the appropriate legal channels to address them. One positive thing was the bailiff. He is always kind understanding, considerate and I very much appreciate that:)
