I recently decided it was well beyond time to get a couple of per-matted art prints framed and thought it would be a nice option over Michaels. Because the prints looked standard size, I had bought a couple of frames at the craft store, but upon assembly, it turned out they were about half an inch too small, so off to the framers we go! They were so sweet about working with already matted work in store bought frames, and quoted my $20 to trim and frame my pictures, with pickup over the weekend. The pictures were beautifully and thoughtfully framed and I will return for actual custom work in the future, if I ever finish any of my works in process....

This was not a Yelp event but a SPACES event. I attended on a Friday night with my friend and former roommate. SPACES is a venue located west of downtown Cleveland where works of art are displayed just as you would find in an art gallery but they also have events throughout the year. The show I attended was very different for me and my first time experiencing this type of art form. Some people may find interpretive dance strange but if you come with an open mind then you will enjoy it or at least leave experiencing something different. I will rate my experience 4.5/5. I misread the program pamphlet but I later found out that 2 different artists were performing at the same time so attendees could select who they wanted to watch. I didn't know this at first so I did miss one performance (by an artist named Robert) which is fine. The performances were actually repeated for people who showed up later to the evening (there was a 2 hour window to walk around and watch the performances). It is hard to explain this show but you can take a look at my posted videos for further details. My favourite piece was the woman who performed a movement dance detailing her feelings with the local media. She had newspapers lined up on the floor and at one point started laughing and crying to express her feelings. Many of the other dancers like her had amazing balance, core strength, and flexibility. They were all very talented in their own unique way. Here is the official dance show description - "Six local choreographers converge to create movement poetry in a vivid portrayal of modern art. View original works from diverse perspectives and watch art literally come to life." I recommend visiting SPACES on a weeknight or weekend. It is a fun environment and encourages you to open up your artistic side if you aren't normally inclined to do so. I will definitely have to come back here to explore more of the featured art on the walls. All of the dancers are clearly extremely talented. Some of dancers core strength was amazing. My personal favorite dancer was Robert. His performance was simply beautiful. The facility itself was actually a very great space and it's in a great location in Hingetown which I enjoyed. It's very versatile space and I can see them being able to do plenty of things here. Overall it was a great experience.

Upon reserving online, we selected which sketches we wanted. I believe there were a total of 6 sketches you could choose from. Plus, you could add on candle making but you would have to arrive 30 minutes earlier to get started on that. The host was able to give some tips and instructions along the way which helped with our individual paintings. Also, you could bring your own snacks to enjoy while painting and having fun with your family or friends. This was such a nice experience and I would highly recommend it!

We were very rushed the entire time and it did not feel like she wanted to be there. I asked for help and did not really receive the advice I needed. It was very disappointing all around and I came last minute as a distraction from some real life issues going on. I would have left the canvas behind but I know they will just reuse it for a sample canvas and I didn't feel like benefiting them that way. Just bummed out as this is a place I've always enjoyed in the past and now I'm out $40.

I "ordered" the block printing project, and my friend "ordered" the embroidery project. I think you can also do collage and stamping projects. The projects range from $20-35 and are varying lengths of time to complete. I was a total newbie to block printing - the total of my instruction had been a 6 minute video tutorial. The owner made me feel very comfortable and gave clear instructions, but was generally hands off for me to figure things out through experimentation. You can't bring food to your project, but I believe you are allowed to bring in n/a drinks while you art. It was such a fun, relaxing way to start the weekend. I'll definitely be back.

I have been to the Pop Shop several times over the last few months, and I have really enjoyed it…read moreevery time. The recent shows (Deck Wreckers, especially) have been pretty interesting, though I'll concede that the general aesthetic point of view seems to fit more with my own than it might with the public at large. I usually see pieces that I would seriously consider buying (sometimes I actually do) from both newcomers and better known artists, and I am glads that Rich and Jeff seems to be working hard to make cool art available to the masses at reasonable prices. They also do custom framing, and I was very impressed with a piece I had them do. Great attention to detail, as well as helpful mounting suggestions, and the prices are about the same or better than the usual places (Pat Catans, Joann, etc.). Their selection of framing materials is stellar, and they are willing and able to do more creative types of framing too.
