If you're looking for Filipino pasta that's sweet and contains sliced hot dogs dyed red, you definitely won't find it here. Al Bacio serves authentic Italian dishes made by an Italian chef, who uses fresh ingredients and takes pride in all his dishes. Let me quote myself from my first review: "First glance at the menu might make you say that it's quite pricey; but if you factor in the price of importing quality goods from Italy, the effort it takes to make everything in house (dressing, sauces, bread, pasta, and pizza dough) AND the VIP treatment you get from the wonderful staff: the price point is completely reasonable." This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants: cozy atmosphere, warm staff, and delicious food. I love that the waitstaff and chef are eager to accommodate any requests within reason. We always leave here relaxed, with satisfied tastebuds, and happy bellies. Mangiamo!

If you want to overpay and get bad food with poor service, then come here, you will not be disappointed. Amare by Chef Chris should follow the lead of its namesake and RIP. Made with fresh crab with a light crisp exterior topped with mango relish - New York Nachos topped with sirloin chunks, chili con carne, pico de gallo, cheese and jalapeños. Comes with sour cream and guacamole (not up to the standard of California avocados) - I make my own chili con carne from scratch, so I wasn't fond of their version, but hubby ate it up! - Blackened Chicken sandwich with smoked bacon - delicious soft bun, thick cut bacon, it had good flavor. American size portions (not tiny Filipino size) with prices that are reasonable, considering the high quality of their ingredients. Also don't be afraid to make requests: they have corn fritters and a cafe mocha that aren't not on the menu. Servers actually come by and asked "How's your food?", this is the first time I've ever heard anyone here in the Philippines ask that! If you need anything, you just need to give the servers a knowing glance, and they'll quickly come. They're always close by keeping an eye out for you. FYI: the standard around the Philippines is that the servers won't check in on you unless you need them. That's why many places have call buttons, or the staff stand around waiting for you to call them. The restaurant has maybe 30 tables and seems to cater to diners interested in fresh seafood boils - reminded me a lot of what I've seen and partaken of in southern Louisiana, with steamed crawfish and fresh seafood. The restaurant was well-lit, spotlessly clean, and well-managed. I went in at the door and immediately met a staff member who offered me my choice of seats. Picnic table seating, spacious and comfortable. No alcohol (which was pretty much the case everywhere I went except for the hotel bars). I was staying at the Belmont Hotel just a couple of blocks down the street and had no difficulty finding the Orange Bucket based on what was posted online. I had the beef bulgogi (641 PSP) - perfect! With (I believe) rice noodles and an A&W root beer (90 PSP). Perfect sized for a hungry traveler, seasoned just like I remember from my time serving with the US Army in Pusan, Korea.
