This dog park is quiet and out of the way. It has separate areas for large and small dogs. No grass in these parks but great place to let your dogs off leash. They have a watering spot and some clean up tools. I like this location since it is so relaxing and calming for both you and your dogs. I have not scene many aggressive animals and plenty of space to move around. You can bring your favorite dog toy and not worry about another dog wanting to play with it. read more

City of Pinole Public Works Dept,, Mayor & City Council over that years has let this park FAIL it's Public patrons as it's Very Dirty Eroded, A Real Toilet/Cesspool, dusty, muddy, with lots of feces/poop, foxtails, lots of BIG-sharp drain-rocks, Park is in disrepair, run-down aka like it's old/original property-use which was used as 1of Pinole's City Dump 25-30 yrs ago! So this is the closest dog park to me so I go here every once in a while. The owners have been nice, especially when it was my first time there. I've only been a handful of times but I've never really seen anything bad happen. The only thing is there's this regular there, old lady with two older dogs, who is always screaming at her dogs. The last time I was there it was her and two other owners. I let my dog go once I entered (I do take fault in this part because my dog just ran up on them) but she started yelling at my dog and tried to hit him at least twice. I've never hit my dog so he had no idea what she was doing and was just trying to play. As she was walking out I grabbed my dog because one 1) I at least respect others enough to know if they don't want my dog near them, I'll try and grab him back 2) she was trying to hit him again. As she was waking out she said that dogs need to be fixed before coming in. I didn't see that in the board. If anyone can take a pic that's be helpful cause if it does then I'll take responsibility in that too. Honestly if she had just told me off that'd be fine but she 1) tried to hit my dog 2) said my dog was aggressive (?If he was aggressive I would have taken him out) 3) at one point it looked like she was about to call the cops on me 4) she took so many pictures of me and my dog 5) pretty sure she took a video of me too. Other than that owner everyone has been great. I've seen her there before so I'm sure the regulars have as well. My wolf and I really enjoy this park. We play here sporadically during the week and always have fun, not only do the dogs enjoy each other but the owners that frequent this spot, aren't too bad either! Came to visit this park since it's close to where I live and after my first visit it will definitely be my last. I brought my 10 month old Siberian husky here and right when he got in and started playing and running around he got attached by a larger dog! At first I thought they were playing until it got really rough between the dogs and my poor little husky was on his back looking so helpless. I ran over to help him while the other dog owner just laughed about it! Get your freaking dog! Some people should not be dog owners if they don't know how to handle them. Not only was he attacked but the park it self is so small. It seems like it's just someone's backyard! If high want to go to a dog park I suggest going to Point Isabelle by Costco in Richmond! Pretty dog park- lots of oaks and shade and a little stream next to it. I even heard a peacock! The dogs were friendly when I was here late afternoon in a weekday and not too crowded. Only downsides were I couldn't find it easily and I couldn't tell big dog side from little dog - dog sizes were all mixed ! This would be a nice respite on a hot summer day . read more

Started coming to this park when I moved to the area a year ago. Been here a couple of times to be able to rate and review. Have two yappy little dogs that love the open space and green grass. There is enough distance from the large dog area so that the littles like mine don't get fixated on the big dogs. There's a couple of benches, plenty of water bowls, a water faucet, poop scoopers and bags. Ample parking and good shade when it gets a little hot. read more

My dog Frankie loves this place! He's a small dog around 17 lbs and he loves to play in both the big dog and little dog sides. On weekday evenings when we usually go, there are always a few dogs on either side. Frankie is a little ball of energy and I come here often to let him run and socialize to his hearts content. It's also a nice way to unwind after work, watching the dogs play and enjoying the scenic park and surrounding hills. Every once in a while someone will ask us to leave the big dog side because their dog is aggressive towards little dogs, but for the most part I feel comfortable with Frankie playing there. read more

For some unknown reason, though, the Park dept. is still watering the grounds, so on Thursdays, the grass is wet. I came here the day after a hard rain not thinking too much about it. When I got here, there was a good amount of parking, there's two sections one of bigger dogs and another for the smaller dogs. The smaller dog section had more dirt than grass so the floor became muddy so fast. The other section was a huge enclosed area for larger dogs and most dogs were in there. This place has a little creek snd bridge to walk across and then you'll arrive in front of a baseball field, play ground, and nice area to walk around. Don't come to this place after a rain because the floor will be very muddy for your dog. This place seems to have a nice park for larger dogs and there is plenty of room for the dogs to run around. read more

