When you want luxury linens look no further than Pioneer Linens, a fourth generation owned company that has been in business since 1912, the year the Titanic sank!. The company was founded by Max Greenberg who came to the U.S. from Austria through Ellis Island in 1905 when he was just a teenager. He moved to Daytona where he worked in a hardware store but then he heard of the new community of Lake Worth. He headed south to a pioneer town without electricity or running water and he opened Pioneer Hardware in 1912. After providing the kind of supplies needed to build Lake Worth he moved the business to main street and opened Pioneer Hardware & Furniture which became the biggest retailer in Lake Worth by 1924. The category 5, Hurricane of 1928 killed 2,500 people and destroyed many businesses including Max Greenburg's. It caused a 100 million dollars in damage. The Great Depression followed and Florida's land boom years came to a close. The Greenburg family restarted their business in Palm Beach and began selling linens, towels, rugs, and blankets. Son George Greenburg began working for the company at the age of 8 before he went to college and fought in WWII. When he returned he took over the family business. Among his innovations was the first merchandising towel wall and the renaming of dust ruffles to the more positive term, bed skirts. In the 1960's when many businesses left the area for malls, Pioneer Linens remained on Clematis Street. George Greenberg formed the Downtown Development Authority, which is still thriving today supporting downtown businesses. He worked until he passed away in 2007 at the age of 92. For his dedication he was given the title of Honorary Mayor of Clematis Street. Through the years the Greenburg family has remained very involved in the community. Penny Murphy is the third generation to run the company and began serving as Vice President in 1995. She began the online store. Alan Murphy, Jr., great-grandson of Max Greenberg developed the white-glove service Yacht Linen division. Penny's two daughters, Marissa and Camille have now joined the company to manage e commerce and as a buyer. Today Pioneer Linens offers a large selection of high end linens. Of Palm Beach brides, the Palm Beach wrote "You get the diamond ring, then you get the Pioneer lesson," on how to handle proper linens. Pioneer is a leading supplier to yachts and a resource for interior designers. They offer monogramming of initials and logos. You can get very personalized service they are willing to go the extra mile. They have also recently developed their own private label line made in Italy. I really enjoyed my visit to this store that is filled with so many lovely things. The store 10,000 square feet of heirloom-quality bed, table, and bathroom linens, and accessories. After having stuck my feet through my sheets the other night as the result of having had some jokester short sheet my bed, I was in dire need of some new linens and stop by here. I found everything to be well displayed with an exceedingly large, polite and friendly staff. The not only had a good inventory of quality linens but of various other household items as well. Thanks to a knowledgeable staff member, something generally not common to places like Bed, Bath & Beyond, I was quickly able to obtain the exact item and color I needed at a fair market price. read more

All the high end linens you would ever need. Plenty of variety, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

While some of the stuff or linens and bed sheets or towels are expensive it is a very nice and good store with some great ideas for how to decorate or go a bedroom or bathroom if you like looking at towels, hampers, sheets, beds, night stands, and of course, how to have a comfortable area of the room. The table clothes and place mats are very much like reading Martha Stewart magazines or going to the decorating store that used to be like it in New York was "Gracious Home" that sold some of the same things. The bed comforters and covers they have are great with a good selection of different patterns. It's not Bed, Bath and Beyond but it's not supposed to be. They have great sales in the summer and winter plus take many major credit cards and parking is quite good considering that West Palm Beach in such a popular area can be tricky and hard to get. I like the robes and other things they had too. read more

My first visit to Pioneer was on Small Business Saturday 2017. I wandered in after visiting the Green Market in West Palm Beach. Several store associates greeted me promptly. There are so many lovely things to see here - sheets, towels, blankets, place mats, table cloths, wash clothes, kitchen accessories, and so on - that I could hardly take it all in. If you want your personal linens monogrammed, this is the place to go. One of the associates gave me a beautiful pink canvas tote bag as my hands and bags were full of the items I bought from the market earlier. I felt appreciated as a customer even though Pioneer is way out of my price range. Yesterday, my experience was a little different as I was ignored the entire time I was in the store. I'd actually considered buying a mug that I saw on my previous trip to Pioneer but when several employees rushed past me, I just left. Maybe a third trip will be the charm!? read more

Unbelievable rude. A man whom said he was the owner named Al first verbally interrogated my wife and I in front of our children about parking across the street from his store as we were shopping in his linen store. We recently bought a 6 bedroom home and were looking for bedroom sheets and comforters and linens for the bathrooms. He thought we were out of earshot when he called us "one of those people." I watched as he feverishly chased people out of the parking lot across the street. My wife and I decided to leave after being humiliated. read more

By that I mean the sales woman was complaining about not knowing the pricing and was it worth her while for her to check on the pricing before I actually ordered. I said I was looking to refresh my home. I have 5 bedrooms in my house in Palm Beach. I said I would need bath and beach towels as well. Again, she questioned whether I understood what something cost. I do. I left, I crossed the street, got into my Bentley and drove home. Coincidentally, I called another store, in Palm Beach, and ordered $26,000 worth of bedding and bath. As nicely I would like to be about this situation, the owners of Pioneer should really train their sales people to be nicer in dealing with customers. I am not looking for someone to grovel, just be nice, Don't question whether someone lives in the area, whether I could understand the pricing. I was looking at Matouk. I can buy Matouk on their site or about 900 other retailers. I am looking for European quality and not mass market masquerading as luxury. Good Grief, Pioneer, get a grip. What a fabulous place. There are wonderful linens here from all the best makers. Lots of gift items like embroidered cocktail napkins, a nice line of paper guest hand towels, cocktail napkins, baby blankets with optional monogramming, table linens, night lights, accessories for the bed and bath.
