I purchased frames & lenses and then waited ten days (as expected - thus began the range within which I was told they would arrive). On the first day on which I was told I could expect the frames to be in-store with their lenses, I got a call asking if I would be satisfied with another color, perhaps green, although I had ordered gold frames. I asked for a full refund & an explanation of what occurred, instead. They told me that the frames were going out of production and that an Under Armour rep repossessed the frames that they had in-store. What I suspect actually happened is they just order frames off the grey web of resellers on behalf of their customers (adding 200$ to the price, for the "service"). Hence their inability to rely on their procurement process. I asked how I might track down another pair of those frames, they did supply me with a contact that seemed reasonable. The people there could not help me, much as I'm sure they couldn't help whatever receptionist or salesperson made the calls to try and procure the frames they had already sold me before they tried the honorable grey web - if indeed they ever did. I'd almost count this as a benefit, but the truth is the kind gesture of letting me get stonewalled by some megacorporation didn't really help me at all, it just wasted yet more time. Never happened before in my life. I've gone through a lot of frames, too. It felt remarkably like being scammed. If I wanted to buy something and never receive it, I'd just go to the grey web myself. By trying to get glasses here, I added 14 days of wearing broken glasses into my life, which has been some minor trouble. read more

It is a TRAVESTY to not have updated my review since Dr. Pusz took over ownership here! She is just the best and I would recommend her over and over again. She's made some really great improvements to the business too. I know she cares and has breathed some new energetic life into the business too. My eyes suck, they just do. So they're pretty tricky to work with and Dr. Pusz has always been very patient with me and my questions and concerns. I basically come in every time and say, I think I'm slowly going blind and she just reassures me that's not the case very calmly and I appreciate that. But if I do have valid concerns she will investigate the issue. She has sent me to some specialistists and done tests to just make sure everything is okay (which everything has) and I appreciate that care. The other thing I really like is their eyeglass selection. I definitely go for funkier glasses and while they absolutely have traditional frames, they have some really fun and funky glasses. One pro-tip too, if you like a pair of sunglasses frames, they can make those regular frames for you too! I've picked up some fun striped cateye Kate Spade glasses that are my absolute favorite I own. It takes a couple weeks to get them in, just a heads up. I will say it can take a while to get my contacts in. I get one-day disposable contacts and have a stigmatism. I'm not sure if these are a "special order" item or not. But it's taken up to 3 weeks to get them in and sometimes I don't think that far ahead to order more before I run out. So just be aware you will need to order contacts from them well ahead of when you think you'll be running out. The whole staff is very nice and it's easy to see why, it always comes from the top down. I'm so glad to have Dr. Pusz taking care of my eyes and I actually look forward to my visits to chit chat and catch up! read more

I had a wonderful experience here! Staff was so friendly and attentive. I was taken to the patient room and for testing in a surprisingly timely manner (not what I'm always used to). The optometrist was personable and thorough. I was provided with a sample of daily contacts to try. After my exam, I was taken right to an associate to help with my contacts/glasses order. He was wonderful, helpful and patient. He provided me with a bunch of different options that I had a tough time choosing between. I have been putting off the eye doctor for a few years now. I decided to try Pusz & Siegel because it was conveniently located near my work. I decided it would be easier to just stop in to try to make an appointment oppose to calling on the phone. The receptionist was extremely helpful. However, there was issues with my insurance so wasn't able to make an appointment at that time. I was able to contact my insurance company and get my information straighten out that day. So I called Pusz & Siegel and was able to schedule an appointment for two days later. I couldn't believe it! I've never been able to schedule an appointment so quickly. The quickness stop there, however. I was politely greeted and given some paperwork to fill out. It took about 20 minutes to be called back. Once my eye pressure and the like were read I was taken to an exam room. I waited at least another 30 minutes to see the doctor. But honestly the doctor was worth the wait. Dr. Henderson was extremely friendly and professional. He answered all my questions thoughtfully. My exam was relatively quick. After that it was back to the waiting game. I had to wait about 15 minutes to have someone assist me with picking out my options. The woman who helped was super informative and nice. She clearly explain what my insurance covered and didn't try to over sell me on anything. Overall, I came out with a great pair of glasses that I love! I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quality doctor. However, if you're looking for a quick in and out experience this might not be the right place for you. read more

