Meatball pizza
Laura K.

Hey Siri, the salads are beyond incredible! Big huge bowls, full of fresh lettuce and whatever else you wanted in it. The ant pasta salad was delicious. Meatball Parm sub was nice and crunchy and tasty and the meatball pizza was for sure a hit our server Isabelle was very attentive, knowledgeable, courteous with the most beautiful smile. we just arrived from Florida and stopped here for some food and we loved it.

Came here twice within 24 hours while away for a baseball weekend. Great menu offerings with fresh ingredients and portion sizes to leave you stuffed. The breads, pizza dough, and dressings are all house made and delicious. Service was attentive and pleasant. Open kitchen was a great addition to the atmosphere. The outdoor patio with hill country views for miles was tranquil and a pleasant adder to an already stellar meal. Food was on point no matter what we ordered; zero complaints!

Phenomenal!! Joe Cave knows his pizza. We are from the east coast & feel like we are back home ... amazingly fresh. No wonder the area restaurants rely on his knowledge ... and what a fun guy to talk to as well. Passionate entrepreneur. Thanks for a great experience! We ordered the large with crumbled sausage, black olives, mushrooms, bell peppers & fresh basil. To die for. -Ray & Heather

Caesar Salad (it was 3/15 - Had to)

Met my parents for lunch on 3/15/24. Dripping Springs pretty much splits the different between the cities we both live. Pizza cave had a nice lunch menu. We decided, however to split a large pizza and family salad between 5 of us and it was plenty of food. We got a 1/2 Classic White (the ricotta was amazing) and 1/2 Alfredo. We got a Caesar Salad... and killed it... because it WAS the Ides of March (that's the dad joke). My parents decided to split the large Philly Cheesesteak sub (didn't get a photo but I swear it looked like 2 larges, not one split in half). The vibe of the restaurant was nice. Clean. It wasn't busy, but it wasn't too loud at all. Had video trivia happened in one corner of you wanted to jump in on your phone. Service was laid back but good. They figured out quickly that putting a pitcher of water on our table was the move. They were right. Overall delicious and we will be back.

Empty plate of lasagna

I don't normally review while still at the place, but yikes!!! We just got a check-in from our server (a very nice, however timid and unsure, young man) for the first time in over 20 mins. He's walked past us dozens of times, checking on other tables. I watched thirstily as he sipped on his soda behind the bar. Meanwhile we haven't had drink in our cups for 20 mins and I flipped our cups upside down on the table almost 15 mins ago. It's been 10 minutes since my plate has been completely empty. The other servers observed my situation and said nothing to me or my server about it. The lack of attention or concern by the entire staff was shocking. Update: despite the issues I left about a 22% cash tip, and a note stating he was a very nice young man, but I recommend working on his steps of service, and his attention/follow-ups. Him and the other servers seemed to find that call to action with an undeserved tip so comical that I watched them all laugh about it through the window. (Shrug) I guess you can lead a horse to water, but...

Loaded meat lunch slice
Russell B.

Just wow! I was in Dripping for a doctor appointment around lunch time. I checked Yelp and was led to Pizza Cave for pizza. They have some reasonably priced lunch specials. I opted for the slice and soup combo. For the soup I chose the piggie chowder. Delicious! It's a nice sized cup of a creamy chowder loaded with sausage, ham and bacon. It's got just enough kick to get your attention! For the slice I opted for the loaded meat. And it lived up to its name. Huge chunks of sausage with ham and Canadian bacon. The crust was perfectly crisp and the slice was hot. And the service was great. I'll be back next time I'm down that way.

Awesome Stromboli

Good is always fresh and good here. Always get the garlic knots they are the best and the Stromboli is another favorite of mine.

Piggy chow

Pulled in for a quick lunch not knowing what to expect. Love the vibe and staff. I got lost in the view of the Hill Country and could stay forever. The piggy chow is the best soup I've had in a long, long time. I could see this being a must-have future Costco item. Perfect notes of ham, potato, and sausage. I will be back again and again for it. I'll try the Texas chowder next time too. I had a lunch special slice of basil and cheese and pepperoni that hit every NY note. What a treat to have such a cute and authentic pizza place in the heart of DS. Thank you to Susan, my server for letting me relax and take it all in, some servers try to rush you so much. I also had the pleasure of meeting Joe and was very impressed. Love, love, love this place!

Pizza with toppings sliding

We ordered pizza and spaghetti/meatballs. The bill was between 50 and 60, including tip. The pasta wasn't great, and the pizza had a mishap in the car, toppings and cheese sliding to one side. When we got home we repaired the pizza as best we could. It looked terrible but tasted great. I'd suggest eating there. I'd give it 3-1/2 stars if I could. I wasn't in the mood to re-assemble the 'za.

kinda makes you hungry looking at it!
Scott S.

First thing I have to say about Pizza Cave - the people that work there couldn't be friendlier. Second, the spot is in a great location with fantastic hill country views and outside seating. Thirdly, and I've given this a lot of thought. They absolutely nail the pizza. Like the crust is the perfect thickness, crispness, and flavor. The light sauce and the cheese. Like, nicely done Mr. Cave, nicely done. Even felt like I was in NYC talking about how much snow we were going to get!

