trying to order on line but could not find the list of toppings, called the store and was told they were closed. The web site said open and the time of closing was 9:30. I called at 8:45 and when I mentioned that I thought they were open until 9:30 I was told no we are closed. Pizza was just ok. With so many options in Pittsburgh, it's hard to compete. They were a little busy and construction in the area took awhile. The calzone was the best part. First off - the guys that work here are just so nice and friendly. I ordered via phone - 16 cuts - plain cheese - but did ask for a little extra sauce on it :). They told me it would be about 25 min and man - they were spot on! The guy was literally packing it up as I walked in! They have a shared parking lot - lots of spots - so no worries there! I absolutely love a crispy crust, square cut pizza. DiCarlo's, Beto's...and now you can add Jimmy Z's to the list. Bonus: their Castle Shannon location (there's another in Houston, PA) is closest to home for me of all of these. Jimmy Z's crust is twice baked, making it the crispiest of the bunch. They use fresh-squeezed tomatoes and a blend of 100% real cheese and it is just so good!! I've visited a few times now and the people are also incredibly nice. It's clear they believe in their product, enjoy what they are doing and appreciate your business. I have yet to try anything but the pizza, but their other offerings include Strombolis, hoagies and cheese garlic bread (very high on my to-try list). My first couple of times here, I didn't think ahead and stopped in on a whim, ordering at the counter and sticking around while they prepared my slices. This time, I thought to go to the website to see if there was online ordering and placed my order in advance. You order by the cut, and there was a small, $1.50 total convenience charge for the order which I didn't mind in exchange for my time and just considered an addition to my tip. They quoted a time and when I arrived it was just coming out of the oven. Perfection! This is probably my favorite South Hills pizza place currently. read more

Been ordering from here for a long time - one of the most unique pizzas in the south hills. Yesterday I ordered via DoorDash and guess the dasher decided not to pick up my order at 9:25 PM. New pizza place? I'm all in! First of all, I love me some square cuts and this place does it right! The sauce is delicious (hand squeezed tomatoes) and the crust - O!M!G! - it's twice baked so it's the right kind of crunchy- it was really a delicious and delightful surprise. Oh and don't get me started on their garlic bread - stuffed with cheese????? Yes, please! The crust is pre-cooked. Sauce is then baked on. Chees goes on after the pizza is cooked. The sauce was thin and smooth and the crust was crispy. Many people compare this place to Beto's, but Beto's has a sauce that is much too chunky compared to most pizza places. The pizza was hot and ready when I picked it up. Some have complained of cold pizza, not here. The pizza was kept on top of the oven and was hot even after I drove 12 minutes home to eat it. My wife tried it a few hours later. She said, "Where the heck is this from?" and "This doesn't look good!" She ended up eating four slices because she realized how good the flavor is. We both remarked and it sums up the review of this place - Oddly Satisfying. read more

The good: Ordered from the car on a Saturday evening and they said they would have it ready in 10-15 minutes so I'm impressed with the fast service. The pizza itself is good. Loved the sauce made of crushed tomatoes and when you ask for extra cheese you get extra cheese. The bad: They needed to either cook it a little longer or they need to work on how to effectively keep it hot while waiting for pickup. Usually when we pick up pizza I am in the passenger seat and have to hold up the box to avoid my legs getting uncomfortable from the hot box. There was NO HEAT. The box felt cool to the touch. We only live about 5-10 minutes from the shop. Sure enough, we got home and the pizza is room temp at best. We had to fire up the oven and basically cook it ourselves. read more

If you like cheese and a great taste - Jimmy Z's is for you. I will say, that the pizza doesn't look the best. And the cheese on top was able to slide off very easily while eating it. But man, each bite was absolutely PACKED with flavor. I ordered a plain cheese pizza (6 slices) with bacon on top. Seeing as how YaYa's is the only place I'd order from in the area - I'll definitely be ordering Jimmy Z's again in the near future. Give it a try. What do you have to lose? read more

could've been better. yeah, that about sums it up..... this place has been open a little while now, so we figured, gotta try it sometime. we were out shopping when i called to place an order. we'd pick it up on our way home. the guy said it would be about 25 mins. ok, we may have to wait a little. we got there kinda fast, about 10 mins. tom went inside to wait. & we waited, for about 20-25 ins. we took it home, & put it in the oven while we changed clothes. tom said the pizzas were looking good while he waited, so we were excited to try ours! we sat down, put 2 pieces each on the plates, & dove in. they were ice cold! we put all but the 2 we had started to eat back in the oven & turned the oven up higher!. even the 3rd & last piece we each took were still not hot! i like cold pizza, who doesn't? but when i bring it home after waiting 30ish mins. for them to cook it, i expect it to be hot! also, the crust was a little "mushy" under the sauce. and canned mushrooms? really? buy fresh! the pepperoni was a little cheap. 3 pieces on a slice? those slices are too big to only get 3 pieces! 4 at least! we ate the other 6 the next day, heated up nice & hot. but they still weren't that good! not really impressed. mostly disappointed. read more
