I learned after the hearing that I wasn't even needed at the hearing, and I had taken time to travel from another state just for my attorney to show up right when the hearing was over. There were many other requests, which my wife and I ended up doing on our own because we could not get a hold of them and they were very slow to move and respond. If I had waited for them, I would've been homeless for at least a week. Because I didn't wait for them and my wife and I did the work ourselves, the case was wrapped up very quickly. They had many excuses and are now trying to bill me $7,500 for their services - their services being missing a hearing, not filing paperwork, and not communicating with the prosecutor in a timely manner. They then blamed the prosecutor, however, the prosecutor was very responsive to me and my wife. Other than that, Devan is very nice. I attempted to negotiate with the owner, William Franchi, to give them a partial payment for the time Devan spent, even though I received zero legal value (The value I received was simply the way Devan handled the first call - she gave me hope and took me out of a dark space, and that is value I'm willing to pay for). Instead, William Franchi became argumentative and upset, and instead of offering a new price or refund, has decided he will take me to small claims court. I would give one star, except Devan's personality was great, so I'm giving two stars. Regardless of how nice Devan is, I'm not paying a lawyer to be nice, I'm paying a lawyer to be effective, or even at least, just on time and communicate effectively while putting forward an honest effort. If they had been on time and communicated effectively and put forth an honest effort, I would've have paid them the full price, regardless of the outcome, since outcomes can not be assured in court cases. If you look at their other reviews, it sounds like this is a recurring theme.
