I grew up on this pizza as a kid when the org location was in the Org Northway mall, then a second location opened in North Hills village. Would go to both back in the 80s and 90s all the time witb friends and get slices. I moved to Atlanta Ga in 1992, and have been here ever since. The present owner is someone I graduated high-school with. Andrew, he worked for the org owner for years at Northway and eventually bought the owner out when they retired. The restaurant is now and has been in Wexford for years. I come back to the Burgh 1to 2 times per year to visit still. I kid you not. Mama Lucia's is the first place I go as soon as I get into town. We order from the road, pick it up and take it back to my parents home. And many times hit a second time in store. The pizza is as awesome and same as it was as a child. This place is my all time top 3 of all pizza in the country. Writing this review is killing me knowing I now have to wait a tad over 2 months before I visit again. But my go to is the Sicilian with pepperoni and mushrooms. read more

Mamma Lucia's in the Village at Pine in Wexford is a great spot for pizza! They offer both dine-in and take-out options, and the atmosphere is lively with a fun bar and great drink specials, including a solid happy hour. I couldn't resist trying their signature Sicilian pizza, which is baked in a deep square pan the old-world way. It's definitely a taste you won't forget! Keep in mind that it takes about 30 minutes to bake, so plan ahead, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Also tried their buffalo chicken grinder, which was a great sandwich as well!!! read more

We got takeout from here on a Sunday. Food was prepared within the estimated time. The food here is expensive, and while this is definitely good pizzeria food, I'm not sure the quality matches the prices, so beware. We ordered the 8 cut Neapolitan, which was awesome. I haven't found a good pizza place in the area that makes a good Neapolitan. It is a bit greasy but has great flavor. Also got a sausage calzone and a chicken parm grinder. Both were delicious. Lastly, we got some garlic knots but they weren't very good. They were way too dense. All-in-all, great tasting food but it will cost you, and you might ask yourself why afterwards. read more

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a Monday, and it was a blast from the past. I remember the original Northway Mall location from way back in the late 70's. I grew up within walking distance, and have fond memories of going to the arcade with friends before heading over and grabbing a slice before the walk home. I just moved back to PA this past spring after 30 years out-of-state, and so I had to see if was still the same. I used to always get the Sicilian pie, so that's what we ordered. It was basically as I rembered it - thick, chewy, and messy! I'm happy to see that the tradition continues, if in a bit more sterile suburban environment. This is not the best pizza in the area, but I enjoyed every bite. The place was clean, the staff was very friendly, and I'll be back for some more nostalgia soon. read more

Pizza is somewhere between the nostalgia of Sbarro slices & NYC $1.99 slices, with a strong marinara and plenty of cheesy gooey goodness on each slice. Garlic bites were probably my favorite. Best Pizza on this side of the North Hills BY FAR.... I get the Square light sauce well done. Well aged dough/ cunchy crust etc. The round is more or less NY style without the over herbed cheap sauce. More like fresh tomatoes. 5 stars for great pizza and fresh ingredients. We ordered a Neapolitan pizza and cheese wedges last night for pick up. It took the allotted time given to fulfill the order.on what seemed like a busy Saturday dinner service. Staff was polite and customer friendly. The restaurant was clean. When we got home to enjoy our food it was apparent cheese wedges were done well before pizza and needed a reheat...not a big deal. They were fine but the sauce that came with them was not my favorite. Which brings me to the pizza...sauce not great, the whole pizza was overly salty and crust was meh. I have had the Sicilian pizza from here and remember it being very good but that was a number of years ago. So maybe it was just the style of pizza we ordered. Would go back to try the Sicilian to see if it is still good. I would not order the Neapolitan again as it was not very good to me. read more

