Finally got to try this pizza when I was in the area recently. It is definitely up there with some of the best in the city. It is a square slice, so not your typical thin NY style. Stopped in on a Friday night to get some unbaked to take home. I was able to walk up place my order and I was literally out the door with it within minutes. This is such a nostalgic place, grew up on it and don't have the chance to have it very often. It hit the spot tonight! My only regret was not ordering any warm slices that I could eat on the hour drive home!!! When you walk in, they have a big chalkboard on the right side with choices and prices, and then you place your order at the counter. They do not offer dine in. I am genuinely shocked to be writing this review. By all accounts, anyone would think that Ohio Valley Pizza is an abomination, since we know it's, uh, very controversial. But I was a convert the moment I tasted it. The dough is thick and flavorful, with an incredibly crunchy crust from the big iron pan. The sauce is very fresh--they make it daily, and you can see them ladling it out of a giant pan. And while the toppings are precooked and not as special as the rest of the pizza, you don't really notice that they're added cold, since the pizza comes out so hot from the oven that it heats the toppings in the box. Stopped in today for a quick pizza lunch, and as soon as I walked in I was asked how many cuts I wanted, and I said two. The employee told me that he was only gonna charge me for one, because someone before me paid it forward ... So is police station pizza under new ownership? Been going there my whole life... 40+ years and their pizza just isn't as good. The sauce tastes as though they opened up a can of tomato paste and slopped it on, they don't put on nearly as much cheese and toppings.... The crust isn't as crunchy... even the toppings seem of less quality... what a shame. It used to be my favorite pizza, but I won't be going back. This is the third time I've given it another shot. I grew up across the bridge in Aliquippa. I usually go to Breezy's but for some reason they weren't open this weekend so I came here. What a great decision on my part. It wasn't until I arrived and paid that they put my pizza together. Pizza come out in huge trays that they cut and have sitting on the counter. You tell them how many slices you want and if you want any toppings that you may want. They throw cold topping on and close the box and hand it to you. I forgot that the pizza is a big thicker than other Ohio Valley style pizzas. It not heavy, but thick and crunchy. Don't expect much when you go there as the shop is pretty old school, basic. Counter service ( no dine in) is unique and quick, just follow what everybody else does. All quality toppings are put on in abundance (recommend pepperoni and sausage ). One of the great local spots. Exactly the joint you want for a splice of pizza. Always ordered the pepperoni pizza: 10/10 every time. There's definitely some hometown bias here, but everyone I bring through loves it as well. The pepperoni has a nice bite. The sauce is simple but tasty, and the cheese is fresh. It's a thick square cut pie, which is a nice deviation from the norm. I can't say enough about it after all these years. So very sad of how badly the quality has gone down. About 6 weeks ago, walk in I am the only person in the shop. They have old pizza sitting out. That is what they gave me. Happened upon Pizza House while looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday night. The reviews sold me on it! People ordering from out of state, no matter the cost?! I was prepped for this pizza to knock my socks off. It took me a bit to find parking as there is no parking lot. I walked up and could not believe the amount of people inside!! I counted 20 people waiting for pizza! I had called ahead so I went right up to the counter to let them know I had arrived. It took about 10 minutes to get my pizza, but it was so interesting to be there for those 10 minutes. The two guys at the counter never wrote anything down but somehow kept everyone straight. They memorized everyone's names and knew exactly what there order was. There's no register for them to "ring up prices" they know them by heart no matter what someone is ordering. It was astonishing really! I was there with my one year old son so when they handed me my pizza they offered to help me to my car which was really nice of them! Unfortunately, I wasn't all that impressed by the pizza itself. To me it was an average slice of pizza. I'm shocked that people spend hundreds of dollars to have it shipped to them, but to each their own! Haha! If there is a definition for this place, it's no frills and fast. They must have had 10 people working, everyone with a job, knocking out slices left and right. Kudos to their team too as they had a lot of customers that were first-timers (myself included) and didn't scoff at any question that came their way. Nice crisp to the crust with the cold cheese on top (which I think is shredded provolone but don't quote me). Not something I'd crave everyday, but a delicious change of pace. They might scream cash only, but they do take cards. read more

my entire family has been coming to Pizza House aka Police Station Pizza for over 50yrs and loving it. A few years ago, the original family sold it to an employee that worked there. The pizza has steadily gone down hill since. The last several times we have gone there has resulted in less than good pizza and some of the comments have mentioned this. Anyone that loves this pizza knows it tastes best hot out of the oven because of the crust. We I ordered 16 and half of them were cold and obviously taken out way prior to my arriva. In addition, nearly every time they now do not put enough sauce on each piece. Basically dry pizza. Finally the cheese in my opinion is not the same that was used for years s and years. My opinion is the new owner has cheapened it to save money while raisin the cost per piece. I know they won best pizza award but honestly Im thinking even with the fact that the new owner has cheapened things, it is still good pizza. But again, they have changed so many things and not for the better, that I miss the old owner Al and how he was there everyday and personally made every pizza. No more! Sad! Wish the new owner would reconsider the current quality and return how the family made this pizza the best for the last 50 years! read more

You order by the size, which I actually really like that concept. Each slice is around $1 and and additional $0.25 per topping, so 5 bucks is gonna get you pretty far! The BEST pizza ever!!! It's been in business for prolly 50+ years. My parents who are in their 70's used to go when they were kids. The sauce is simple and full of flavor, the dough is super crunchy and the cheese is unexplainable on how good and tasty it is. Extra cheese UNMELTED with pepperoni is the way to go. Awesome staff of guys who will remember when you walked in, your place in line and how many cuts you want. Some of the guys have been there since I was a kid. Literally the best pizza around as I've taken it unbaked to family in Arizona(who's originally from the burgh) because they crave that "crunch". The best pizza I've ever had. I saw the reviews on yelp about how good it is so I felt like I had to try it. When you walk in, they ask you immediately how many slices and what you want on them. The pizza is already hot and fresh out of the oven. They top it with cold cheese and toppings and let the cheese melt as you take it home. When I was walking out of the shop with my pizza, on 2 separate occasions people came up to me to tell me how great the pizza is and how they were jealous I had some.
