The pizza/food is pretty good, and the service is always friendly. I love sitting outside, the view is amazing.

First off, I wish my review could be more positive. My bet is the star of this restaurant is their pizza because my group was unanimously disappointed in the lasagna and spaghetti. The lasagna was bland and I would guess it was frozen and not fresh. Regardless, it didn't have any robust Italian seasoning. Everyone did like the garlic bread, however, we were not aware there was a charge for an additional piece of bread. The waitress never mentioned it. My husband and I were craving pizza and decided to try Pizza Cave. He placed our order over the phone because the online ordering system wasn't working. When my husband was on the phone placing the order the woman that he spoke with said that they don't use online ordering anymore. You will have to call in your order. We drove up, picked up the pizza and we came home to enjoy our dinner. I didn't get down or go inside so I'm not sure what the ambiance is like. We ordered family sized garlic knots and a large BBQ Pie with Chicken. It comes with meat, onions, and BBQ sauce. The Garlic Knots were delicious. They were soft, warm, and full of garlic flavor. The BBQ Pie was good. The crust holding the ingredients was thin and the exterior crust was a little thicker while being light and fluffy. The chicken on the pizza was plentiful and in large pieces spread out on the pizza. The onions were long and thin like strings of onions. They were also spread out on the pizza but I really couldn't taste the flavor of the onions. The BBQ sauce was different. It was like a combination of BBQ sauce and marinara sauce with a little spice from the pepper. The cheese was there but it wasn't overwhelming. Overall Pizza Cave has good food. I was craving pizza driving from Johnson city to Austin and stopped by the Pizza Cave. The food and service were fantastic. It took a little longer to get our pizza which surprised me as it wasn't that busy on a later Sunday afternoon. There is outside seating with nice views of the hill country. They really know what they are doing there. The pizza is EXCELLENT. I split a pepper and onion pie with my parents, and it had the perfect amount of toppings. The peppers and onions were cooked and chewy, not the way a lot of places serve them still crunchy. We also started with a Greek salad, which was HUGE, but full of fresh ingredients. Everything was so good. We opted to sit outside because the acoustics inside make it pretty loud on a crowded evening, but outside is where it is at because of that view. I am happy to have discovered this, as my parents are often on the prowl for a good pizza in their area. This is it! read more

I will leave two separate reviews in this post to be fair to the establishment. Pizza Cave is a hopping place with food offerings that included pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, soups and chowders. We had pizza, garlic knots, tomato bisque, salad, spaghetti with meatballs and lasagna. All were so good and delicious. Salads are huge and can be shared. The flavors were on point and just the right hint of garlic. There are so many options to choose from on everything that everyone in your party will be happy. Bar is available with basic beers and basic alcoholic offerings. I was impressed and recommend for those that are in town and looking to grab a bite to eat. Second review- will be overly critical but for good reason and hope to help this family establishment be successful in future catered events. We came to Pizza Cave for a wedding rehearsal dinner for my daughter's wedding. Note: I did not make the arrangements. Observations: this place was already heavily busy which says a lot about quality and popularity of establishment. For them to accommodate a LARGE group on top of that even with advanced notice without knowing how busy their normal clientele would be is a tough task. I would recommend having pitchers of water on the tables ready for guests to arrive. It seemed as they didn't have enough staff on hand to accommodate both the wedding party and regular patrons. We as a party waited quite a bit for drinks. We even wondered if we were to go inside to order. When first round of pizzas came out- it wasn't enough to feed the whole group so many were left waiting for the second round which was a long time. Pizza and nonalcoholic beverages were provided by family. Anything else off the menu was on your own. Many ended up ordering on their own but even then took awhile to come out. It was already dark outside and while they had string lights it was not enough to light up the one table that held the pizza. I recommend LED candles to place around the table as well as a two table set up to allow for space for more pizza and of course to create ambience. Again great place, I would not bring a large group though if you see it's busy. Unless you do not mind waiting. Our group was about 60 people, pre planned and expected. Staffing should have been accounted for but they did a great job keeping up as best as they could and they were all so accommodating and nice. read more

Met my parents for lunch on 3/15/24. Dripping Springs pretty much splits the different between the cities we both live. Pizza cave had a nice lunch menu. We decided, however to split a large pizza and family salad between 5 of us and it was plenty of food. We got a 1/2 Classic White (the ricotta was amazing) and 1/2 Alfredo. We got a Caesar Salad... and killed it... because it WAS the Ides of March (that's the dad joke). My parents decided to split the large Philly Cheesesteak sub (didn't get a photo but I swear it looked like 2 larges, not one split in half). The vibe of the restaurant was nice. Clean. It wasn't busy, but it wasn't too loud at all. Had video trivia happened in one corner of you wanted to jump in on your phone. Service was laid back but good. I don't normally review while still at the place, but yikes!!! We just got a check-in from our server (a very nice, however timid and unsure, young man) for the first time in over 20 mins. He's walked past us dozens of times, checking on other tables. I watched thirstily as he sipped on his soda behind the bar. Meanwhile we haven't had drink in our cups for 20 mins and I flipped our cups upside down on the table almost 15 mins ago. It's been 10 minutes since my plate has been completely empty. The other servers observed my situation and said nothing to me or my server about it. The lack of attention or concern by the entire staff was shocking. Update: despite the issues I left about a 22% cash tip, and a note stating he was a very nice young man, but I recommend working on his steps of service, and his attention/follow-ups. Just wow! I was in Dripping for a doctor appointment around lunch time. I checked Yelp and was led to Pizza Cave for pizza. They have some reasonably priced lunch specials. I opted for the slice and soup combo. For the soup I chose the piggie chowder. Delicious! It's a nice sized cup of a creamy chowder loaded with sausage, ham and bacon. It's got just enough kick to get your attention! For the slice I opted for the loaded meat. And it lived up to its name. Huge chunks of sausage with ham and Canadian bacon. Pulled in for a quick lunch not knowing what to expect. Love the vibe and staff. I got lost in the view of the Hill Country and could stay forever. The piggy chow is the best soup I've had in a long, long time. I could see this being a must-have future Costco item. Perfect notes of ham, potato, and sausage. I will be back again and again for it. My husband and I are new to the area and decided to try The Pizza Cave because we were in close proximity. We are truly amazed at how tasty our food was as well as the large portions! The Texas Cheesesteak Sandwich was...well, there are no words. The bun was soft and beautiful, with the inside brisket tips done to perfection! We both ordered a chicken Caesar salad, as well. The salad was huge and we both commented that we've NEVER had that much chicken on a Caesar salad before. The dressing had to be a "homemade" recipe, as there was the slightest hint of anchovy that blended in so well, without being overpowering. The marinara sauce on the pizza was amazing and I enjoyed the little bit of spice in it. The cheesecake which was Fourth of July themed was quite amazing. I could fairly say it's one of the better cheesecakes I've had in a long time and the topping was not excessively sweet but a good complement to the the cheesecake. Beer selection is a bit limited, and they were out of a couple of draft options. But the service was super friendly, and welcoming. The staff checked on the table several times and wanted to make sure that we were taken care of.