I miss being a South Sider, but that doesn't stop me from coming back here. Best eye doctor I could have chosen. I just went here on a whim and because it was due time to have my eyes checked out. Best decision I had made. This new location is by far the best idea they have had. It feels roomier and nothing like being in an eye doctor office. I don't mind sitting in the waiting room now. I feel so comfortable going here and I feel like I am welcomed here. The eye exams aren't that bad either, especially with how awesome the doctors are. I had a few different ones being there on different occasions. I usually see Dr. Siegel while there, but the past two visits I got to meet Dr. Pusz, they are both so kind and make you feel at ease when there. I once saw Dr. Pusz for and emergency appointment and I felt 100% better after leaving there. The selection is so-so for frames, but I'm sure you can find one to fit your face. One other good thing about the place is if you have something wrong with your glasses after receiving them, you can just walk right in and they'll have a look at them, fix them there on the spot for you or try their hardest to find the best solution for your problem. read more

After waiting over two weeks for my new glasses to arrive, I called to check status. I was told that my glasses were not in. Later in the day, I got an email stating that they were, in fact in, but my phone is disconnected, so they couldn't call (it isn't). After taking time off from work, I got there, only to be informed that my glasses were not in, because they gave them to someone else. The only solution they offered was for me to wait for the person that took them to bring them back. However, I had to get back to work. So, now I have no glasses, and i just have to hope that the person who took them brings them back. This was my first and last appointment with them. My other experience was when they ordered transition lenses, after I specifically mentioned that I was not a fan of them. I needed an eye exam desperately, and nobody seemed to be be able to fit me in especially with Covid-19 happening. I called these guys and they made an appointment for me, unfortunately I had to wait a month. I was more than happy to wait though considering. When the day came I was very happy to see they took C19 very seriously and had many precautions in place. The eye exam itself was great the doctor was professional, and awesome at what he does. I really am not a fan. I went here for an eye appointment and to get contacts for the first time. I told them I was very, very nervous about contacts and I had previously been told I was a bad candidate because I've always been really nervous about things in my eyes (for the record, I'm pretty relaxed about everything. I could probably fall asleep at the dentist...but there is just something about my eyes). When it came time for my first appointment to try on my contacts, I was having trouble getting the contacts in. The woman assisting me was getting clearly frustrated with me and had me almost in tears. I told her first thing that I was really anxious about contacts and that this was really stressful for me and she was just short of yelling at me about getting them in. My doctor was the opposite...very nice and patient with me. However, when I told them I didn't feel like my vision was being corrected adequately (both with contacts and glasses), they said I had too high of expectations for what I should be able to see. I struggled to read the last two lines of letters on the chart. I can't read a license plate that is traveling a reasonable distance in front of me. The whole experience was pretty terrible...I can't see great with the contacts and it was borderline traumatic being yelled at over putting in contacts in the first time (only to be completely disappointed with the results). I need to be able to see far distances for my job and we haven't been able to correct enough (I switched job roles in large part due to my problems seeing far distances). Earlier today, I called to order contacts (I had given up and just been wearing my glasses. But for vanity reasons & working with VIPs lately, I wanted contacts as an option). The person I spoke to kept insisting I had never done a contact trial with them, the eye doctor had never seen contacts on my eye and I needed to be trained how to wear contacts, since I had never gone through any of that with them. I was very insistent that I had gone through all of that several times. It was a fight before they finally agreed to order my prescription. I did go through with ordering three months (only because I don't have the time to deal with it right now), but I plan to take my prescription elsewhere and find a new eye doctor. Let me start off by explaining why I'm giving 4 stars. The 4 stars go strictly to the doctor. My boyfriend and I came here a little over a month ago for the first time and saw Dr. Bressler. He was great...very nice and friendly! He took the time to listen and also offered me a cheaper option of contacts that would save me a little money. My boyfriend and I both really liked him and were happy with our experience. We ordered glasses and were very happy with what we got. They also offer a nice selection of glasses and prescription sunglasses. As for the office assistants that work in the front...they are not friendly and unprofessional. Some of them are pretty unwelcoming. They ordered me 2 sets of trial contacts, 2 different brands. I was told one was on back order and they didn't know when they would be in. So after a month of waiting I went back in. I overheard the ladies in the back saying how someone should of called me they were on back order but they had them (who knows how long my contacts were sitting in their office) and that they should just apologize and explain the situation to me...I heard them saying all of this. She came back out gave me my contacts and hardly apologized for the oversight. I get it mistakes happen but she was not apologetic and could not explain what happened. I needed those contacts and no one took the time to notice they were there. I then asked for the other brand of trials I was supposed to receive. She had no idea what I was talking about and all she said was she would have to research them and sent me on my way. I will only go back for the doctor and because the location is convenient for me. I hate to give this place three stars since the eye doctor was so great. It was one of the women working in the front who was rude. The review would have been 5 stars if not for her. The eye doctor, Dr. Bressler, was kind, explained things clearly, and did a thorough examination. I felt like he spent enough time in the exam and didn't rush me through. He made a few adjustments to my contacts and now my vision is much better But now, let's talk about Carla. Carla works in the front in I believe the optical department. (As a note, all the receptionists I've interacted with have been very polite.) I had some confusion with my prescription when trying to reorder contacts and called the office for clarification. Carla answered the phone and became immediately combative, questioning me about where I was going to reorder my contacts. Since that had nothing to do with the question I was asking, I explained that I wasn't reordering them yet since I wasn't sure which prescription applied to which eye. She then launched into a rant about how 1-800 Contacts cost the same as their ordering service and that I shouldn't use 1-800 Contacts. Then when I asked if she could confirm the prescription for each eye she told me I had an illegal prescription (despite it having been written for me by the eye doctor). I went to the office to show the prescription and potentially get a new one that was legal. Carla greeted me at the office telling me that the numbers on the prescription were obvious about which eye they belonged to and that I could have saved myself a trip by learning to read. (As a note the prescription does not specify right or left eye. So how it was obvious, I'm unsure.) If Dr. Bressler wasn't such a great eye doctor, I definitely wouldn't be going back due to the way Carla treated me. read more

