10/21/2020 Came for the fetch yard. I got super lucky when calling last minute for a play sesh. The lady on the phone was very polite and communicative. All I needed to complete was a customer profile and show proof of current rabies & vaccinations prior to playtime. I want to expose our pooch to other fun activities other than dog parks and hiking trails. This place has been on my mind since before we picked the young lad up in April. Our 8 month Shepherd AmStaff mix was pleased to say the least. Immediately after entering the yard he obviously did a short round taking a few sniff snoffs. But had no problem jumping right in to play fetch. I was worried he wouldn't be focused on our game and more into the surroundings but he proved me wrong. He played HARD for about a half an hour and let me know soon after that it was time to break. He drank almost two bottles of water. His life motto is "water is life" & "got water?!" I was able to refill his first bottle at the provided water station area near the office. The office had a doggy shampoo tub in one corner. It and the office appeared spotless. With a farm full of animals this was a shock so bravo to the staff. The grounds were also very well kept. I did not see any trash, poop, funk of any sort anywhere. The farm is very picturesque so I definitely took advantage of that. Good thing pup doesn't mind posing for his paparazzi. Me! Next time we're going to try the pond area. That should be silly fun and a nice way to introduce swimming. ***Update 10/23/2020: We tried the pond and it was well worth it! read more

My boyfriend recommended me this place because he always brings his dog when him and his family go out of town. It's a day care for doggies. Wow! They did an amazing job with bathing my dog Toby. He's super soft, fluffy, and smells so good. Miranda did such a great job. I definitely recommend this place. They're really attentive with your dog. We left our year and half old Griffon there with the quoted prices of overnight and a 'surf and turf' add on. I explained clearly that this was our dog's first time being left overnight at a kennel so he'd probably be a bit nervous. We pick him up and were told that there were extra charges for two days because he was aggressive and they had to bring a 'specialist' in to handle him? If it's a dog's first time being left at a kennel wouldn't one expect that a 'specialist' be there, as part of a staff, or better yet, an owner, to assess how a first time boarder will handle such a new and scary environment? One would think so. We were never told there would be a $15 dollar a day add on because they deemed our dog aggressive and had to bring someone in. Kind people and were great with my dog, Ms Pickles! I did ask the price of what I wanted, which was 20.00, but they neglected to tell me that they were picking up my dog and driving to their facility to cut her nails and clean her teeth. They charged mileage!!! The services were 20.00. The mileage was 50.00!!! I thought mobile service was driving to my house and doing the service!! I guess I'm uninformed, but I was really surprised!! Brought my little maltese-poodle mix here when we first moved to Santa Rosa to get groomed. They did a great job, and listened carefully to what I wanted. Athena came back looking absolutely adorable :) They have some of the cheapest prices around as well. I took one star off though because of their hours. I need a place where I can pick Athena up when I get off work, so at 5 or so. Originally they said that was fine, but then I got a call in the afternoon asking if it was possible for me to come earlier, since they were finished for the day and were hoping I could come sooner so they didn't have to wait around. Luckily work was slow so I was able to go earlier, so it wasn't that big a deal, but still a bit of an inconvenience. The only reason I haven't gone back, is that I need somewhere where they stay open a little later. So if that isn't an issue for you, then you'll love this place! :) read more

We took our 8 month old Belgium malinois Mocha last week for a doggy bath . After 2 hours we went to pick her up and she was super clean . Previously we would take her to petsmart but we would always recieve her still wet and with her nails still sharp . We found this place online and saw it was close to home so we gave it a try . Even though Mocha is a little hard to handle and has a lot of energy Frank the owner and his team were able to do a great job for Mocha . It definitely shows they know how to handle dogs especially with Belgium malinois since frank has 31 years of experience with them . Will be coming back again . read more

First I have a 75 lb, 2 year old American Bulldog and a 20 lb, 10 year old Pug. The can both be finicky and the big one can just be too excited and hard to handle. i deducted two stars and will not be returning to Dogfather due to a rigid enforcement of their 1:00pm pick up policy. I got stuck in traffic due to a lane closure on 101 and ended up getting there at 1:15pm. As a result I was charged the full half day fee of $18, over and above my two day boarding fee of $72. The owner expressed that it is a business decision and he is the cheapest around. To me $18 for 15 minutes Is ridiculous and made the entire stay expensive. Every business has rules but also have flexibility and goodwill towards their customers. Dogfather lacks that consideration. Had he even reduced the extra by half I would have been satisfied. If you are going to be late you might as well leave your dog until 6:30pm since it will cost the same. I informed him that I will not be bringing my dog back there again. The three stars are for the young man who works there. His love of animals shows and he keeps the place spotless. We were made aware from the start that dogs are kept separated during their time there which was not a problem for us. My impression of the young man gave me full confidence that he would treat our dog as if his own. read more

After an extensive online search to find a place to board my pup while in Santa Rosa, I ran across the Dogfather, and I'm so glad I did. Every other place I had found required an evaluation prior to them staying the night. Since I was heading up for a vacation and didn't have an extra day to do an evaluation, I was so glad that the Dogfather didn't require this. The facility is set up so well and Willa had a blast...they had playtime out in their huge field. The owner, Frank, was great and you can tell he really loves what he does. I would highly recommend the Dogfather...and I am a very picky doggy mom. I get anxiety sometimes when I have to leave Willa, but I knew she'd be fine and have fun. read more