Attacked by a pit bull! Please, help me find this horrible woman (who claims to foster for rescue groups) and her nasty dog. I've really enjoyed bringing my dog to this park in the past, but this last Monday (September 2, 2013) really changed things for me. The majority of dogs that we've encountered there are really nice and well-adjusted, but this experience has taught me that I need to vigilantly police the actions of other dogs because no matter how nice most of the owners are there are always going to be a few scumbags that slump their way into the park. My ridgeback was attacked without provocation or any kind of warning by a red-nose pit bull who was white with light brown patches. I'm pretty sure I heard the lady call her Heidi, but I'm not sure. She also had a slate gray and white blue-nose pit with her. The owner had platinum bleached blonde hair, medium build, maybe 5'7'', probably in her 40s. She had a guy with her, who I am told is her son. He was taller and had short dark hair (probably brown). The red-nose approached my dog and as he was sniffing and saying hello, she went for his throat and face. He has a deep puncture on the back of his neck and somewhere between 7-9 punctures on his cheek (he won't hold still long enough for me to get an accurate count), and one very deep puncture inside his mouth in the gum next to his teeth. I called animal control and as we were waiting for them she faked like she was going to wait and then snuck off. I'm pretty sure that she was driving a dark blue, newer-looking, 4-door Prius. Her son moved their car before I could get the license plate. I was really upset about my dog and distracted by the second-guessing of people that witnessed the attack, so she was long gone before I knew it. Before she left though she tried to psyche me out by telling me that she thinks I'm a really angry person and of course she would have taken care of everything associated with her dog attacking mine because she has acted as a foster before and so on. The report with animal control really needs to be updated with the information about the attacking dog so that further action may be taken if random attacks are a regular thing with that woman's dog. That dog's behavior suggests that she is temperamentally unstable. Further, she needs to reimburse me for my dog's veterinary bills. It's people and dogs like them who keep the bad reputation that pit bulls have alive and well. She had no business bringing an unstable pit bull to the dog park and her unwillingness to take responsibility for her dog's actions prove that she is unfit to own dogs at all. If anyone can help me track her down, I'd be really grateful. read more

Very nice park off the main road. The park is well maintained and everyone has seemed to be responsible picking up after their dogs. The large area has several trees scattered amongst the dirt wooded ground. The small side doesn't have any trees but has grass. There is a nice water station at each park. So far haven't had too many issues but parking is limited depending on the time of day. Gets busier late afternoon/ evening and there are several regulars that we have enjoyed talking with. Like any park there are a few of those people who just bring their dog and take a seat on one of the benches and pay zero attention to their dog. My biggest complaint is those people tend to sit at the bench closest to the gate making it impossible to get in or out because their dogs are out of control trying to rush at my dog and I. I enjoy that it is fairly close to my house but would be amazing if there was a place with lights for later access. read more

We love taking our own dogs as well as our fosters here. It's great when you want to relax but let your dog get some exercise as you can sit while your dog plays. With the nice fenced in areas you don't have to worry about your dog disappearing. It's also a great place to take rescued dogs so that they can be socialized while in a safe, confined, public area. The park is generally clean and there's almost always other people there. We love the separation of the big & small dog sides too. Great place to spend a Saturday morning with the four legged family. P.S. I can't believe the other yelpers complaint about pit bulls coming to the park. Pit bulls are dogs too and need exercise just like any other breed. Maybe the guy who has a problem with pits should keep his dachshund on the SMALL dog side..Duh seems like common sense to me. City council...really? Get a life read more

