We had been out walking all day - or in my case shall I say dragging my feet and hungover self through Corbridge. Arriving for an early seating we were shown to a corner table just inside. We ordered some white wine and on the barman's recommendation he came over and suggested a cheaper bottle which was his personal favourite and said if we tried it and didn't like he would drink it later on! All in good humour we loved the wine and continued on our decisions on the food... I shared the arribatta mussels whereas my dad opted for a seafood platter for one which was huge! After mopping up the mussel sauce with some soft italian bread we all try tested some of the offerings from the seafood platter including; some pate, fresh salmon and some crab -YUM! For the main event I went for the Fillet al Pepe i.e. fillet steak in a gorgeous creamy peppercorn sauce. Arriving medium to rare with a smothering of sauce and side of chips and some vegetable to share I was back in steak heaven! I've been in at different times of the day and I am always given the same menu with Happy Hour printed on the top. The prices are very reasonable. Starters starting at £2.95, main courses from £4.95 and Steaks for about £9.95. Even though it is an Italian restaurant they do a few english meals and often have specials on the board. The staff are nice enough and so is the food. You get nice food for a really nice price. The restaurant could do with a good overhaul and redecoration, but if your not after somewhere fancy it definatly fills you up.

Although the main car park is shared with the Travel Lodge and is fairly small, they do have an overflow car park that can be used if needed. Everytime I have been there, the food has been fantastic, the service quick and efficient and the atmosphere friendly an welcoming. The prices are fairly reasonable and well worth it for the quality of the food. I can recommend the Chicken proscuitto it was delicious! The interior is quite large and is an ideal place for parties etc.

On the plus side, the atmosphere was pleasant, and while the restaurant was clearly busy, the staff remained attentive. The steak was as tough as old boots and came with a large amount of fat on it. I wanted a glass of red wine but had to buy a bottle. I picked the cheapest at £9.95 it was OK. The service was slow and it was a Tuesday night. I assume they weren't expecting many customers. One customer came in read the menu, waited then left. I think the staff had not been trained very well rather than lack of staff. My steak and chips and wine was £27. The stake and chips were £16 but it wasn't worth half that. Its the quality of the steak and the slow service that I did not like. I would not go there again, There are so many better restaurants in that area.

I've been there twice and had fish on both visits: a beer battered cod (which was huge and very fresh) with traditional fish and peas on my last visit I chose fish pie, which was scrummy! Fish isn't compulsory there's plenty of meat dishes, as well as a good selection of veggie choices. Don't be put off by the dreary exterior it doubles as a bar after 7pm.

And at some point throughout the evening, they just stopped collection our empty glasses so our table got cluttered. The restaurant is at the top of the building with windows from all directions. Even the restroom (the sink area, not the actual WC) had a nice view of the river/city. 2) The food was so elegant and presented as art - yet everything was very tasty. I enjoyed everything and the quantity and quality was perfect for my three course meal. and 3) Service was prompt and refilled our glasses often.
