First, let me say that my wife and I are in our 70s and have been wearing glasses since childhood. We've gone to Eye Gallery for optometrist appointments, glasses and contact lenses, as a family, for almost half a century. When Jim Doty ran the place we were always treated fairly and with pleasantness. My parents got their glasses there, we did, our children went there and so did our grandkids at one point. However, the place appears to be run by an obnoxious young guy now and it has gone to hell in the last few years. For years our insurance has provided zero copay annual eye exams. However, the guy running Eye Gallery now apparently feels that is not enough, so twice in the past few years when my wife has gone for her annual zero copay exam, he has twice billed it as medical, even though we told him we see their optometrist for the basic exam and to get a fresh prescription for our eyes. Each time it cost her $30 for the exam. This time we both argued with him over it and he finally relented, but made it sound like he was doing us a favor begrudgingly. His tone was condescending and arrogant. The last time I went for glasses, they tried to tell me that they did not participant with my insurance co., but my insurer told me repeated that Eye Gallery was a participating provider. The personal handling insurance gave the wrong company name when checking to see if they were participating (apparently, they have multiple corporations within the Eye Gallery, which is strange since I'm only aware of their one location in Peters). There are some very nice and efficient opticians there and at least one good optometrist (Fazzini), but new management makes this a very unpleasant place to go and a place where you may get ripped off. I would advise at least not going for an eye exam there, though they do have a wide selection of frames at halfway decent prices (in today's high inflation environment). However, my wife has also had to have glasses remade several times recently. And the excuses are similar to some of the ones other reviewers here and on other sites have experienced; "oh your eye problems are unusual, oh it must be your fault", etc etc. read more

I am so surprised at the reviews I read. They have been wonderful to me. I spend a lot of time picking my glasses and they allow me to go all over the displays till I'm satisfied. The people that work in the frame department are very patient because I'm very picky. I can't imagine that they are real reviews when they talk about rudeness and being hassled for taking too much time. read more

An unusually aggressive, rude manager or owner? That wants control of you the second you walk in. Not allowed to just look or walk around without being questioned to death before you can even find something you like. He is very pushy but we ended up having a laugh when he asked us to leave. I guess its buy or leave so we left and spent our money at a nicer location in Alpharetta. read more

Turns out we were pretty happy with the glasses we got. They have a "factory" there where they can cut your common prescription to the frame you select while you wait. That is a pretty handy feature if you need glasses immediately. read more

Been going to have my son's glasses made for like over a decade. The reason this place is busy is because it is so good and the staff are great! They take the time with each person to help pick the glasses out~they repair glasses quickly if need be. Never had a bad experience after over 10 years of service. read more

Ive been going to The Eye Gallery for years they offer exceptional service, quality products and a professional atmosphere. Their opticians are friendly and great to deal with. You may think with all of this great service and professionalism there pricing would be through the roof, it's not, they have some of the best prices on named brands around. Often in fact it is less expensive to deal direct with them than going through your own insurance company! Within the last 2 months I was there again picking up new frames which for me is every other year and I have never been dissatisfied with the service I have received. read more

Horrible. I've gone to this place for a number of years for contact lenses. Sherry Prevade-Marinacci, O.D, was who always has examined my eyes, and fitted me. I've been suffering with astigmatism for a long time now, and she never cared to offer any solutions for me when I asked about it. She would prescribe me contact lenses that never corrected my vision properly. My vision was different between both eyes after her fitting. One eye was always stronger than the other, causing me to constantly close one eye when trying to do everyday tasks, even walking and sometimes even driving. I'd ask Sherry about it, and nothing. I'd get "they don't make contacts in the strengths needed to correct your vision properly." I am SOO mad I put up with this for all of these years. I went to a different eye doctor last week, and behold, the lady fitted me with contact lenses with one lens correcting for my astigmatism. It's wonderful! I can see again! Never again, will I ever go to the Eye Gallery. I feel as if I was treated like a member of a herd of cattle. You're in, and you're out....next! No personalized service. Everything was rushed. Sherry Prevade-Marinacci even mistakenly gave me the wrong set of contact lenses at one point, and when I complained, nothing was done about it other than "people make mistakes." This place is expensive, non-caring, and only in business to suck the money from the cattle who continue to patronize them. Do not go here. Ever! read more

