He reassured us and kept me (panicked!) calm, as he were concerned we might be stuck out in the heat (I told him we were two ladies traveling alone, which he provided reassurance that he would get to us soon!),. When he got to us, he was able to do a quick fix, as there was nothing actually wrong with my car, and reassured us that even if it happened again, to keep going as it was not a danger. My car died while I was driving it and had it towed here…read more After 4 hours of diagnostics and $600 later, Darrell told me he found metal in my oil and it'd need a new engine (basically it was done for as it wouldn't have been worth an engine replacement). Knowing to never trust a mechanic I do not know, I got a second opinion. Darrell hadn't even drained the oil that he said he found metal in and no metal was found in it when it was drained. I've truly never met a shoddier mechanic. Sounds like he can do some minor air conditioner repairs from the reviews I've seen, but figured I'd give a real review of his diagnostics. By the way, all my vehicle needed was some new spark plugs and ignition coils, under $200 repair. It's running smoothly and definitely has years before it'll need trashed. Don't go to this guy unless you want to waste money and potentially be out a whole car. If you want a good recommendation, go to Auto Care Experts in Yakima.

Did my Yelp search for the best mechanic & found D&M. Sam said bring the car in by 7-7.30 the next morning which was before they opened. I provided him with the work order from Rairdon & in less that a few hours he had found the issue, confirmed everything else that should have been done was, checked fluids & called me to say the car was ready. It wouldn't start so he said he could save me money and take to his shop diagnose the problem and fix it. He called the the next day it was the fuel pump. He said he could fix it. I thought that was awesome. Well the next call from Al was he fixed that problem but I had another issues, and because of his good conscience he could let me drive my truck without fixing the brakes. Ok I said. Next call was the brakes are fixed but now there is another issue. Al said he would call me back with the exact issue and amount. I hear from Al a few days later and he asked if I was sitting down because my truck was fixed and I owed him $1833. He knew it did have anything close to that. Fifteen minutes later Al called back and said ok $1500. It took me a few weeks to pay the bill. When I finally paid $1584 we headed to pickup my truck. We got out of our car at Al's place and my truck was running and the engine was knocking. I said my truck never sounded like that. Al said it was just cold. We left and made it 5 miles maybe lost all pressure in the engine. We called Al. He came and said my motor was shot. Kept asking for cash to tow it. We had a tow company closer to home to the truck and inspect it. Well come to find out what work he did was horrible work and not complete. Also I paid for work that wasn't performed. He shouldn't have been drive my truck in the first place. He should have called when the fuel pump was fixed. Not rack up a bill. I paid for work not performed and have to replace my motor and fix what he didn't. I have documents from a certified mechanic with pictures!!!!!

We decided they should rent a car and continue on after leaving our truck in a store parking lot. The next morning I call around and ended up talking to Sam at D & M Motors, explaining the situation - that I was in Western WA - and the truck was there. He immediately understood and assured me he would take care of it; he sent his tow truck to get my pickup from the store parking lot. Sam kept in touch with me while he looked the truck over completely and test drove it twice and deemed it OK to drive back to Western WA - back to the dealership that had just worked on the transmission. He arranged to leave the truck in a safe place so my daughter and son-in-law could get it on the way back from MT. His bill was minimal for everything he had done.
