This shop serves very solid "Grandma Pizza" or "Nona Pies" if you're from the North Eastern US. The crust is like a denser Sicilian where the dough is not allowed to proof as long and is baked with less oil in the pan. The result is something that might make you think of a fancier version of the "deep dish" pizza from a sports stadium or your high school lunches.
The flavors are relatively minimalistic but do serve the home crowd as there are pies with hot dogs, potatoes, and other local flavors. Pizza sauces here are often simply crushed tomato, salt, some onion, and maybe some garlic. If you want something with a lot of different flavors, you probably won't be super satisfied here.
Should you come out of your way to eat here? Probably not. It's rolling distance from the Duomo though, and given that you're in a glorified outdoor mall, you can compare if favorably to almost any US mall food anyway. If you are going to be picky, cruise down to Eataly instead.
I think this is probably worth the experience if you split a slice as part of a pizza tour and don't spend your entire appetite on this one place. read more
