Down home, locally owned hamburger (and more) cafe. The building is historic from 1887, originally built to house railroad workers. The dining room isn't fancy - but fabulous with small town charm. The joint was hopping on Thursday night with hamburgers at half price! Local Clubs were having dinner meetings, gee, it was busy. We went with a group of friends and arranged ahead for several tables. The staff is super friendly and attentive. Food took a while to prep because they were so busy. I had a salad and a quarter pound bacon cheese burger. The burger was hearty made to order on a toasted roll. The bacon was perfectly crisp and cooked through. The salad was fresh. My husband had the half pound bacon cheese burger cheese burger with fries. He loved his burger. The menu also offers a variety of sandwiches. They serve beer (Bud, Coors, etc) and other non-alcoholic bevs. Pies looked good, but I did not try. They do not take credit cards so BRING CASH so you don't end up washing dishes. Pioneers Inn - Southern Near Me - Gilead, Nebraska

My dad and I placed a phone order here. We drove a little bit to get here to this cozy little place, which had a country like feel. We got 5 hamburgers since is was the Thursday burger special night. We only paid $11.87 which included all 5 burgers with lettuce, tomato, and pickles. My dad got ones with the white onions. Burgers were pretty tasty and the service was fast as they were ready within a couple minutes after we got there and the counter lady was really nice! An awesome hole-in-the-wall place to get some great, greasy grub. Thursday night is Hamburger night, where Hamburgers are less than $2. If you're a fan of red beer (beer and tomato juice) it's a favorite here. read more

I would not recommend eating here, make the extra drive and eat in Fairbury. The service was uncomfortable and the food was bad. A lot of the food came burnt. read more
