Anyway, this park was actually rather delightful, especially with all the ponds that are located here. The main area is rather flat and grassy, but it is actually surrounded by ponds on three sides, though the side facing the road isn't one of them. It actually makes this place a rather lovely place to walk around. Yeah, I quite liked it.

In fact I have…read moredriven down Osmond Terrace at Norwood on many an occasion and noticed some lovely black wrought iron gates with lots of greenery behind them. This time however I discovered the park via its other entrance, around the corner on Magill Road. I truly believe this park has something for everyone. It's a stunner. This park has obviously been around for a while because there's a plaque inside saying it was opened by Don Dunstan back in 1978 but there are other notices saying it has just undergone a significant upgrade. All I can say to the Norwood Council is ... well done you guys! Great job! Not only is the park beautifully landscaped with accompanying paved areas, there is masses of seating, a playground, barbecues, toilets, a dog drinking fountain, a people drinking fountain and some great art has been created on bare walls to bring them to life as well. The quirkiest and cutest thing in the park would have to be the stump of an old tree that looks like a loo! At first I thought, what a cool seat under that tree but on closer inspection there's a hole in the centre that makes it look more like a toilet. Glad to see someone has a sense of humour when it comes to public spaces. Great park and there are good coffee shops just across Magill Road if you want to get a coffee and enjoy it outdoors. BTW I'm with Tegan - its not a little park!

It…read moreis positioned behind the businesses on the really high profile corner of Magill Rd and Osmond Tce. It's not that small as alleged by my fellow yelpers, rather it has three joined but sort of seperated parts. There are two sets of play equipment, brand new toilet block, a bike parking area, a filtered drinking water 'station', bags for doggy doo, lots of green grass, lots of seating, a mural and a big fancy sign. I love it, so please don't come here unless you are very goodlooking, or intelligent, or interesting, or generally have something to offer, even if it's just chocolate. I used to walk through here regularly to go to swimming classes, and would also come down here for games with scouts. It has been cleaned up up a lot since I was young, and even has a fitness track. Oh, and the public pool is still here.

This park is tucked out of the way, away from Greenhill Road, and is a bit of a secret find for…read moremany - even locals. I was a regular here with my kids for several years when we were living at Frewville, giving my wife a chance to study and giving the girls a run around in the fresh air, and we got a huge surprise when we returned not so long ago, just before Christmas, and found the fantastic renovations that had been done. McLeary Park always was a nice, safe, shady playground, with a quite elaborate climbing frame, almost a fort on stilts with a slide and netting to climb, and the spirit of that structure has been maintained with the more modern equipment in place now. There is still plentiful shade from the trees however the additional shade cloth is brilliant - I notice Unley and Burnside councils have made significant upgrades to a number of parks with shade and newer equipment. So, yet again, my kids had a ball here - three years older now, but just as enraptured. The only downside here is that there's no public convenience, so we had to pack up and head off to the nearby KFC for toilets. Other than that, beautiful place for a family picnic.

Lovell Reserve is an excellent little park just off Gorge Road in Athelstone. It features popular…read moretennis courts (including the obligatory basketball hoops on the sides), a spacious, shaded childrens playground, barbecues, a drinking fountain and a small toilet block. There's lots of room to spread out, and you can easily drive in to the park to unload vehicles to save trips back and forth. My kids absolutely adore the playground here - it's not the biggest or the best around Adelaide, but it is nice and new, in very good condition, there's a good variety of equipment, it's so well shaded they can play there pretty much any time of day, it's a few minutes stroll from home, and it's never crowded but there's often company there to play with. All round, Lovell Reserve is a bit of a winner.

Apparently the…read moreRiver Torrens is a great place for beginner fisherfolk because it is just so easy to catch fish here. Mind you, there is a problem - you aren't allowed to throw the fish back into the river, and you can't eat them, so this is basically an exercise in catching a fish, and a decent sized one at that, and posting your achievement on Facebook. Mind you, it is a thrill when you do catch a fish, especially when you have never managed to achieve such a feat before. As for the park, it is actually a rather pleasant spot, with some nice gardens, and a sculpture as well. A lovely place to wander around.

It was very…read moreHollywood, and though I've usually averse to these sort of rom-com experiences, the Angas Gardens completely swallowed me up and I FELT it. The four stars is in that moment. Particularly since I was facing the wondrous rose garden when my vision was given back to me (which, as anyone who's visited the Gardens before knows, is a long walk to do whilst visually handicapped). Now, my birthday's in the winter, so I've experienced this place at its very worst. I've heard, however, that in the spring this place is much, much better. Mario tip: If you're coming here for a stroll or a lie down, you'll be fine. If you come for a picnic, don't bring any liquids. Otherwise, be prepared to go bush. And run if you're caught. There are no toilets.

This one was a real pain in the behind to get to with streets that you can only travel along in…read morecertain directions and the train line right behind it as well. However once I got here I was quite surprised. It really was very different. For starters it's really quite large an area once you get there. Much bigger than it appears on a map. Not really okay for footy or the likes though as it is very undulating land but it makes it nicer I think. With the little hills built up and pathways throughout. Plenty of shelters, tables, seating, shade, water, even TOILETS!!!! And a tennis court over the other side near the newer looking playground. The older playground looks like a huge fort with plenty of woodwork in it as well. It's great having so many different activities in different are's of this park. You could end up here for a couple of hours easy just checking them all out and going from one to the next. And with toilets onsite why not bring a picnic, or even just some snacks, and spend a few hours here. If you drive best parking area is at end of Pinda Street so try head up there. Otherwise it is like a maze the streets around this one.

Located behind the old Harts Mill, This playgrounds is full of mill related items/words. In essence - it's pretty damned cool. There is a sand pit area that resembles a flour packing station where you can move the sand around the play area using pulleys etc. A nice big flying fox, big climbing frame and running blocks are good additions. The number one sought after piece of equipment was the hamster wheel which the kids loved! Nice big slide you don't see these days and a baby swing that it's almost impossible to turn upside down so I felt very safe pushing the little one around. We had a ball and will be back again soon! Definitely recommend you take your kids here.

Bring meat and have a bbq or enjoy the cute The Mill Collective hanging over the water with the perfect view of the dolphins and pancakes all day. The setting can't be beat - water on one side, a heritage building on the other. Adelaide really is amazing that way. I also recommend going for a walk around "the loop" which I measured to be 3km and the playground is right on the path. Enjoy!