If there was a less than one review I would choose that. I went to the eye gallery for a contacts exam. All seemed fine and then by the time I got out of there I realized the contacts really bothered my eyes and kept sliding off then when I would blink. I told the eye gallery about this issue which resulted in six, yes, six more visits there over the next few weeks. Finally I had to tell them "look I am getting married this week, may I please just have the same brand of contacts I had before I saw you? They work good, I never has issues I just need those" I was told "yes of course" So I decided I wanted to purchase my contacts through 1800 contacts to which they said to me "we have the same prices" my whole issue is I didn't want to have to drive there another time this year. I have already been led on wild goose chase for months with you giving me contacts that didn't work. Then I found out why they weren't working ... I order in 1800 contacts all is well and then 1800 contacts calls and tells me that the dr denied my request to fill my contact rx. So I call 1800 contacts get it sorted out, it happens again. This time because what I'm ordering doesn't reflect my the rx the eye gallery has for me. I've had astigmatism in my right eye for 7 years but the eye gallery keeps ordering me normal contacts for my right eye. The doctor finally calls and says "yes, astigmatism is only able to be corrected in glasses lens, not contacts so that's not what you need" .. excuse me what?! That's not even real. When I told the woman at 1800 contacts that her response was "are you kidding me?!" So basically these people have wasted over a month of my time, I still have no contacts and have to go get a new prescription from a doctor who knows what the hell he is talking about. I will highly encourage you to not waste your time or money with the eye gallery cause chances are they will screw up your prescription. read more

I am completely in shock over the lapse in customer service, my wife and I have been customers for over a decade here and I called to let them know that I had lost my eyeglasses on my vacation. I called seeking their help since i obviously needed some expediency in replacing the glasses. I was told cannot get an appointment until September......I use my glasses daily for reading and driving so I needed their help and could not wait til September. They told me I "guess you would have to go elsewhere which I will do. Terrible answer for a customer to hear! read more

I gave my mother a pair of my FAVORITE frames for this eye gallery to put my new prescriptions in while I was away at school. To come back to her giving me a completely different, ugly, bright purple, pair of frames that were NOT mine. My mother then told me that they had broken my frames. With no call to inform me or even ask about replacing my broken frames. I then went in to talk to them about what had happened. One of the employees could not even look me in the face and proceeded to tell me that these bright purple, ugly frames, were my original frames, whereas my original frames were black on the outside and blue on the inside. As the employee was avoiding eye contact, and making up random excuses about what happened to my original frames, he then mumbled under his breath that my original frames were probably in the trash like the rest of the broken frames. I then became so frustrated with this employee, and no help, that I just left and will not be returning. I am deeply disappointed in this eye gallery, especially since my whole family has been going here since I was little. Not anymore. The employee was rude, could not give me an explanation about what had happened to my glasses, had no interest in helping me, and even seemed annoyed with me after I had been nice the whole time. With no apologies, ugly glasses, and disappointment I will never be coming back to this place again. read more

As a customer for over 30 years, I am shocked that anyone would ever give this business a less than 5 star review. Also the 4 dollar sign indicating that this is an expensive place to purchase eye wear, is just plain wrong! I guess that just shows how inaccurate Yelp can be! At any rate, the staff at the Eye Gallery is top notch! The doctors are very professional and thorough and friendly. All the staff who assist you in choosing your frames are very experienced and knowledgeable and I have always love the frames they have helped me pick out. Their prices are more than reasonable and they stand by their products. I'll never forget how kind they were to us when my then 11 year old son broke his glasses frames the day before a long-planned vacation to visit Grand Canyon and several national parks. They found a pair of "loaner " frames for him that fit the lenses of his glasses and ordered a new frame for him for when we got back ( all free of charge!.) Who does that for their customers? I would highly recommend the Eye Gallery to anyone who is looking for quality eye wear and eye care, delivered by the friendliest people around!! read more

