Had the prix fix lunch. Potted fish, bubble and squeak and quince crumble. All tasty, although the crumble was so bland I sort of wonder if the quince got left out. My gin and tonics were good (huge gin selection) and so was the service. I'd probably give them 3 stars, except the meal was a good deal, and all of my neighbor's food (not on the prix fix menu) smelled amazing. The Pint Shop is what I call a "new pub". Sure, those cozy little living room-type establishments that dot Britain are fun to visit, but they increasingly host generic taps and threadbare carpet. Pint Shop - as a new pub - is different. It has an open, bright floorplan, a reasonable amount of seating, and solid selection of craft beers. It's conveniently located. Another day trip to Cabridge. Another group of people that insist on the going to get something to eat at The Eagle, despite my protests. With some extra time to kill, we moved down the street to Pint Shop. Sitting in the bar, underneath the rotating chalkboard menu of curated beers from around the U.K., and even a few nice selections from the US (Lagunitas Sucks), it was an excellent example of a third generation gastropub. This is our go to restaurant in Cambridge when we have guests in town. The food is reliable, the drinks are great, and you can make online reservations (the set menu from 5-7 is a lovely bonus). It doesn't break the bank depending on what you order, but at the same time you leave feeling happy. It does get loud the later into the evening it is, but a cozy atmosphere. read more

This place was very promising. Craft beer and great food. However I came in around 2:00pm, the restaurant refused to seat us. They refused to serve us the bar menu when we found a seat in the bar area. The host at the dining room was very rude about finding us seats, immediately said no, we can't seat you. Its very confusing when a restaurant refuses a customers money because they are fairly busy, (there were numerous tables open) It was a very strange experience. Went for dinner on a quiet bank holiday evening. Not much of a drinker but there is a very wide selection. Menu is limited in that there were no vegetation entree options.....but that's not what they are known for. The food was exceptional. I had the beer braised chicken (if I'm being really picky I'd say it was slightly dry )with garlic and my son had pork belly. He said it was the best meal he's had on this trip. Would have given 5 stars but the service wasn't quite there. Our waitresses shift must have ended but we weren't informed. New staff didn't seem to care about us. Never checked in and we had a hard time getting her attention when we needed something. read more

Great gastropub in the middle of Cambridge. Went there on a recommendation from a friend. Full selection of local keg/cask beer along with craft cocktails. Food is also surprisingly good (Scotch Egg is a must), high quality and reasonably priced. The service was personable and top notch. The meat is delicious! Servings are small and pricey, but taste great. The gin selection deserves a visit of its own!

Loved it, but so did lots of people. Book early. We couldn't wait the hour and a half for a table but in August, there were free tables out the back for a basic barbecued burger. Fab beers, I loved the sour raspberry. read more

Terrific beer selection. Very limited food available in the pub area. I went twice and both times it was standing room only.

Excellent food and service at this gastropub. Top notch beer selection. We really enjoy the patio out back for a casual meal or quick pint. Don't leave Cambridge without trying this place. The food is too good. Phenomenal recommendations from the server. Spit roasted overnight pork belly for main course. The crackling skin was sweet and well flavored but not too salty, and it encased some seriously juicy meat. That dish could be habit forming. Dessert was delicious: roasted banana with vanilla ice cream. Lack of wifi was bothersome, but that wouldn't stop me from going back. read more
