B&B main judgement bar for me? Tea and coffee facilities. Great, with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, all clean, bathroom is lovely and modern, excellent shower, fluffy, nice smelling bath robes (great after you've been a tit and just thrown yourself in the fairy pools in the autumn rain). Big, gentlemen style, green leather sofas to cosy up on in the lounge area with a night cap, super comfy beds, all well equipped and well kept. On top of the breakfast view, the food is great. I had the Blairdhu Cairn, black pudding and poached egg balanced on top of tatty scone. Fruit, yoghurts, cake, cereals and your standard fare to help yourself to too, with nice jams and marmalades as well. There are tellies in the room and in the room for breakfast with the news on, free wifi, and ample parking. I intend to go to skye again soon, because I love it, and I want to see the dinosaur footprints they discovered, practically immediately after we got back, and I would happily stay here again when I do.

The property has 6 rooms and is situated on a large elevated spacious lot with plenty of parking and free Wi-Fi. Guests enjoy a gorgeous view from the guest lounge/breakfast room and from some guest rooms. The double room was nicely decorated, it had a large comfortable bed with reading lights on either side and a duvet with high-quality linens. Amenities included robes (aka dressing gowns), hair dryer, in-room tea and flat screen TV. The modern bathroom featured a stall shower (with plenty of hot water) fluffy towels, shampoo/bath gel and a vanity with space for your toiletries. Our room did not have a view but was quiet and private, the large window faced the side garden. The breakfast options include a full Scottish breakfast as well as many other healthy choices to suit all tastes, service was friendly and efficient. Our host Fiona was helpful and welcoming. She accepts cash or credit card (with a small additional fee of ~3%).

So we booked our stay at No. 6 Drynoch Cottage on www.islands-and-highlands.co.uk and waited in anticipation! The cost of our stay was pretty reasonable, coming in at just about £500 for four of us for a week. You pay a deposit and then pay the rest by a certain date. We payed online but you can also do so over the phone. - The islands and highlands staff were really friendly and helpful when we phoned to make the initial booking so it's worth giving them a call if you have any concerns or problems as the website is a little simplistic and out-dated. The cottage itself is homely and cosey, with a living room with a fire (now, we're talking!) and other little quirks, like the whisky bottle lamp and a set of decorative birds mid-flight. These smaller things all made the cottage feel like home for the week and it was lovely to sit before the fire after a hard day's work. It's spacious and cosey, with a living room, kitchen, two single rooms and one double. There's a large television and dvd player. (There was a small selection of dvds, so it's worth bringing some of your own.) There's cows in the surrounding fields and even a friendly neighbour kitten and you're surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains! So in terms of location, you've got it good! Unfortunately, there's no wi-fi but, (don't worry, Yelpers!) we all seemed to have good signal on our phones so it wasn't a problem. And when you're somewhere like Skye, internet isn't really a priority because there's so much to do. (We often went through to Portee which is a twenty minute drive away and also took a visit to the Fairy Glen which is beautiful!) When we arrived at the flat there were a few rotten food items in the fridge but it might be the case that the staff who'd cleaned the fridge hadn't read the use-by dates and thought to leave them for the next guests. It was only a pizza and what looked like a pepper. - No biggie! They also leave the key somewhere very obvious for you when you arrive which was a little strange initially but it's so remote that there's no real reason for concern. (Seriously, there are more cows than people!) We took a lot of unnecessary extra baggage like toilet paper, etc but the cottage has everything you'll need for your stay so don't make the same mistake we did! The kitchen has lots of cooking utensils so you're sorted if you plan on cooking in most nights like we did. All in all, No. 6 Drynoch felt completely like home for the week and we really didn't want to leave! It's definitely somewhere we'd stay again and I'd thoroughly recommend it as accommodation in Skye. I miss looking out the window to see cows and, of course, those amazing mountains!

The Wigwam is well thought out and very comfortable. It has everything you need for a stay (we stayed 5 nights) over Christmas, it was lovely and warm once inside, very very clean and great facilities (Mini Kitchen, Fridge, Kettle, TV, Warm Shower, Wifi). It is so great to make a coffee and sit out the front of the Wigwam and look out over the loch - would love to come back in the summer and use the picnic area and fire pits! Great communication from the very friendly owners and nothing was too much trouble. Dornie is a great place to visit on its own with beautiful views and a lovely little pub but it is also a great place to position yourself for visiting the surrounding areas and Skye for day trips. We will 100% be back!

The location was on loch long (a lake) in a good position to see Eilean Donan castle, Kyle of lochlash, and tour the isle of Skye. The town is small but we had dinner out both nights and we were pleased with the food. I will definitely stay at another wigwam in the future. I wish they had wifi.