Never again, eye gallery. Due to a change in insurance, I didn't go to the provider I had used for years. My wife made me an appointment, and I went on a Tuesday morning at 9. I was called back quickly, and the doctor came in. She was quick witted, and conversational. She up sold me a contact 'fitting' and gave me some disposable samples. I completed my vision check and went to the lobby where I was paired with a gentleman who was supposed to help me find my new glasses. Maybe it's me. Maybe because I don't change frames every 6 weeks, and spending ANYTHING is something we need to carefully consider at this point.... He seemed perturbed that I didn't like the style of glasses he kept handing me. I told him I preferred the 'Ray Ban' style. He said they didn't have any of those. I got up from the desk and began looking through the racks. I found a pair of RayBans that he didn't have, and asked for pricing. $72. Not bad, I'll take them. I didn't get the anti-glare, or progressive lenses, just basic plastic lenses. I asked him when I should expect them to be ready. He shot me a 'Friday' as I left the office. Friday came and went, nothing. The following Tuesday they called and I stopped to pick them up. I waited a short time in the waiting room and they came out with them. I asked for a copy of my prescription (figuring I may be able to pick up a cheap pair of sunglasses at walmart)... The receptionist quipped 'well, I'll have to go in the back for it...' Sorry lady. I didn't tell them to print the prescriptions in the back. I had the glasses for a week. At some point, I (or one of my minions) scratched a lens. My wife took them back to the office. They took my glasses from her and said 'maybe it'll be free, maybe not.' Again. We're not at a place where we have extra money. I don't mind paying for something I broke, but I need to know what I'm spending.... My wife called back, and they assured her they would take care of it, which I appreciated. When asked how long, they told my wife a 'couple of days.' A week later we got a call that they were ready. I stopped at the office with my daughter to pick up my glasses. This time, 'Please have a seat' was 40 minutes. They brought out the glasses, I took a quick peek, thanked them, and headed to the door. When I got in my truck, I yanked my contacts and put the glasses on. The other lens was gouged. I took them back in, and they took them into the back. After 10 minutes they apologized and said they would order another lens, but go ahead and take them. I asked how long.... They told me Monday it would be in (This was Thursday). About a week later they called and said the lens was in. My wife took my glasses to be repaired, again. She took our girls for a ride while they fixed the glasses. When she arrived back, the original scratched lens was back in the glasses. She pointed it out, and they took them back again, spending 10 minutes swapping out the lenses again. I returned home tonight to find my glasses, lens improperly installed and frames bent. Never again. The other misgivings in our dealings with Eye Gallery... My wife was quoted $30 for my daughters glasses, but when they came in, they were $130. My youngest needed glasses at 2 years old. They sold us plastic frames that lasted about 3 days, though my wife asked about the rubber ones you see on kids all of the time. I took them back with her, and they said they'd fix them once for no charge. When her glasses came back, no lenses. (She had broken the hinge). However, they did get some of those rubber ones in. Since they lost the lenses, they did let us get the rubber pair at no charge. If you need an Eye Doctor, try Eye Candy in Canonsburg. They'll spoil you there, and spare you the attitude and terrible service. read more

The doctors are fantastic. But the office is poorly run. The receptionists are friendly, although, not terribly knowledgeable and thus unable to be of much assistance. The woman responsible for contact lenses could not be less friendly; I always feel as though I'm bothering her whenever I try to place a reorder. The office is always busy so I suppose there are a fair number of people willing to put up with all the chaos. My family has been going here for over five years. I hate to leave my doctor but I just cannot deal with the other aspects of this office any longer. read more

Very disappointed with the McMurray location. My first visit was great and was very satisfied with my exam, lenses and cost. My second visit was terrible...I had a 12 o'clock appointment and arrived on time..there were a couple people ahead of me but after 20 minutes I was the only one in the office...there appeared to be 3 or 4 technicians so I questioned the receptionist as to why I had to wait, she apologized and said it shouldn't be much longer. I could hear the technicians laughing and probably having lunch in another room. After another 20 minutes I got up and left. These people need to be schooled on customer service. I could accept the delay if there were other patients being waited on but there wasn't...I was due to get contacts and new glasses so they lost a nice sale. read more

While traveling in Pittsburgh I broke my glasses that I had purchased from this location seven years ago. They happily replaced the broken part and another unbroken one to match at no cost. Wish I still lived here for among other reasons so I could use them when I needed glasses. I'll certainly consider them in the future if my needs coordinate with travel here. read more

If I could give a no star review I would. Absolutely horrendous pricing. I should not have to pay $101 for generic frames and $200 for contacts that I purchased at my old optometrist's office for $50!! They also call themselves "specialists" so they could charge me $50 through my medical insurance rather than the $10 I should have paid through my eye insurance. The doctor I saw was decent but she most certainly was not worth $300+. Save your money and don't be robbed by these crooks. They should also use all of the moment they take from you to invest in a bigger parking lot. read more

This place is so poorly run. There are several doctors and several employees helping with glasses but only one woman behind the desk to check people in and out, retrieve glasses/contacts, schedule appts, etc. There needs to be more of her as it's clear she's in over her head (not her fault but the office is busier than it can handle). They lost my information and are very disorganized. I felt rushed the entire time, in both the exam and out front...it felt like a machine line. Will not be going back here. read more

It is a shame, I have always thought so highly of this vision center until today. I even complimented the staff and told numerous friends about how wonderful this facility and its opticians were. Not anymore. I called today asking to see if I could get a trial sample, even just a "pair" of contacts for my son, who is 11 years old, until I could order more, and yes through another outlet because to be honest Walmart's prices are WAY cheaper than the Eye Gallery, I even told them I would pay for them and Dr. Sherry said "NO!" So let's punish an 11 year old who cannot see without them and has to go away for the weekend to play hockey. I am done with this place and will not be recommending it to anyone anymore. read more