He's even made time on a few occasions for urgent visits. The office staff is always very nice and helpful. It's wonderful to have this great eye care office in the Southside neighborhood. I have been a loyal customer since 2010 when I moved to the Southside, Siegel Eye Care Associates was just around the corner from my home. It makes for a pleasant experience to head to an appointment or pick up glasses and contacts on my way to and from my home. In 2011 I had a bad eye infection and was fortunate to have already established a patient relationship with them and I was quickly diagnosed and remedied with eye drop prescriptions. Dr. Siegel's expertise was appreciated in ensuring there was no damage to my eye during that time. Glasses selection is comparable for the area, with quite a few high-end brand and priced specs. My yearly appointment usually begins by trying on said designer frames, then I snap back to reality and meander my way to the insurance covered glasses and can find something that serves my modest needs at no cost. While they do have high end items, they have frames for all budgets and insurance coverages and are a good value. They have nice staff and customer service as well, if I call needing an order of new contacts, or a trial pair to get me by until my FSA or insurance kicks in, they are always willing to work with me to get me taken care of. There are a lot of options when choosing an eye doctor and some of those options are based on insurance coverage or lack thereof. Some simply do the minimum expected and get you fitted for your glasses and contacts -- and that certainly serves a purpose. But for the overall care and health of your eyes and vision, the doctors here are well trained and do take the time to make sure your eyes are healthy at each visit. If you are in the market for a new eye care doctor or aren't overly satisfied where you're at, I suggest trying Siegel Eye Care Associates. read more

I fidget started going here when I got a very serious ulcer on my eye, I had to be seem every day for a week, then every other day for 2. The staff were so nice and they even discounted a lot of my visits to help out. I recently just got new glasses from here, a nice pair of ray bands. The staff member helping me was great! Okay. First the good: some of the employees there are knowledgeable and friendly. I only went there for glasses and not an eye exam, so I can't speak to anything other than that. My glasses took a lot longer to arrive than I originally been led to believe, but overall I'm pleased with the quality. Now here comes the bad: everytime I called to check on the whereabouts of my glasses, my phone call went immediately to voice mail; with the laughable message, " your call is very important to us." After several failed attempts to speak to a human (and not leaving a message), I went to the store, and was told by an employee that all calls go to voice mail, and that I should have left a message, and that they'll call me when my glasses get in. All calls go to voice mail??? Are you kidding me??? I was in retail management for years, and that kind of poor customer service would never have flown on my watch. I would have lost many customers if I had treated them like that. Sorry to say this, but you've lost me as a future customer. I have gone to this place for a couple of years now and this was the first time I had a difficult time with scheduling an appointment. The optometrists were great in the past but the front desk staff was rude and give off the impression I was bothering them for asking questions about my new insurance. Front desk staff didn't want to call new insurance company to get my benefits coverage information and I was told I had to call the insurance company and get the benefits coverage and then call them back and tell them what my benefits were going to be. I give them the ID number, group number, network and name of plan but because they couldn't pull it up on the computer and they didn't want to call because, quote "insurance company put you on hold for a long time". I wore eyewear most of my life and have never had to call an insurance company to get information and give it to the provider because they were to busy to verify my benefits coverage. It's a shame that the front desk staff did not think my business was important to them and more of a inconvenience. I will not be referring this company to friends and colleagues in the future. read more