I have a 150lb Great Dane who tends to have an attitude when kenneled. Frank is very responsive to his needs, and actually takes the time to deal with him on a one to one basis. I don't think we would be treated as well any where else like the Dogfather. It also makes the family feel better knowing Frank is taking care of him. Frank is awesome! He keeps his facility spotless and takes excellent care of pets. His setup is to have individual dog boarding, with large exercise areas that the dogs can see each other, but not play together. This is great to eliminate the chance of dog fights and minimizing the chance to share fleas or communicable diseases. Will definitely be coming back if we ever need our dog boarded again. Ok so first impressions... This place is absolutly the cleanest kennel I have ever seen, there is no foul smells or dirty play area's. Each dog is kept seperate from the other in large play area's with plenty of toys for them to play with. I prefer this because of previous incidents at other kennels have left my pup injured before from an aggresive dog. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and they offer a variety of activities from a scenic walk, playing fetch in a large fenced field, or even swimming in a filtered pond. They do have an on site grooming salon and offer baths for your pup before they go home to be nice and clean. I would definitely recommend this kennel to anybody looking to board their dogs. The prices are the lowest in town and for the service its worth every penny. I recommend visiting the kennel and seeing for yourself. read more

My dog has severe separation anxiety but she loves this place and the people who take care of her there. The staff are excellent. The two young men who work at intake are professional, cordial, and great with animals. I highly recommend their doggie daycare as a fun and inexpensive way to get piece of mind over your pet. I dropped our family Lab Riley off to the dogfatherk9connections on Tuesday 11/07 for a 7 night stay at Frank Romanos facility. I chose this daycare because they claim to handle special needs dogs. Frank was the one who took Riley at dropoff at 9AM. Riley takes a quarter of a strong sedative for anxiety and a whole pill for for his allergies 2 times a day. I made the dosing and administering instructions very clear to the owner, who mentioned he would be taking care of Riley a majority of his stay. On 11/14 I arrived at Frank's at 9:00AM as scheduled. The young lady nearly dragged my dog out from the back and I could immediately tell something was not right the second I saw him. He was losing a lot of hair near the top of his tail and could barely lift his head when she handed the leash to me. I asked the young woman what was wrong or why my dog was acting the way he was. She told me it was the first day she had seen him so it was normal, and that Frank was watching him for the 6 days prior. When I get home my usually overactive dog could barely stand and when it came evening I removed his medication from the bag we dropped it off in I discovered that a months worth of sedative was given to my dog in the one week period, and his allergy medication was untouched. I really should have read the Yelp reviews more carefully, I see one about another dogs medications that were misused. I'm lucky I only left for one week, because I feel like if I left him there longer he could have been more seriously hurt. I called the owner Frank to mention this incident. His temper was very short when to asked him about my dogs medication and mentioned the missing portion. he got quite vocal and told me "that he is the cheapest in town, and that I'm welcome to go anywhere else" I didn't even mention the bill.. Just that my dog got 4 times the vet recommended dose of a strong sedative that could have killed him while the owner himself was caring for the dogs. My dog could have gotten seriously hurt, and all he is worried about was the money? If your dog has medications, beware of this kennel read more

I am so happy with Frank and his crew! I board my German Shepherd and Terrier mix when I have to travel. Frank texts me photos and makes me feel comfortable with being so far away. I have three dogs - a German Shepherd - she is not a fan of grooming, a Cockapoo - she loves to be pampered, and a Schweenie - she has very ticklish feet. I left my black Lab at Dogfather K9 Connections for four weeks this summer, and signed him up for the two daily extras that I know he loves: swimming and chasing a ball. When he came home for DK9C, he was suffering from multiple lesions on his legs and torso, some of which were bleeding. He has an allergy which could conceivably account for this, but the allergy is completely controlled by a small, daily dose of Prednisone. They claimed to have given him his medicines according to schedule, and held up the empty medicine bottle to prove it. However I had left an extra week's supply with them just in case my return was delayed. If the five-week supply was gone after four weeks, there are two explanations: either they either overdosed my dog, or they threw away some -- or all -- of the meds. Given his condition when I came back, it seems more likely that they threw it all away and he never received any medication at all. If he had stayed any longer, the lesions might have become infected with dire consequences. I would NEVER leave my dog there again. read more

This is a horrible place! Do not even waste your time dealing with this business. They are unprofessional and rude. I made an appointment for my dogs and when I arrived no one was there. There were 2 very stressed dogs locked in a mini van parked in front with a garbage bag for windows. I entered the business and there was no one in sight. There was a very aggrevated large dog in a kennel in the middle of the floor who was barking and going crazy. The dog was moving the kennel all over the room. It was scary. I took my dogs back into my vehicle and waited 15 more minutes and still no one showed up. I called the business several times and ended up with their voicemail. I left a message stating my experience. A few hours later I received a message back from the owner. He accused me of coming onto his property when the gate and his business was closed. This is completely false. Gate to driveway was open and so was the business door. I was told to come between 3 and 330. I was there at 315. The audacity of him to accuse a customer of this is ridiculous! He did call back to apologize after saying he had left the property to get food. I am not sure if he is the only person working there, but the whole experience was beyond negative and I will not go back. read more
