I was craving pizza driving from Johnson city to Austin and stopped by the Pizza Cave. The food and service were fantastic. It took a little longer to get our pizza which surprised me as it wasn't that busy on a later Sunday afternoon. There is outside seating with nice views of the hill country. The white pie was AWESOME!

Phenomenal!! Joe Cave knows his pizza. We are from the east coast & feel like we are back home ... amazingly fresh. No wonder the area restaurants rely on his knowledge ... and what a fun guy to talk to as well. Passionate entrepreneur. Thanks for a great experience! We ordered the large with crumbled sausage, black olives, mushrooms, bell peppers & fresh basil. To die for. -Ray & Heather

Hey Siri, the salads are beyond incredible! Big huge bowls, full of fresh lettuce and whatever else you wanted in it. The ant pasta salad was delicious. Meatball Parm sub was nice and crunchy and tasty and the meatball pizza was for sure a hit our server Isabelle was very attentive, knowledgeable, courteous with the most beautiful smile. we just arrived from Florida and stopped here for some food and we loved it.

Came here twice within 24 hours while away for a baseball weekend. Great menu offerings with fresh ingredients and portion sizes to leave you stuffed. The breads, pizza dough, and dressings are all house made and delicious. Service was attentive and pleasant. Open kitchen was a great addition to the atmosphere. The outdoor patio with hill country views for miles was tranquil and a pleasant adder to an already stellar meal. Food was on point no matter what we ordered; zero complaints!

Caesar Salad (it was 3/15 - Had to)

Met my parents for lunch on 3/15/24. Dripping Springs pretty much splits the different between the cities we both live. Pizza cave had a nice lunch menu. We decided, however to split a large pizza and family salad between 5 of us and it was plenty of food. We got a 1/2 Classic White (the ricotta was amazing) and 1/2 Alfredo. We got a Caesar Salad... and killed it... because it WAS the Ides of March (that's the dad joke). My parents decided to split the large Philly Cheesesteak sub (didn't get a photo but I swear it looked like 2 larges, not one split in half). The vibe of the restaurant was nice. Clean. It wasn't busy, but it wasn't too loud at all. Had video trivia happened in one corner of you wanted to jump in on your phone. Service was laid back but good. They figured out quickly that putting a pitcher of water on our table was the move. They were right. Overall delicious and we will be back.

    Empty plate of lasagna

I don't normally review while still at the place, but yikes!!! We just got a check-in from our server (a very nice, however timid and unsure, young man) for the first time in over 20 mins. He's walked past us dozens of times, checking on other tables. I watched thirstily as he sipped on his soda behind the bar. Meanwhile we haven't had drink in our cups for 20 mins and I flipped our cups upside down on the table almost 15 mins ago. It's been 10 minutes since my plate has been completely empty. The other servers observed my situation and said nothing to me or my server about it. The lack of attention or concern by the entire staff was shocking. Update: despite the issues I left about a 22% cash tip, and a note stating he was a very nice young man, but I recommend working on his steps of service, and his attention/follow-ups. Him and the other servers seemed to find that call to action with an undeserved tip so comical that I watched them all laugh about it through the window. (Shrug) I guess you can lead a horse to water, but...

Just wow! I was in Dripping for a doctor appointment around lunch time. I checked Yelp and was led to Pizza Cave for pizza. They have some reasonably priced lunch specials. I opted for the slice and soup combo. For the soup I chose the piggie chowder. Delicious! It's a nice sized cup of a creamy chowder loaded with sausage, ham and bacon. It's got just enough kick to get your attention! For the slice I opted for the loaded meat. And it lived up to its name. Huge chunks of sausage with ham and Canadian bacon. The crust was perfectly crisp and the slice was hot. And the service was great. I'll be back next time I'm down that way.

    Awesome Stromboli

Good is always fresh and good here. Always get the garlic knots they are the best and the Stromboli is another favorite of mine.

    Pizza with toppings sliding

We ordered pizza and spaghetti/meatballs. The bill was between 50 and 60, including tip. The pasta wasn't great, and the pizza had a mishap in the car, toppings and cheese sliding to one side. When we got home we repaired the pizza as best we could. It looked terrible but tasted great. I'd suggest eating there. I'd give it 3-1/2 stars if I could. I wasn't in the mood to re-assemble the 'za.

    Piggy chow
    Ashley A.

Pulled in for a quick lunch not knowing what to expect. Love the vibe and staff. I got lost in the view of the Hill Country and could stay forever. The piggy chow is the best soup I've had in a long, long time. I could see this being a must-have future Costco item. Perfect notes of ham, potato, and sausage. I will be back again and again for it. I'll try the Texas chowder next time too. I had a lunch special slice of basil and cheese and pepperoni that hit every NY note. What a treat to have such a cute and authentic pizza place in the heart of DS. Thank you to Susan, my server for letting me relax and take it all in, some servers try to rush you so much. I also had the pleasure of meeting Joe and was very impressed. Love, love, love this place!

Crust and sauce are solid, ham and uncooked bacon only in the middle.

I enjoyed my time here. Don't forget to get some gelato on your way out. The service was spectacular and the waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu . Now, let's get into what I ate. Appetizers: Bread- I'm not sure what the proper name for the bread is, but it was so good. The bread was like a warm hug. It had a welcoming taste. I can't even explain it fully. The texture was phenomenal. It was like a cornbread and a roll put together. Artichoke fritters- This dish surprised me. I didn't expect to like it so much. It was fried to perfection and flavorful. I honestly didn't need the sauce . Meatballs- The meatballs were the best I've had in my life. They were covered in a well prepared sauce. Entrée: Snapper with pesto pasta- My snapper was very flavorful. The only downfall of the snapper was the size. For the price, I expected a whole snapper. The pasta was good, but I'm not a huge fan of pasta. I also ordered brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were cooked very well. Dessert: Biscoff and almond gelato - This was a perfect ending to to a wonderful meal. The gelato flavors change often. I will definitely go again!

For most pasta dishes, I'd hit Mandola's in Austin. Save about $10 an entree and some gas money. A few weeks ago I didn't want to venture too far off the ranch. Wife and I ended up at Lisina on Saturday. Calamari to start was crisp and not chewy. Caesar salad followed and was a nice example of the dish. Lisina is also a little skimpy on offering bread refills. We finished with drinks and the panna cotta. Just over $100 for this experience. WELL, the next day I needed to take mom out for her anniversary. Dad has long passed but I always try to do something special. Sunday highlights forthcoming. This time with mom and Rooster along we started with the carpaccio. The presentation really wowed because it looks like red plate until you realize all that color is shaved tenderloin. White plate underneath! The greens, parmesan, and aioli was one of the best I've had. Mom went for the gnocchi; Rooster goes for the Mezzaluna ravioli. This is now Rooster's fave restaurant. I went back to the appetizers section and selected the crab cake. Zero complaints on these dishes. Don't forget mom's wine. Gelato and cake to finish the meal. I think I've dined here once since my 2009 review. Yup, steak pics still accounted for on Yelp. Trattoria Lisina is still going strong in Driftwood. Expect $$$$, this meal was almost $300. Good food ain't cheap folks.