I will start by saying I think Dr. Bressler is a fine doctor. I will continue to go back for my eye exams because I have gone there for 20+ years, but I will probably will never get glasses from them again for the following reasons: (1) I took an old pair of glasses I really liked and wanted them to replace the lenses with my new prescription. They had me sign a paper indicating they were not responsible if they broke the frames. Sure enough, I got a call after about 2 weeks telling me my frames were broken. I didn't ask about getting the money back I had paid because I'm sure the answer to that would have been no. It makes me wonder if anyone who provides their own frames gets them back with new glasses. (2) Regarding the charges for my lenses (I had no charge for the frames at this point since I provided my own), they were overpriced. I check my insurance after the fact (my fault), and I saw they charged me for premium everything when regular options would have been free with my insurance. Check your insurance before you go, and check what you are being charged for. (3) I have Davis insurance. They have no Davis frames available in the main room. Nor did anyone mention Davis frames being available to me when I was looking at frames. They definitely want you to purchase the $300-$600 designer frames they have in the outer office. When I called to see what my options were for replacing the broken frames, I was told they have Davis frames, which would be free to me. I told them I didn't see any Davis frames and was told they are hidden in the back. That's ridiculous. They have space in their main rooms to display the Davis frames. When I was asked what kind of frames I liked, I answered with only one color, and they provided me with 8 options of Davis frames in that color alone, so obviously they have quite a few in the back. If you have Davis insurance, make sure to tell them you want to see Davis frames. In my experience, I can only assume they won't provide them to you unless you ask. For these reasons, the next time I need a new prescription, I will be going elsewhere to purchase my glasses. read more

The worst. Completely inconsistent, and the glasses/contacts department is a total mess. I had the worst experience with them. (1) They overcharged me, including charging me for things that my insurance clearly covers, which *I* had to resolve and keep track of. (2) The glasses I bought from them did not include the coatings I asked for and paid for, so they needed to be sent back and redone (3) My prescription said one kind of contact lens - they gave me another, and said they were the same and that I didn't need a new fitting. This is WRONG. Every time you switch types of lenses you need a new fitting. I checked with other doctors and even asked the manufacturer of the lens, and they all agreed that the lenses are different, even though the ladies at this establishment said they were the same and I didn't need a new fitting. I seriously don't trust these people with my eyes. This is awful, I have money down the tube that I can't get back, and they have an incompetent and irresponsible staff. read more

I am in my mid 60's, but resent being addressed by a "pet name" that only my father ever used. I spent quite a lot of time researching various optometrists in the Pittsburgh area and am very happy I went with Siegel & Portnoy on East Carson. I waited only a few minutes for the first exam, it was busy in the office that day, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 so I know often at other offices, the wait can be quite long once you are in the exam room. My entire appointment (check in, exam, and picking out glasses) only took about 30 minutes. They have a really nice selection in frames, aren't too pricey, and I appreciated the staff assistance in picking out something new. It took only a week to get my new glasses in. I'd recommend this eye care office for anyone local to Pittsburgh. read more

I've been a patient here for almost five years and after my most recent experience, I will not be returning. Overall, it was a string of disappointing events. I wanted to use my insurance to replace lenses in frames I already owned. I recently got new vision insurance, but for some reason the staff were unable to look it up through their system, even after I confirmed the type of insurance I had. Being that I was there on a Saturday, they suggested paying out of pocket and sorting out the insurance on Monday. On that Monday, my insurance company confirmed my coverage and gave me the information that the staff would need to process everything. When I called Siegel Eye Care, I was told that they were unable to refund me, submit an insurance claim, or anything else remotely helpful. It was very disappointing, especially since I had just been told that they would be able to sort it all out only two days prior. I never received a phone call when my glasses were available. When I went to pick them up, the frames were caked in a white film, which the staff person kept blaming on the age of the frames. When I was able to scrape it off, she acknowledged that this was from the lab and that they should have been cleaned after the lenses were placed (i.e., not due to the age of the frames). Overall, the staff did not seem to be knowledgeable in regards to the variability between insurance types and how claims should be processed. Further, they did not in any way own their responsibility in fumbling my insurance information, which was just the final straw.
