We decided they should rent a car and continue on after leaving our truck in a store parking lot. The next morning I call around and ended up talking to Sam at D & M Motors, explaining the situation - that I was in Western WA - and the truck was there. He immediately understood and assured me he would take care of it; he sent his tow truck to get my pickup from the store parking lot. Sam kept in touch with me while he looked the truck over completely and test drove it twice and deemed it OK to drive back to Western WA - back to the dealership that had just worked on the transmission. He arranged to leave the truck in a safe place so my daughter and son-in-law could get it on the way back from MT. His bill was minimal for everything he had done. There was no driveway, no yellow curb, no official City of Cle Elum parking sign, and no other indication that curb parking was restricted. The only "No Parking/Tow Away" sign was attached to the fence of a private residence behind the public sidewalk. Under Washington law, a private impound applies to vehicles on private property, while a public impound is authorized by law enforcement or another public official with jurisdiction over the public property. See RCW 46.55.010 and RCW 46.55.080. I have not found any Cle Elum ordinance authorizing private residents or tow operators to reserve or tow vehicles from otherwise unrestricted public street parking. Rather than explaining any legal authority, the driver simply told me to move my car after backing up with lights on posturing. Bummer for him, I had a bad day and am a lawyer, but also too tired to confront a wanna be cowboy. I moved my vehicle because it wasn't worth risking an improper tow, but the experience was unnecessarily hostile and intimidating.

After calling multiple tow companies and auto places - we were told nobody could help us. The last tow truck company told me to try Sattlers and when I called the voice of a woman not only talked me through what to do but she also told us to get to their shop slowly without the brakes and they would get us taken care of even though the shop had already closed. With kids and dogs in tow we got to the shop and she came and gave me a hug and comforted my shot nerves! Her and her husband stayed well after closing time to help us resolve the issue and did not charge us an arm and a leg for the last minute work! Very impressed with them and their hospitality- they helped us when nobody else would!

I reported the problem immediately and repeatedly, only to be told that it was my fault, then ghosted by the service department, by Stellantis, by Jeep Wave... They refused to return my calls and I couldn't schedule service. The issue has affected the main battery, Uconnect system and the backup camera, too. The "free" patches and USB fixes come with diagnostic, labor, and service fees. No more OTA updates! Now my extended warranty has expired. They will not return my calls, have blocked my ability to email and will not help me. The really sad part is that they used my original review from here in their print advertising--it was hanging in the shop last time I was there! Also the fixes would be super cheap for them and only fair for them make things right. Sad.
