The Screw Factory is tucked away in a forgotten corner of Lakewood south of Madison Park. I expected a building similar to 78th Street Studios upon arrival. Screw Factory seems to be bigger and it is a lot more cavernous. The building opens up to the public only a few times a year and the last event was for last minute holiday gift shopping. I had a great time wandering through the labyrinth and checking out the various studios and temporary pop-up vendors. I ran into my high school ceramics teacher (Mrs. Fannin) there. If you hear about an event at the Screw Factory, you should check it out.

Came here for Yellowcake Shop's Hullaballo 2013 fashion show. SUCH a GREAT space! Huge, open warehouse upstairs that some stringed lighting and paper lanterns complemented perfectly. If I were getting married in Cleveland, this is the space I would go for.

Great holiday selections. Be prepared next year for crowds (go early) steps, and it was very warm inside.

She's also a well-known event planner known for her chic, tasteful weddings within this space. If I ever get married, Hilary will be the first person I call. During the next Third Friday (when 78th Street Studios is open to the general public), head to Hilary's gallery for a great social hour, a glass of wine, and to meet other supremely interesting people. Her dog, Jack, will be waiting to greet you!

My boyfriend saw their Woodford Reserve ashtray and bought one for his friend. He went on and on about how much he wanted one for himself. A few months later for his birthday I tried to get him the exact same Woodford ashtray at that same cigar bar but they didn't have any. They gave me the From the Blue Bag contact info and I spoke to the man who makes them. He wrote down my contact information and kept in touch with me over several months...he had told me he only makes ashtrays out of the bottles he gets from the recycling companies. He had not received a Woodford bottle in a long time and apologized and promised me he would get one. He was not able to get a Woodford bottle in time for my boyfriend's birthday that year but told me maybe he could for Christmas. Still, he did not receive one then either. He continued to keep in touch with me. A year later, I called again asking for the Woodford ashtray and he knew exactly who I was still and remembered all of the details from a year before. He said my info was still hanging on his wall and he was planning to call me the second he finally received a Woodford bottle, but he had not gotten one yet. I spoke to his wife also, who enthusiastically promised me they were going to get me one this year. She said "we have friends who drink; we will find one." Time passed and so did his birthday again. Finally, at Christmas time, the Blue Bag couple called me and told me they had finally decided to buy me a Woodford bottle and melt it into the ashtray I wanted. They only charged me $40 plus shipping. A bottle of Woodford typically costs $33...so they made little profit off my purchase but made my day and boyfriend's Christmas. He was so excited to finally get this gift! I really appreciate how sweet the owners of this company were to me and how friendly they were on the phone. We spoke many times over the course of almost 2 years and they are truly genuine people. I highly recommend this place for its service and beautiful, unique, handcrafted gifts.