Crust and sauce are solid, ham and uncooked bacon only in the middle.

As it turns out the coupon was only good during the week and it was Saturday. No big deal. I ordered a Meatball Sandwich, my friend an Italian Sandwich (after asking our excellent young waitress about it). She brought out two very tasty types of bread with olive oil for dipping. The sandwiches came with Garlic Fries. The Fries were delicious but unfortunately mine were lukewarm. I certainly could have asked for a fresh portion, but was hungry enough not to bother. That's the reason my rating wasn't 5 Star. Because the restaurant was pretty empty on this Saturday afternoon, I feel the Chef shouldn't have sent out fries that weren't piping hot. The Meatball Sandwich however was marvelous. Freshly made, tasty meatballs with sauce and cheese on their focaccia bread was a real treat. I took half home and ate the rest for dinner. All in all, I'd come back here again as the food was excellent as well as the service.

I enjoyed my time here. Don't forget to get some gelato on your way out. The service was spectacular and the waiter was so knowledgeable about the menu . Now, let's get into what I ate. Appetizers: Bread- I'm not sure what the proper name for the bread is, but it was so good. The bread was like a warm hug. It had a welcoming taste. I can't even explain it fully. The texture was phenomenal. It was like a cornbread and a roll put together. Artichoke fritters- This dish surprised me. I didn't expect to like it so much. It was fried to perfection and flavorful. I honestly didn't need the sauce . Meatballs- The meatballs were the best I've had in my life. They were covered in a well prepared sauce. Entrée: Snapper with pesto pasta- My snapper was very flavorful. The only downfall of the snapper was the size. For the price, I expected a whole snapper. The pasta was good, but I'm not a huge fan of pasta. I also ordered brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were cooked very well. Dessert: Biscoff and almond gelato - This was a perfect ending to to a wonderful meal. The gelato flavors change often. I will definitely go again!

I reached out to get a reservation through Yelp and was able to speak directly to the owner who was able to get us set up with a reservation. She was extremely friendly and accommodating to make our day special. The entire team at the restaurant was the friendliest group of people I've ever dealt with in a restaurant. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and friendly during the duration of our stay. TOP NOTCH! Our server was great! Had great drink recommendations and basically advised on our entire order and he did not miss a thing! Was very knowledgeable of the menu and knew which wine would pair best with both of our dishes. Now the important stuff: the food. Started with a peach burrata that was ABSOLUTELY incredible. Bread was fresh, it was a light dish that packed a ton of flavor. We split one of the salads which was also incredible and packed with flavor (which you really have to do because people rarely say things like "I would love a salad right now.") I ordered the chicken Parmesan and it was probably the best chicken parm I have ever had in my life.the chicken was fried perfectly, the sauce was light but extremely fresh, and the pasta was cooked to perfection! The first red flag probably should have been the nearly empty parking lot, to the point where I honestly wondered if the restaurant was even open. We started with the cheesy garlic bread appetizer, and I was immediately disappointed. It looked more like something I would have gotten in a high school cafeteria lunch line than at an Italian restaurant. It barely had any garlic flavor, and it just wasn't what I expected. Then our entrees arrived. My shrimp scampi was completely lacking flavor, the shrimp were overcooked, and the pasta was sitting on a pool of water that made the whole dish feel off. My husband's carbonara was actually enjoyable, and that was really the only highlight of the meal. After the other dishes, I didn't even feel brave enough to try dessert. Also... can we talk about the TV playing a video on a loop of someone reviewing the restaurant and basically claiming it was the best Italian restaurant in the area? Someone definitely invested in that marketing, but unfortunately, based on our experience, it did not live up to the hype. I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it missed the mark.

It had so much flavor with just the right amount of heat, and honestly, it was one of the best surprises of the meal. And honestly, if it had been, the only thing I had had for my dinner, I would've been completely satisfied. The rest of the table ordered the Pesto Perfecto with Canadian bacon, chicken tenders and fries, and a kids' pepperoni pizza. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Alfredo sauce on my pasta tasted homemade, and the pasta portion was generous. There wasn't a lot of chicken in the dish, but I've noticed that seems to be pretty common lately when eating out. Even so, the pasta itself was flavorful and very satisfying. The bread that came with my meal wasn't my favorite--it was dense and chewy. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was great, and we'll definitely be back.

I remember eating here years ago when we first moved to the area back in 2015 ordered Pizza for my daughter-in-law's at home bridal shower and thinking the crust was like cardboard, so I never tried it again! I'll never eat here again. There are too many other good places around to eat why waste my time and belly on this junk food. Why are so many here?? The service was great though we are wondering how they stayed in business this long maybe with all the coupons bringing in people. Oh voted the best Italian food by a radio or tv station?!!! Are they joking? That's an insult to the better Italian restaurants we have nearby!! HOW CAN THEY SAT THAT!!