I explained that she is a service dog and he yelled that he didn't care and to get out. I told him she could legally be there and it was illegal what he was doing . Pizza Pizza We came, we saw, and we ate. We ordered 2 pies (1 for there and 1 to-go). The gents serving us were not the most emotive. Not happy, not sad, not mean. Just take your order and move on. They were not extremely busy either. We ordered a half meat lovers / half pepperoni pizza. We noticed that the pie was cooked all the way (hot) but did not have the upper burner affect - pepperoni's did not curl and develop the crispy edges. The first slice - - crust was on point - passed the stand test. - cheese was stringy like you want to see - pepperoni was meh - sauce - had good flavor but was a little acidic for my taste The second and third slices (because of the oil / grease) did not pass the stand test and became a little more gummy. This place sells individual slices. I bet these are really good because they are all fresh. While our pie was fresh, it just did not hold up. This was not a bad pizza and is based on my preference. But the attitude of the owners/employees and the service is horrendous. Look, you come here for the NY experience and you get it, attitude and all. What's amazing to me is with a little common courtesy and appreciation for their customers, this could have been a concept that would have made hundreds of millions in franchising. The place gives a nice impression from the outside and looks clean and good for an Italian pizza place. The selection of pizza by the slice was decent. I ordered two slices and some garlic knots. The food came quickly and was delicious. The only drawback was the demeanor of the two gentlemen working this evening. Both men seemed grumpy and generally annoyed that I was in their establishment giving them business. Had it not been for two other groups eating, I'd have asked for my food to go. Hopefully they were just having a bad day. I would definitely eat again from this establishment, but my food would probably be takeout. read more

I am not able to rate the quality of their food because they haven't been open the two times we've tried to go. The first time, I looked up their hours on their website which states until 9 PM Monday through Thursday. We went around 7 PM, and they were closed. Today I CALLED and asked what time they would be open until and was told 7/7:30 PM. We arrived at 6:30 PM to locked doors and had to put our two year old back in the car crying that he wanted dinner. Their pizza is great and we've spent hundreds if not thousands here over the years, but we won't be ordering from here again until we get an apology. Last week my grandfather in law in his 80s mistakenly ordered here when he meant to order somewhere else. He got an angry call from someone at the restaurant asking where he was to pick up his food. After realizing his mistake, my grandfather asked if my wife and I could pick it up and give them a tip for the trouble. I immediately left home and was outside the doors when I found out they told him "we already sold it". All this occurred within 30-45 minutes. In the course of him trying to make Mama Lucia's whole, they hung up on him multiple times. He knew we loved the restaurant and was embarrassed to tell us that they yelled at him/hung up on him and later found out through another family member. I don't care how good the pizza is... we won't be coming back until the owner apologizes to my grandfather for being rude and hanging up multiple times WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO FIX HIS MISTAKE!!!! PS. Ordered a Sicilian pizza, was told the wait was an hour by phone, went over at the time, and was told it would be a few minutes when I arrived. It was 45 minutes later and I'm still waiting, and because of social distancing I had to stand. When I asked at 40 minutes, the jerk with the bald head there, said "That's the way of the world"!! Not a "sorry lady" that you are standing here waiting for 40 minutes after you have already waited an hour, but a RUDE and INAPPROPRIATE response! I honestly thought supporting a local business was best, but I guess not. To top it off, this occurred after I worked 11 hours as a nurse that day. This is the best pizza this side of Brooklyn! Well in the north hills anyway. Having grown up in Queens & Brooklyn I know great NY thin crust pizza when I taste it. The Sicilian (square) pizza is also terrific. When you get toppings they are plentiful, cut well and taste great. We have ordered take out here plenty of times and ate in here too. They have a large dining area with plenty of seating. Granted the tables could be wiped down better but no big deal. My only minor criticism is the staff always seems cold and not very friendly, but maybe it's an authentic NY attitude served with the NY style pizza. read more

