As a music lover, I enjoy looking at visual art that represents instruments, but I usually have to search really hard to find it in a collection. Yet this gallery is truly specialized. The prices are reasonable and there is quite a large range, so whether you want a souvenir from Cleveland (like I did) or a centerpiece of art for your home then this is the place to go. The owner also provides an option to get custom work made at the shop AND he does repairs for crystal art. I was not in the buying mood when I walked into this shop. In fact, I just wanted to see some free art. I ended up buying a beautiful coaster for $14, but if I lived closer and wasn't on a road trip then I would definitely buy a stained glass piece to display at home.

Cleveland! Where is everyone with their Zygote reviews?!…read more There are few places in Cleveland I've ever walked into and fell immediately in love with. Like, immediately. I'm not a printmaker by any means, but Zygote has truly inspired me to become more active with the medium. I've known about Zygote for a long time, but finally made a visit where I was able to tour the facility and shop in their incredible store. I purchased two original pieces by local artists in their store, which is a complete treasure trove of local prints, cards and other trinkets. I could have spent HOURS sifting through and observing the countless stacks of local prints at varying price ranges (everything from $20-$500+). The best part was that every piece was 100% unique. Side note: this is my new stop to purchase one-of-a-kind local art for others. I really appreciated the affordable range. If you're not familiar with Zygote, they are a non-profit offering super cool facilities for intaglio, (plate) lithography, relief printing, screen printing, letterpress, and digital media. They regularly host artists and artist exchanges, cool events, and an opportunity for regular folks like me to take classes. More experienced artists can become members or rent space. The physical space itself is bursting with character, tall ceilings and fun little details. They carry a wide range of vintage machines and newer tools, there's inspiring sample art on the walls, and the staff is really happy to help you. When you're there, you feel confident that you can create. Don't be shy to go in and visit sometime! They have a dedicated gravel lot with easy parking. While the door is locked, just hit the buzzer and the staff will come help you! Can't wait to come back and explore my new fascination with this world.

I came to Zygote Press for the first time this past Saturday to see a wood engraving exhibition. I…read morehad no idea what to expect of Zygote Press or what it was about. Zygote Press is a non-profit, cooperative, fine art printmaking workshop. ZP is a print studio that does shows with various types of art, offers work space and tools for artists, and offers classes and workshops for anyone to attend. Honestly, it's a really cool place. Check out their website and see all of the things they have going on. I'm really looking forward to taking a class or workshop. Additionally, they offer one on one classes for $25 or $35 an hour. I think it would be fun to get a small group of friends together for a letterpress or screen printing class or something. If you're looking for wall decor or a gift, you will be in luck. They have a bunch of art work that's ready to be taken home at a variety of prices. There was a LOT of stuff I would like to buy. When I have more $ to spend, I'll absolutely return to find a few interesting items for my home or as house warming gifts. All handmade and local. ZP also has other items for sale (coasters, cards, and other stuff I can't remember right now) that would make great gifts. If you're looking for Cleveland-centric items, I think you'll be in luck here. My credit card statement and I can verify that they accept credit cards. If you're in the area on a Wednesday afternoon or Saturday afternoon (hours are Wednesday 12pm - 4pm, Saturday 12 - 4pm & by appointment) you should stop in for a few minutes. Ring the bell at the door and someone will come down and let you in. It's just down the street from Li Wah/the Asia Plaza. It's easy to get to from Interstate 90 and they have a small parking lot next to the building. The people who were there that day (I'm not sure if they're employees or artists just there for the day) were extremely friendly and helpful. Check it out, folks!

The 78th Street Studios is a huge arts studio that also has a theatre on the 2nd floor called the Blank Canvas Theatre. I visited for the first time probably in 2018 or 2019 then I came in 2023 and so on. I've attended their 3rd Fridays art event plus some plays at the Blank Canvas Theatre. It's always nice walking around 78th street studios. It can get a little overwhelming because the building is so big and you may get lost but just follow the signs posted on the walls to find out where you're going. There is always so many people here, bumping into each other, and fighting over parking, so it is a bit overstimulating. But it is worth it as it is definitely one of the BEST places that host art festivals/fairs at least a dozen or so times a year. Support local and keep up the good work! My only suggestion is to avoid parking nearby and just walk to 78th Street Studios until they respray the parking lot lines and fill in some of the potholes...

I "ordered" the block printing project, and my friend "ordered" the embroidery project. I think you can also do collage and stamping projects. The projects range from $20-35 and are varying lengths of time to complete. I was a total newbie to block printing - the total of my instruction had been a 6 minute video tutorial. The owner made me feel very comfortable and gave clear instructions, but was generally hands off for me to figure things out through experimentation. You can't bring food to your project, but I believe you are allowed to bring in n/a drinks while you art. It was such a fun, relaxing way to start the weekend. I'll definitely be back.

Recently, I came here for a wedding and enjoyed the layout of the center for this type of event. There was a large open bar area with standing cocktail tables and ample room for mingling. The service from the bartenders to the servers was friendlier than at most other event centers I've been to. I appriciated the larger, clean bathrooms complete with little "emergency" items in a basket in the female restroom. The food wasn't fancy by any means, but I thought it was delicious in its own regard. The buffet style table in a separate room had delicious spiced beats, various pasta salads, the best veggie lasagna I've ever had, and other items. They even had mini-perogies and veggies with a cheese tray for snacks before food was served. No frills, nothing too pretentious, but good. I would reccomend this as a venue for those considering a small to medium-sized reception, for easy accessibility and ample parking for guests, and a decent meal in a nice environment.
