An extensive menu of pizzas, pasta dishes and salads is available - but I'm a sucker for an American Hot (pepperoni and jalopeno peppers), side salad, glass of house red and one of the gorgeous puddings! You know what you get with Pizza Express - reasonable meals at reasonable prices with a service that could be anywhere (at least that's what I have usually found). I can't knock it, the formula works well, but it isn't the hands on, home cooked meals I'd rave on about, although i know it is both hand made and cooked fresh. read more

Excellent customer service as I went with a friend who suffers from certain food allergies and they were more than happy to bring out a list of what was contained in the food so she knew what to order. This Resturant is located in the City Centre of Derby. This resturant offers a great service to its customers offering a wide range of pizzas and pasta. The Pizzas are cooked in front of you and the service is fairly good. When you get the pizza though you will chomp through it like there is no tomorrow! If you are due a Birthday suprise or simply want to go out for a meal one evening this is a great location to go. There are 2 Pizza Express in the Derby city centre. The one is located next to Derby cathedral. It is a nice and cosy place. They usually required reservation for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. They have a wide range of pizzas, pasta and salads. Staff is very nice and friendly, ready to help and explain everything. You don't have to wait very long to get your meal. Just as we set out to go for our late lunch, the threatening black sky that was present overhead, decided to drench us is in what can only be described as a deluge of rain! By the time we reached our lunch location, a rather modern looking Pizza Express at the top of Irongate, we realised that our showerproof coats were just that, and we were soaked! After a warm welcome from a member of staff, we presented him with our voucher, 3 courses for 2 people plus a drink. Lots of tables in the restaurant to suit all sizes of party, from groups to couples, the restaurant on our visit was about a third full. After perusing the menu and lamenting that our voucher didn't allow the tempting specials like the strawberries and cream dessert, we opted for the dough balls and garlic bread to start, both tasty and not overly filling, a good start. Other starters included mini risottos and bruschettas. The restaurant had a decent atmosphere to it, with non-intrusive, but modern background music. The mains arrived soon after the starters, with the course pacing at that point being just right. My wife had the Leggerra Pomodoro Pesto, a small ringed pizza with a salad in the middle; the pizza itself stacked with tomatoes, basil, pesto and garlic oil, a really tasty main course. I went for the Romana Etna, which is described as spicy, could have been folly if it had too spicy, but it wasn't, it had a kick but the hot soft n'duja sausage, roquito peppers, speck ham and Gran Moravia cheese, were a great combination. Definitely the best course of three. The menus for the dessert were a long time in coming as there was a large group dining, but it didn't matter, this was a great way to spend a damp Sunday afternoon. The summer pudding's sharpness complemented well with the mascarpone, and the Chocolate Glory was OK, nothing ground breaking. A slight misunderstanding with what constituted a drink on the terms of our voucher at the end of the meal, but on the whole a good meal in pleasant surroundings. read more

I haven't actually been to Pizza Express and tried the pizzas, as I had pasta the one time I have been. I have been told the pizzas and doughballs are tasty, so I will have to try them next time I go! Anyway, my experience at Pizza Express wasn't great. It had the atmosphere of a fast food restuarant and the waiter got our orders muddles up. The pasta was similar to what I cooked at home, but my partner ensured his pizza was out of this world. Value for money isn't great. I think they tend to rely on their image and take advantage of their customers, but with me only going there once I'm sure that my opinion will change. I shall visit the place soon again! read more

Typical pizza express - excellent food, good service, and delicious dough. The new saliccia [sp?] pizza is gorgeous, and well worth a taste, although I have to admit I went for the classic base, rather than romana. Top it all off with a stomach-churningly large sundae and all is good in the world read more

Not your usual pizza place. pizza express is much more classy and adult.The food is gorgeous and looks really nice as well, as opposed to other places where they just chuck the toppings on the pizza. The restaurant itself is very clean and hygienic and the staff are brilliant at helping with problems. read more

Great pizzas in a lovely location, near the cathedral - the restaurant has a fantastic interior and is very light and bright. You can watch the chefs preparing the food at the back of the restaurant. Staff are pretty good - have occasionally experienced delays, but never enough to put me off visiting. Menu is standard pizza express - you know what you are going to get, and its generally very good. Now offers a great children's menu, which comes with children's pack of crayons and puzzles. Toilets are up a spiral staircase, bar the disabled/babychange room, which has wipes/nappy bags etc provided, which is a nice touch. read more

The garlic bread with Mozzarella is to die for, the pizzas are authentic and freshly made to order. The house white is great!
