A banker at this branch named Elsinore C. was extremely rude, snarky, and sarcastic for absolutely no reason. We were very taken aback by her demeanor. The whole experience was very unprofessional. I will now be avoiding this branch if I can help it. read more

I chose pioneer bank because its local and had a free checking account. I just received a letter in the mail that they "upgraded" my account and now i have to pay a monthly fee... i never asked or consented to this they just did it. If i never saw that letter i would be being charged without my knowledge. I am going to bring this up to legal counsel to see how this is legal because it shouldn't be and i suggest anyone with a checking account does the same. read more

The online banking is in the stone age. There is a limit on how much you can deposit in the mobile app. They only have 90 available to get transaction information from the online site. Thats unacceptable. As you can see by the other reviews, stay away before they screw you. read more

I have never been more frustrated with a bank and its employees. Recently my husband and I applied for a mortgage for our first house at the downtown Troy location and it went terribly. I was constantly correcting the employee's numbers in the contracts and loan application forms. I was constantly correcting math. I don't work in the banking industry, but it's a good thing I know how to use a calculator. The day we applied for the mortgage I showed up with everything I was told to bring along with some extra bits I had a feeling they would need. Of course, I was told that I had forgotten things, which I hadn't. I have a list of back and forth emails to prove it. We offered several additional pieces of paperwork that we had seen were necessary (we applied for a SONYMA mortgage and read up on them) but the employee had said she didn't need them. Then I get an email a few days later about more paperwork that was required and how we didn't sign a contract correctly. It was unnerving that there was the very real possibility that I knew more from a few Google searches about a SONYMA mortgage than the employee. On the service and professionalism end, there was definitely room for improvement. Getting in contact with the person handling our application was constantly frustrating. Via phone it was almost impossible, nearly all of my calls were sent to voicemail. And email...well perhaps email etiquette and editing just aren't encouraged at Pioneer. Additionally, their office hours are terrible for anyone who works a regular job. Needless to say we went to another bank for our mortgage. Pioneer came very highly recommended from friends and family, but they simply did not perform for us. Perhaps we were dealing with a bad egg, but I would not recommend this branch of Pioneer to anyone looking for a mortgage. read more

No stars for Pioneer. I had an appointment with Renee Pugliese in the mortgage department and she did not show up. When I got her on the phone all she had to say was "I forgot". Can you come back tomorrow? I took time off from work to meet at her convenience. She did not say sorry or do anything to make good on her mistake. I have been a Pioneer customer for 30 years and was shocked at how badly I was treated. Needless to say I applied for a mortgage with another bank. read more

The people don't know what they are doing and don't have full knowledge of what they are trying to push on you. I was told several things when going for a mortgage (refi) through them. THEN once the papers were signed I find out those things were not true. For example I was told you can "absolutely pay extra on the principal online". Well NO YOU CAN'T. You have to physically go to the bank to do this. Well I hate to tell them, but some people work for a living and can't do that during the week and now I would have to make a special trip on a Saturday to do this?? If you ask one person and they say yes and the person in the next office says no etc. REALLY - in the same office they can't get their facts straight? They also keep messing with their website and can't leave things alone. Change this / change that / modify this and when you don't find out about the problem until Friday after hours then you can't check your balance or make payments/transfers until the following week during business hours. This bank is nothing but a complete hassle!!! I hate this bank with a passion and will be leaving it as soon as I can. Please save yourself a headache and stay away!!!! read more

If you are willing to be treated rudely by Bank Managers and tellers then this is the bank for you, If you would rather be treated like a human being and receive good customer service, then find another bank. Small hometown banks are folding all over so the way this bank treats it's customers is actually quite astounding, maybe they want to get bought out by a Big Box Bank...... read more

We love Pioneer, as a bank and as a supporter of local community endeavors. No ATM in downtown Troy is what loses it at least part of that star. It's really 4.7! I think there could be a creative way to get customers their ATM in the area, while not destroying the building so it may be the will is not there, which makes me sad. However - if you want to know who really holds your mortgage and where your money goes, this is where you need to get your mortgage. So for personal banking, mortgages and business banking - we are really happy to be with Pioneer.(Oh! and that new Watervliet branch? Why does the ATM only hand out $50s? You know some small stores will not handle them, right?) read more

I did not run into any snags that a previous reviewer identified, and I plan to stay with Pioneer a long time. It seems they're increasing the number and location of branches too. Pioneer Bank is the BEST Bank I and my family have ever had the pleasure of Banking with. We have been here for over 30 years due to their outstanding customer service, great banking products, 16 branch locations in up-state New York open from 8am-8pm during the week and 8am-4pm on Saturdays! Their Banking services make it simple and hassle-free to go to the Bank. I truly would reccomend them to anyone. They never fail to assist you with whatever it is you, your family, or your business need. They always go the extra step to help me, especially when I have questions about my accounts there. I've done business on and off with Pioneer Bank in Wynantskill, NY. Just recently when First Niagara Bank, who I've been a customer with for several years, sold out to Key Bank, who I hate, I closed my account and went to Pioneer. So far, I found the tellers and other personnel to be very friendly and helpful. I would just like to make one suggestion for their automated help line for the checking accounts: instead of pressing a number for the balance of your checking account, another number for your paid checks, one for your ATM withdrawals and another for your debits to find out what cleared, etc., you should be able to press just ONE number to get ALL transactions (above) and make it much easier on the person calling for all of that information. That was the ONE thing I really liked with First Niagara Bank - all transactions inclusive in one pressed number. Hope it can be changed in the near future. read more