I will Never bring LaLa to this park again! The only time my baby's ever been bit was at this park around last summer. I looked away for one second to pick up her b@@ b@@ and heard her scream. I was kind of far but when I looked LaLa's tale was under her rear! It was a timid dog that bit her leg. LaLa is hyper and Loves to run and play. She has been going to this park since she was a pup. It was obvious the dog that bit her was prob traumatized at some point. LaLa likes to run and she plays a little rough, but not aggressive. Well, the whole time there, LaLa interacted with all dogs as usual, barking, running and jumping. But this dog was scarey of all the dogs. But it wasn't vicious until i was across the yard. Now. "I" heard LaLa from way across the yard. I ran over there and all them mf's looking up to the left with that "I'm Singing In The Rain" look on they face. While checking LaLa NOBODY saw nothing and only one person uttered sum bs bout "they didn't see anything ". BS! Then, my baby's tale stayed under her but, and now she was staying away from this dog who is now following her! Punk a$$ dog and owner and all them ppl sitting around.!! She NVR Did this before! I didn't see no bites on her and we was outta there. It was when I got home I found the bite on her ankle. I was fuming. I went back but that dog was gone! And so was ALL thE other ppl. I knew, and everyone knew what dog did it. It happened right by the bench where the owners post up! I also take LaLa to Newhall dog park and that was the only off lease I took her to for a while. At first she was a little scarred, but time she got over it. Dog owners there are more responsible. So, this happened 1 yr ago. I took here there yesterday, first, I had to ask the owners to call their dogs away from greeting me and LaLa's arrival. And when we got in I almost caught a case behind fn sumbods dog up! Sooø, me and LaLa left. We will NEVER go back there again. The 2 ppl that were there were not paying attention to their aggressive dogs. It was two guys and I don't know who had what dog(S)! I tried to see if they were just playing rough with LaLa. LaLa can handle her own, but I have to calm down other ppls dogs?!! And , they ain't even paying. Atten! No, Nvr again! read more

This park is off Pinole Valley road up a hill past the fire station. I had a little trouble finding it at first. Once we found it, we quickly found one of 13 parking spots and wandered over to the fenced dog areas with our boys. We opted for the small dog area. It's a decent-sized area with a manicured lawn, a couple trees, a big tree stump and some outdoor seating. We sat and relaxed while our dogs happily socialized with a small group of other dogs. Everyone (including the dogs) were very friendly and the boys seemed to have a great time. I just wish there was some more room to roam so they could get properly tired. I'll definitely consider returning if I'm in the area. read more

Even though my cocker spaniel is only 30 pounds, we always go to the "big dog" section. The little dogs just get too overwhelmed by all of his energy. Went on a Tuesday afternoon, just to check out the place, see if it would be worth a return trip if my parents come visit and bring their dogs. It's a good alternative to our backyard, just because of the space. There was poop in the yard, which is frustrating. And the "yard" was more like a dirt patch with a few patches of weedy grass. The "little dog" park had a lot more grass, though. (I would have gone in, but there was someone in there already, and his dog was a little aggressive. Normally, I would have gone in anyways, but I'm 35 weeks pregnant, and I didn't want to put myself at any sort of risk. Furbaby got all his running in, anyways.) If you've never been before, it's behind the field on Pinole Valley Road. There's a little bridge, and then the two parks, big dogs on the left, small dogs on the right. I WOULD have given it 3 stars, but as I type this, my poor furbaby is exhausted and sleeping on my feet. He loved it a lot more than I did, and I guess that's what's important. read more

This place has two separate gated areas, one for smaller breeds and the other for bigger breeds. There's an adequate amount of space to let the dogs run, a faucet to fill the community water bowl, and there are always plenty of bags to pick up after your furry friend. This place is great too, because there are plenty of chairs, benches, and even a table to sit at. I've met some cool people here to talk to while my dog plays with theirs, and overall, everyone is friendly. There aren't many dog parks around here, so this place is great, especially if you live in Pinole and its surrounding areas. read more

My shelter rescue and I love this dog park on weekends and mornings before work. We have become regulars over the past few months. I have always liked the separate small dog and large dog play areas. The grass is nicely maintained in the small dog and the dogs have places to run around. The large dog area has suffered more wear and tear over the years. As it has a slight slope, rain water and pushed mud down over the grass near the parking lot entrance, turning it into dry dirt, and the pesky gophers have caused holes from the dogs digging, so watch were you step. Those are cosmetic issues in IMO. The area is quite large, which wears out my rescue good. Both areas are stocked with poop bags and have a bucket for fresh water. In general, most dogs that play here are great. Some of the guardians however..... I have heard from other regulars that the crowd in the AM is nothing like the PM crowd. After 4pm it can be a bit dicey as there are aggressive dogs and inattentive guardians. Great people and great dogs await your four legged family member at the Pinole Dog Park. read more

