The wave pool is also a lot of fun and the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day. The staff is always friendly and genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which makes the experience even better. If you plan on visiting more than once during the summer, I highly recommend getting a season pass. It's a great value since it can be used at both Sandcastle and Kennywood. Overall, Sandcastle is a fantastic place to spend a summer day with family and friends, and I highly recommend it!

It's the perfect local getaway--clean, safe, and full of fun for all ages. Go on a weekday if you can. The crowds are light, the slide waits are minimal, and you can truly relax and enjoy the atmosphere. If you're planning a visit on a hot, sunny weekend, just know you'll be waiting in line for a bit longer--those days get packed (understandably!). What we love: * Tons of staff everywhere--you always feel safe and well looked after. * Clean restrooms (seriously, not something every water park pulls off). * Reasonably priced food, with lots of options to keep everyone happy. * Great security presence, which puts parents like us at ease. * A baby pool for little ones, a fun wave pool, and of course... * The lazy river, where you'll most likely find me floating and recharging! Sandcastle is one of Pittsburgh's underrated gems. Whether you're a thrill-seeker or just want to unwind in the sun, this place delivers. We'll be back next week (and the next, and the next...).

As a Yelp Elite All Star I noticed that the most current YELP review for this pool was a one star review based solely on what this person thought the price should be for entry for her & her kids & her comparison to North Park Pool. First off Cranberry Township Waterpark, offers more than just a pool. It has a very large kids area with large kiddie pool, water dump bucket, splash pad & preschool water sliding board. It has a dedicated lap swim lane at all times. It has a waterside, low diving board, water tunnel sliding board, water climbing wall, sand volleyball court, grassy play areas, concession stand with large variety of foods, drinks & desserts & bathrooms with showers & changing rooms. There are giant umbrellas for shade, and many lounge & some Adirondack chairs. You can get water wings, or life vests for your kids there if needed. This is not a county pool like North Park Pool. NPP is run by the county. Cranberry is run by the township (not Butler County) & managed & staffed by high school kids. YES, the prices ARE higher than Allegheny County & City pools: 2025 Daily Admission Rates Residents: $11 Non-Resident: $16 Children: 2 - 12 years old Resident:$10 Non-Resident: $14 Children under 2: FREE 55+ Senior Resident: $10 Non-Resident: $14 Twilight Rates (after 6 p.m.) Resident: $8 Non-Resident: $10 Tuesday Night Swims: 9-11 p.m. Members: FREE Non-Members: $8 But that gives ZERO reason to diss this beautiful waterpark & all it has to offer. I highly recommend our pool & have taken out of town guests here with young kids several times in the past 20 years & they all loved it.

There are also soccer and baseball fields as well as shelters for picnics. I wasn't at North Boundary Park for any of that. I was only there on a cold fall morning to take advantage of the "hiking trail" loop around the fields. I put quotation marks around the words hiking and trail because I don't know how much of a hike I consider it due to the entire trail being paved. It's just over a mile in length with some elevation. Regardless, I found it to be an easy to find suburban community park where I felt safe to wander around when there were maybe only two other people wandering the trail. I also found it clean and well maintained. Park hours are posted as 7am - 11pm. There are 2018 plans for a disc golf course and a nature trail that I'm hoping will lead into the actual wooded area (and maybe into some more challenging terrain). I'll check out the park again once the trail is complete.

You can traverse it in either direction, just remember to stay to the right (unless your passing). Inside the loop is a ball field, a few soccer fields, a playground, an outdoor body weight gym, and a large swimming facility with various types of entertainment. There are also a couple shelters with picnic tables underneath, that I assume you can rent for maybe a private party. There are a few restroom facilities with a water fountain as well. Half of the park is wooded and there is a approved plan in place to create an 18 hole disc golf course. The course is supposed to be top tier, compared on a national level. With a planned average of 588 feet per hole, I'm sure it will attract lot skilled talent and probably a competition or two in the first year. If you're new to disc golf, there is a handicapped accessible recreational course planned with six holes, averaging about 175 ft per hole, respectfully. One of the only thing I don't really like about the park is a portion of the paved trail butts up to the road. There is no space or physical barrier between you and cars passing by.

If you're planning to visit more than once during the season, I highly recommend getting the Platinum Season Pass. Not only is it a great value for Kennywood, but it also includes admission to Sandcastle Waterpark, making it an even better deal for families and anyone who loves amusement and water parks. No trip to Kennywood is complete without stopping at Potato Patch for their famous fries--they're absolutely delicious! I also like grabbing the pulled pork tacos from Rogue BBQ, and of course, I always save room for dessert. My favorite treat is a vanilla ice cream cone from the Golden Nugget, dipped in chocolate and topped with peanuts and a cherry. So good! What I love most about Kennywood is its classic charm. I've visited newer amusement parks, but in my opinion, none of them have rides quite as memorable or enjoyable as the ones at Kennywood. The employees are always friendly, welcoming, and seem to genuinely enjoy working there, which makes the experience even better. I highly recommend Kennywood to anyone visiting the Pittsburgh area or looking for a fun day with family and friends. It's a true Pittsburgh treasure and a place I look forward to visiting again and again!
