Coming to New Zealand, I didn't anticipate on having a burger at all, but I was so hungry and didn't know my way around Newmarket, I think coming here was actually fate. I cannot tell you how fantastic the Lamb Burger was--the meat was so tender, the burger literally melted in my mouth. I'm not much of a beetroot eater (and I'm told this is a common topping in Australian and New Zealand burgers), but it was different in a good way. The bun was also really good, so no complains about the burger at all. We also got the Potato Skins with Truffle Aioli--amaaazing! They were hot and fresh when it came to our table and the chunky portions were more than generous. It's such a shame I'm almost 9,000 miles away because I'm craving a meal from this place at this very moment. The staff were a fun bunch, especially our waiter, Liam, who was full of laughs. Great place away to eat from the shopping madness on Broadway--Osborne Lane is a super cute and nice place to hang out.

If you want to make a picnic of it One Tree Hill Domain is a short walk and has plenty of tables and benches. Most importantly The Chip Shop has great chips, good fish and excellent mushy peas. This is as close as I have come in my life to living like the characters in the Sopranos, and I have Grey Lynn Seafood at least partially to thank for this. While the décor has been left to slide a bit over the years and the walls are getting darker by the hour, the shop that many call "Fat Freddy's Fish" still has the best selection of fresh fish in the area. They will also crumb it for their fish 'n' chips customers, which is an anomaly in Grey Lynn. Their chips are light and fluffy; definitely not bogged down by being left to sit in oil too long. While their opening hours don't extend far into prime fish 'n' chip buyers' hours, this place is still worth a look.