This place has been first rate since its opening. When you're nestled in between great pizza places like the Oven and Cencis you need to try harder. We've been wanting to try this place out for a while now. We weren't missing much. The fried mushrooms were ok, but the marinara sauce was runny and added nothing to the appetizer. My wife, the pizza lover, said that the crust of her cheese pizza was nice and thin and crispy but the sauce tasted funky. She said she would not get it again. I ordered a steak calzone. I love calzones. Not this one. Good thing I love mushrooms, because there was barely any steak but a lot of mushrooms. It was a great size, but I prefer quality over quantity and would not get it again. The marinara sauce looked more promising this time but it fell short as well. For $35 there are a number of places that we'd rather give our money to; you should do the same. read more

I'm not sure what all of the bad reviews are about; Mama Lucia's is a great choice for inexpensive, delicious food. I've only ever had pizza here in the three times I've been because it was very good. Others I've brought along would contend, and some also enjoyed the garlic knots. While some people are irritated by picking up your own order and taking it to a table yourself, I thought that for a slice of pizza in a casual environment, it makes more sense. I've been eyeballing this place for a couple months, thinking it might be the same Mama Lucia's of downtown Pittsburgh Wood Street fame. Sadly, not. I should have known the minute I stepped in the door and couldn't find gnocchi on the menu that it wasn't the Mama Lucia's I was looking for (I have since learned I needed to go a few more miles toward town where the REAL ML is tucked at the back of Northway Mall). I didn't really see anything else on the menu that interested me and left. WHY OH WHY didn't I keep on walking?!?!? I went back in and asked if I could just have a couple meatballs and a salad. Sure. No problem. I added a couple garlic knots to my order. The salad was nothing more than broken up iceberg, a few (not good) croutons and one anemic tomato wedge with a couple onion slivers. With end-of-summer tomatoes still available, a hothouse sliver of mealiness is just lame. The dressing (Italian) was 90% oil and 100% tasteless. The meatballs were swimming in a very acidic sauce. The sauce wasn't much more than pureed canned tomatoes. No seasoning was detectable. The meatballs themselves were a step above the Costco/Sam's Club frozen crap. They weren't quite as rubbery but less rubbery does not make for a good meatball. I wouldn't bet on them being manufactured but there had to be an extra "let's freeze these suckers" in their life cycle. The garlic knots were the worst. I think they are baked and then baked again. They put the ubbery in rubbery. Maybe chubbery is a better description - uber chewy and rubbery all at the same time. And totally bathed in big chunks of garlic. Too much garlic. Rule of thumb - if you're eating garlic, but your mouth doesn't know if you ate garlic or a poblano, it's too much garlic!! I brushed off all the garlic, peeled off the burnt top and tried another bite. Still inedible, but not as firey. So here's the summary: Salad...naked...edible Salad...dressed...inedible unless you like oily flavorless iceberg Sauce...the worst I've ever had but slightly better than tomatoes straight from the can Meatballs...inedible Garlic knots...inedible The ordering/serving arrangement is a little weird. I didn't know whether it was "sit and order" or "order and sit." It seemed like the people ahead of me were doing the "order and sit" so I followed suit (I am a lemming). When I was handed my salad, I was told I could sit and they would bring the rest so hey! It's both! So weird. To take it one more step into weirdness, when the waitress (?) brought the meatballs, I asked if I could have parmesan. Her reply: "It's up at the counter." I was kind of surprised at the total. Nearly $9 for a nondescript salad, two small-to-medium size meatballs and three garlic knots (just water to drink). As others have said, there's a tip jar at the register. Give me a break. I hate someone thinking because they've gone to the enormous effort of taking my order and my cash that I should tip them. Hey owners - pay your employees. Please! Hey employees - unless you are coming to a table to take an order and then deliver the food and check back to refill drinks, get additional whatevers and ask for a dessert order, don't expect a tip! The one redeeming factor with this visit - Pierogies is a couple doors down. Not flawless, but it got the bad taste out of my mouth. read more

This is the best pizza in the North Hills, I kid you not. We order pizza every Friday night and I try to order from some different pizza place each week. Some I never go back to and some are regulars. We order this last Friday and I am going back this Friday as well. Excellent crust, great cheese, good sauce, YUMMY!
