The first thing I'll state is I'd never take my dog to anyone else but Maria! Years ago I took one of my rescued Old English Sheepdogs to her. He was an incredibly cranky guy, who just didn't like being brushed...no way, not at all. The amount of patience and perseverance she showed with Andy was unbelievable. She could easily have given apologies and said nope, not going to continue with this guy. She truly is a sort of dog whisperer, I think. He gradually mellowed out a bit. Even with his crankiness, she did such fantastic grooming on him! Over the years I've had a series of rescued Old English Sheepdogs, and she has groomed the last two I've had, and they aren't easy dogs to groom. They looked gorgeous when she was finished! I currently have a rescued Polish Lowland Sheepdog, and of course we go to Maria. Her work is just perfection. Her level of knowledge about dogs is impressive. Both Maria and her husband George obviously truly care about dogs, and watching them interact with their doggie clients is proof of that. This is a true story: Bentley knows when we're going for grooming, and gets very excited, and I'd swear tries to put the halter on all by himself. He gets far more excited than going for walks, and just about pulls me off my feet running to the car to get in. All in all, I just can't say enough good things about Maria and George. It's a long drive across town for me, but I'd happily drive 100 miles one way! read more

We live in Florence and couldn't find a groomer in town who would groom our doodle Moose. We just moved to the area and it had been 3 months since his last groom. Looked on Yelp and found Maria at The Doodle Room. We called and she was able to give us an appt. in a couple of days. Moose is a big boy with long hair and he did have mats. His grooms can average 3 to 5 hours. Maria works from her home and has a great set up there. We were very nervous at first, because this is our boy and he was nervous to. We liked Maria immediately and liked her interaction with Moose. We left him there feeling he was in good hands. I loved the fact that Maria would texted us pics and let us know how he was doing. When we picked him up he looked and felt great. His hair had to be shaved down because of the mats but she did a great job keeping it as long as possible. We have to drive over an hour to get to her place but it is worth the drive knowing our Moose is in good, caring hands. I highly recommend this place. I'm so happy to have found a groomer we can trust our boy with. read more

We love the Doodle Room! Maria is so amazing and kind. Our pup is TERRIFIED of going to the groomers. We have tried so many places and never felt comfortable leaving her. So, I spoke w/ Maria just now on the phone with a bizarre question "Do you do professional teeth cleaning for cats?" While of course the logical answer is no, she went above and beyond to tell me all of the health precautions to look out for when scheduling a teeth cleaning, even recommended some awesome vets to call up that work with incomes and come highly recommended by her, an obviously super intelligent animal owner. While I may not have a pup in need of grooming, I can tell this woman is knowledgeable and super awesome with her clients. 5 stars for not only being a great business owner, but a great person as well :) read more

Maria was a wonderful groomer who took her time and effort to really take care of my Terrier mix. I wanted to find a groomer in town who really cared about what they were doing. My Great Preynees is a very timid girl and had never been to the groomer before, but was in desperate need of a good brushing. I booked an appointment with Maria after reading the reviews here and hoped for the best. She told me it could take 4-5 hours to properly groom a Pyr. My dog did great! Maria sent me text messages and pictures throughout the grooming as she knew I was concerned with this being a shy dog's first time being groomed. She texted me as soon as my pup was done and sent me a picture of her sleeping in her kennel. I will also add that I've worked in the animal welfare field for nearly twenty years and am very picky about cleanliness. Maria's salon was clean, bright, nice and cool for the dogs without being cold, and didn't have a "doggy" smell to it at all. My dog looked PHENOMENAL and Maria spoiled her with extra treats. I am so impressed not only with Maria's work, but with her understanding of dogs' behavior. She was great with my girl and we will definitely be going back. I can't say enough nice things! read more

Maria got my two little dogs in pretty last minute and charged a very fair price for nail grinding. She even used some teeth cleaner on them and didn't charge me extra for it. She was gentle with my dogs and very gracious with us. I am SO happy to have finally found a groomer we like! read more

Maria did a great job with our little beagle. Doggie seems very happy. Coat is soft, ears and nails look fantastic. My aunt takes her show dogs to her as well (where we got the recommendation). I have a rescue dog who is a lhasa mix, which is a stubborn breed that usually wants its own way. He is blind in one eye and losing sight in the other, so he has become very clingy and dependent on me. Maria has figured out how to handle him by having me stand nearby so that he can watch me while she cuts him. He is difficult, but she remains calm handles him quickly and gently to reduce his stress. I am so grateful to her that she continues to groom him despite his grumpy behavior. read more

After a few stressful experiences at other groomers, I took my elderly lab here and this is the first time my lab showed little or no anxiety. Maria was absolutely wonderful in every way! She was gentle and accommodating when doing our dog's nails and, after she and her husband gently lifted my 65 lb dog into the tub, she gave her a thorough, excellent bath using high quality soap and conditioner. My lab seemed happy as she smiled at me during the bath - I watched from a distance. My dog looks better than she has in months and months! Her coat is fluffy, soft and very clean. Maria groomed my 16 year old special needs miniature schnauzer with care and patience. He cannot stand very well and shakes his head often and is really just a groomer's nightmare - yet she did a great job! She let me hold him while she worked on him which was helpful for all three of us. I highly recommend her for any dog, but most certainly for older dogs with issues. You can be sure that she will do the best she can making sure your dog is not overly stressed. I was very impressed and will use no other groomer. read more
