This was my first time here at pizza chef! After hearing about bad reviews about this place I was curious and come to find out the food is awesome!!! I had the Buffalo ranch chicken pizza! The crust was cooked to perfection and the pizza wasn't greasy at all!! We had a group of about 20 people and food came out within 45 minutes of ordering! I recently dropped by here for an early supper. The restaurant is located within a nondescript strip-mall shopping building. Parking was ample, even if it meant walking a few dozen yards to the front entrance. I ordered the 12" Feta Supreme Pizza, and added extra onions. I was supremely impressed with how fresh all of the ingredients tasted. The waitress told me that the restaurant makes its own pizza dough from scratch. Also, they do the same thing for their sandwich bread. I had hoped that the feta cheese would have had more of a tangy flavor to it. Perhaps the heat of the pizza oven affected it? I really liked that they actually make their own tea in the restaurant the old-school way, with tea bags in a pot of boiling water on the stove. I hated that they served all of their drinks in styrofoam cups, though. The inside of the restaurant is rather modest, but seemed ample for the customers who decided to eat in. I noticed that there were at least half a dozen pick up orders during the time that I ate there. My waitress was attentive, informative, and friendly. I left her a decent tip because of it. It's my hope to return here again when I'm in the Jonesboro area. This place earned a solid four stars, and I wholeheartedly recommend this locally-owned pizza joint. read more

Everyone else in town should just close down and go away, Cardboard City for the rest of it, all other crust is like floor tile. Come on now, you don't have to go to Culinary school to know what tastes good. but you should know what doesn't taste good, NEVER SETTLE - 2- Calzone w/ Chicken, - where's the Chicken ? Small shreded micro pieces. Please work on that - for over order of $20 + very cheap on the portion. Give us our money's worth . . . They have a good thing going on over there but come on now. How about THIS - you pay what your customes do, (today $20+) get it home and see things can be a bit better. Not asking for the world here, but its expected things today are not thay way it used to be, but back then vendors built strong profits on loyal return business, not a one timers, who never return. The investment to the customer will show for the long run. Flavor and dough are great, - these guys would do OK in New York, but you would hear from your customers. They would let you know whats up with the menu, to offer a constructive word, then its your move. They would very much share their thoughts, especially if they see the potential of a satisfying neighborhood shop. Also competition is tight, - you can mostly only win them over once, Maybe twice. - about topping and portio size. As in most everything, there's always room for improvement. I see your in business for 25 years. Things are far different now, operating costs, rent, payroll, all way up. The point is, charge what you charge, but deliver on the little things, would a extra ounce of chicken wreck your bottom line??? It would have reduced this review substantially. None of these improvement suggestions will break the bank. The question is do you want to sell one Calzone with Chicken once or 10-15 time a year to this one customer . . The salads are fresh and amazing, I could drink the house dressing, it's so good! Another favorite of mine is the Italian sub, it's delicious! I used to work at this place part time after I finished my day at my full time job! The pizza is amazing and the service is great! Brian the owner takes pride in his business and community and it translates into how his business is ran! I have sent many people to this establishment over the years since I left and have gotten many thanks for the recommendation! The pizza toppings and sauce ratio were excellent, however the whole middle half of the pizza dough was on the soggy side. Got their version of supreme and the buffalo chicken and the flavor was there, just hard to thoroughly enjoy with it flopping down mid slice. Me and my coworkers love this spot. It has a great dining experience waiting with every trip to this location. Awesome fresh ingredients coupled with wonderful tasting dough create unique pies that we keep coming back for. It can get busy and parking is sometimes hard to find, but there's a vacant lot down from the place where the old Wendy's used to be, so don't let a packed house keep you from enjoying one of the Gems of Jonesboro! read more

Once a year or so, we are able to pop in to eat the best pizza in the country. Brian has been making pizza for 20+ years. We have our standard choices that are unique to Pizza Chef. Others may use the same names, but the flavor cannot be matched. Amore Roma, Le Gardeaux, among others are our standard choices. But, somehow other pizzas got into the 5 pies we took home that day. Some would say that it's too far to go to get the best pizza in the land - not for us. We gave Brian our hugs and hauled our bounty into the car. I had forgotten about this little local gem! We stopped in on a Saturday night and I was surprised to see how crowded it was. It's a small, seat-yourself restaurant with homemade doughs, breads, sauces, and dressings. The staff isn't overly friendly; more of a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of attitude. I honestly dont mind that if my food is good. We started with a small antipasto salad. I enjoyed the fact that the ingredients were fresh and not canned. The small was plenty for my husband and I to split as we waited for our pizza. The wait for our pizza was a long one (45+ mins) however, it was well worth it! We ordered the Meat Grande. It was piled full of various meats. It was one of those pizzas that is piping hot and when it separates from the pan, it is still connected by gooey, stringy cheese. The cheese stretch factor game was strong! I tried to let it cool a bit before diving in but it just looked too good. The flavor was outstanding, not much sauce which is perfect in my book. The crust had a bit of a crunch but soft inside. (We had a few pieces leftover and I'm happy to report that they are just as good for breakfast as they were for dinner!) Honey jars are placed on every table so you can enjoy dipping that last bite of crust into honey. Dinner and dessert all in one meal! ** Updated Review ** Originally I had given this place 3 stars, but after reconsideration I'm going up a star. The reasons for the upgrade: 1. Upon reconsideration, there are more toppings than the average pizza place, so I can't fully feel comfortable with my previous comments regarding toppings. I still don't say it's smothered...but it's above the average place. 2. The pizza excels at the bachelor "cold pizza" test. Even two days after ordered and in the fridge, the pizza is still good. It even heats up well in a microwave (which I don't prefer to do, I prefer my pizza stone, but if you're in a hurry you do what you have to do.) So overall, it's a 4 star place for me. The calzone still drives it down and there WAS a lack of toppings in that calzone. But I would put this ahead of chain stores now. read more

I love Pizza Chef. I usually go at lunch and I'll admit, I stick to what I like. A 1 topping pizza for 1 with soda is around $7. The calzones are awesome! I think the staff is very friendly and yes it does take time to get your food but so worth it. I got a free pizza once because they felt they had burned mine - so I had one for supper that night. I haven't really fed more than myself here, but I feel like the food is great and well worth the price you will pay. read more

I got the buffalo chick pizza. It was very good. Cheese had good taste, and the chicken was tasty as well, there was an above average amount of chicken on the pizza which I appreciated. The crust is a soft crust, which is what I prefer. They quoted me 20 minute pick up time, they were fairly busy and it was about 25 minutes to get the pizza. Would go back again for sure. read more

I absolutely love this place! It's not much to look at but the service and the food are fantastic! Location is "off the beaten path" but it's well worth the trip. My favorite pizza is the Ole' Mexicano...it's got a kick so if you have a delicate tummy, you might want to tell them to take it easy on the jalapeno. Sandwiches & salads are tasty too! I have loved Pizza Chef for years, be it delivery, takeout, or dine in. Recently they have instituted a minimum order charge to deliver north of Johnson Avenue. I only live one block north of their discriminatory line, but they won't waive the fee to deliver one pizza. Apparently this side of town is too rough for them so they are trying to price their way out of doing business here. They have lost a loyal customer. read more