The first time I came to this park with my pup, I had an awesome experience! Max enjoyed playing with the other dogs in the small yard. I wasn't able to take him to this park due to the rain so after a few months of not taking him, we went, and immediately was told by a dog owner that her dog doesn't like to socialize. Really?!? My dog ended up getting nervous when too many dogs would approach him and would growl. My dog would sniff other dogs' behind and the owners yelled at my dog and decided to pull HIS collar. Not their responsibility! Never again will I go to this park. Seems like a park for older owners who don't want their dogs to do anything. If only my dog was bigger, I could take him to where the big dogs are at. They seems a lot more compassionate. I've switched to POINT ISABEL! read more

This dog park is great. A perfect place to help your puppy or dog learn to socialize and work off some energy. There are two gated areas. one for BIG dogs and one for SMALL dogs. IF you bring your SMALL dog into the BIG dog area... hey, that's your risk your taking. Anyway, I hang out with my pup in the small dog area and he's been doing pretty good. The people that come here are nice and many are regulars. I'm already learning some of the dog names. Poopy bags are available, so be clean parents. Very nice set up. read more

My dog and I love this park! There is a little section for small dog and another section for bigger dogs! Most people are responsible and keep their dogs on good behavior though every once and a while there is a bit of fighting. This park is generally not too popular so it's perfect for doing you're own thing. It's a good way to practice your dogs social skills. There are also many trails to walk on! It's a little creepy to go on your own because it has a kinda Radom location but if you go with a friend, family member or partner it's very nice! (Not the cleanest places to sit for if you plan on being there for a few hours being a chair.) It is definitely a hit or miss with the amount of dogs. read more

I have a German Shepherd puppy, thus the option of a large, gated field for larger breeds, and the smaller, gated smaller breed field is great. Basically, I think dog parks are bad. They are a great idea, and provide a nice off-leash space, but typically owners and dogs are not well trained. The Pinole Dog Park is no exception. It is great that they try to separate the smaller dogs their own area. Parking is good and the location is woodsy and friendly. We live about a mile away, and my regular dog walks go by the Pinole Dog Park. We do not go inside anymore. Over the years three of my dogs have been attacked. Twice I have been bitten, by other dogs, while getting mine clear. My current dog is a 100lbs rottweiler/shepherd mix, now 8-years old. I am not afraid for him, I am worried other dogs will be aggressive with him. We just do not want the drama or the additional vet bills. One possible option is to get the $10/year EBMUD Trail pass. Dogs must stay leashed, but there are a couple of nice trails locally where dogs are allowed. read more

This dog park is not a park for Responsible owners. My dog and I were at the park today and 3 other dogs were playing and one of the 3 dogs started to get very aggressive. However, the owner of the aggressive dog never called his dog back. I then had to get the aggressive dog off my dog my tellin my dog to protect me in German and after that the other dog ran off.. the aggressive dog owner never acknowledged what his dog did or anything. I came across this park by accident. I was looking for a place to walk/exercise. This park looked cute. Kids playing soccer on the fields, a nice playground and a little bridge that takes you across a creek and to a dog park. I came back the next day with my dog. But there are signs for rattlesnakes. We did see one on the gravel path past the dog park. So be aware. Otherwise this is a cute, smaller park. read more

I'm always a little wary of dog parks but I liked this one. It has two sections to sepaerate big from small which prevents potential problems in the first place. The grass is a bit sparse in places but dogs don't care about that. At first it seemed a bit small but actually found there was plenty of room to throw a ball and wear my yellow lab out especially as part of the enclosed area is on a hill. The people are really friendly and there's a real sense of community. I prefer to go on weekdays when it's quiet. The only issue I've had here is with a really big mastif. It was on the other side of the fence but seemed overly focused on my dog and not in a friendly way. I've seen dogs jump fences from sitting, so that time anyway we decided to leave. Overall though It's a great little place to take your dog. read more

This is one of the smaller dog parks that I've been to. There are two sections for the smaller and larger dogs and dog bags toward the front. I found this park to be very obscure and out of the way as I had to circle two times to find this park off the side of a dead end street. Usually, there are very few to hardly any dogs throughout the day as this is out of the way. I would say that it's a decent enclosure for dogs who cannot be off leash if you live in the area, but nothing special especially if you live in another city. Also, be careful of certain individuals, but otherwise most are amicable. Both sides can get very muddy during the rainy season, so be forewarned. read more

I love it here! My boyfriend and I have to move a lot for work and this is by far one of my favorite dog parks we've come across. It's HUGE! People are friendly and all the amenities you could need are easily accessible. There are also a couple trails right next store to it that lead to an awesome overlook of the city! read more
