Great pizza by the slice and one of the last places to get food in the area at night. The goat cheese and spinach was my favorite.

    Awesome selection

Loved this pizza! I am a pizza snob from NY and this was as good as it gets. Tried their cheese, Pesto and White pizza. Awesome. Very friendly service as well. Highly recommend.

    Bolognese pizza. Delicious

I am from America, but I try to come once a year here. I love it. I love this country and love this city. This pizza is my hidden gem. The bolognese pizza is incredible. Absolutely unbelievable. Every time I visit Galway I have to stop by here. Go have some pints somewhere and then come get some incredible food, you won't regret it.

You get to see the freshly made pizza right in front of you. Tried the spinach mushroom and the chicken pizzas and liked them both. Very reasonable prices for the content they provide you!

pasta al pomodoro, simple dish but SO good

I have to admit, I wasn't sure about this place at first, since from the outside it looked like many others cheap "Italian" places (which a lot of times turn out not to be that Italian at all), however I am SO glad we decided to try it out. It was possibly the best pasta I've had in Ireland. Tried the pizza too and was delicious as well. We liked this place so much we went back the following day. The staff was amazing too, everyone was super friendly and the chef came out asking if we liked our dishes. I also couldn't get over how big the portions were and how cheap everything was, especially considering the quality of the food. Like I said the place is very casual and quite small but would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants authentic Italian. The gnocchi gorgonzola and bacon especially were insanely good. Can't stress enough how much I loved this place, will go back next time I'm in Galway for sure.

Probably one of the best (and cheapest) meals I have had in Ireland! I chose the sausage pizza and was not disappointed. It came with a soda for 4.90 euro. Seating is a bit tight and lunchtime can be crowded, but well worth it for this amazing pizza!

Delicious. Authentic. Around 6$ for a slice and a soda. Refreshing that the prices are great and the food is superb.

Delicious pizza. Huge slice for a great price of 3.50. Perfect for the walk home after a long night (be sure to fold in half!).

The exterior has bright…read moreorange eaves blending into the lively Quay Street around it; once inside, you'll find a relaxed, slightly bohemian space with artful décor and comfortable seating that feels like a polished local favorite. The vibe is upbeat and casual, loud but not overly so: great for group dinners, laid-back evenings, or a hearty meal after a day of sightseeing. At around 6:30pm on a Sunday night, our group of eleven needed a dinner option close to the station before our bus back to Dublin. There was no seating inside the restaurant, but plenty of space on the heated patio outside. The menu has something for everyone, with small plates, sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas, and there's also daily specials and a fairly affordable drinks menu. I ordered their Beetroot & Goats Cheese Salad (€15), which was a fresh salad of mixed leaves, beetroot, vinegary-pickled onions, acidic-sweet marinated tomatoes, rich warm goat cheese, mixed nuts, and extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze. This was a wonderland of textures and flavors, with crunch and softness, acidity and earthiness; for me, the true standout was the generous portion of two sizable pieces of melty, creamy goat cheese with just a slight hint of tang. I also appreciated the fact that the salad wasn't drenched in dressing, but thoughtfully drizzled with a light EVOO and mild balsamic glaze. I initially thought it was a bit pricey, but it was a large portion, and I found the goats cheese made a great substitute for a more traditional salad protein; additionally, the freshness of the vegetables made me willing to pay more of a premium. Other great dishes included their Spicy 'Ndjuja Pizza (€16 - a thin crust pizza topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy 'nduja sausage, Cashel Blue cheese, and a drizzle of honey), Primavera (€16 - pasta with roasted chicken, sundried tomatoes, and red onion in a creamy Parmesan sauce), and their Bailey's Tiramisu (€8 - the classic Italian dessert spiked with a splash of Bailey's...it was absolutely as delicious as it sounds). I will note that the pizzas seemed to be a better value than the pastas, as they were larger portions at similar prices. All in all, Freddie's is a fun Italian-inspired (if not entirely authentic) restaurant in a heavily-flocked area of Galway, service is friendly (if a bit slow when it gets busy), and prices are reasonable for the location, portion sizes, and tasty food. It's an easy pick for anyone in the area wanting an enjoyable night out!
