The first attempt to get donuts was to get some paczki for Fat Tuesday a few months ago, but the box of dozen wasn't much of a savings than buying them individually. Was only $2 save for a box of dozen. Individual paczki $3.50, a dozen for $40. :/ Today I decided to grab a half dozen for our staff at the store. I got a glazed donut, apple fritters, custard with chocolate frosting, cinnamon roll, red velvet and a sour cream donut. Half dozen was $12, that's $2 a donut. Oh my. The apple fritter and the cinnamon roll donuts are rather big, that usually worries me, big donuts doesn't always mean it's better. The apple fritter was crunchy and textured, not mock apples and a lot of dough bumps, which isn't a bad thing. The cinnamon roll was big and billowy, got a big of the cinnamon flavor in the bullseye, but not much hint through the rest of the donut. The sour cream donut wasn't bad, it's not as sour cream or buttermilk flavored as I was hoping. The red velvet and glazed were decent. The custard chocolate was disappointing to me, the custard wasn't as good as I had hoped at all and rather sparse too. All of the donuts are light and fluffy as far as the dough, it's not bad.

The shop itself is a bit dingy and dim, and the counter shown in pictures was blocked with boxes and plastic--no place to sit. I arrived before 11 AM on a Friday and the selection was already pretty picked over. The one worker got swamped when a crowd came in, and the tight space made the whole experience feel rushed. I ordered two donuts (cheap, which was nice), but they were tossed in a bag together with no divider, so the frosting stuck together which made it a pain to get them out of the bag to eat. No napkins were given. Fortunately, I remembered to ask for some. One donut was chocolate with sprinkles, the other had buttercream filling with white frosting. Both were decent, nothing amazing. I tried to sit outside, but the chairs were old and dirty. They looked liked they came from an old elementary school. To top it off, someone came up trying to sell me a "$600" motorcycle helmet for $100. I decided to make a quick exit. If I lived nearby, I might grab a dozen to-go, but it's not worth a special trip. There's a seating area and some items you can purchase near the back. My boyfriend ordered an Americano (of course), and for me, a latte. The Americano came out quite hot so it took him a while to finish it but he said it was good. My latte was creamy and delicious. I wish there was a bit more in the cup and a touch warmer but either way, I was very pleased. They use beans that are roasted locally which is a nice plus! It's a cute spot to visit with a friend or quietly sit and contemplate life while looking out the front window. Get on board and go!
