Decided to give it a go after a year of being in town. Wife and I ordered a half cheese half pep and it looked good but the sauce tasted burnt the dough was dry and lacked any seasoning or oil. Pizza King is a tradition in my family. We LOVE it. The retro diner decor and friendly waitstaff lend to a good, relaxed atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable. You can even order root beer in a frosty mug. Tonight we ordered one salad with mozzarella added and their addictive house ranch-like dressing, and it is always enough for us to split four ways. We each ordered which pizza we wanted because we like taking home the leftovers. It looks like we are feeding ten people, but at least we know what's for breakfast tomorrow. The pizza crust really shouldn't be called pizza crust, it should be called cracker crust, they then add a little sauce and pile of enough other things to try to hide the crust... if doesn't work. Piling the pizza an inch thick with toppings does NOT a pizza make. I don't order the pizza, I order the sandwich which is ok, except for a slight weird taste that I've never been able to pin-point. I have ordered their spinach lasagna, nothing fancy but eatable. I'm sorry for the bad review, but I really don't like their food or service. That being said, I love looking around the place, and enjoy my family's company(who for the most part love the food, sorry they don't like the wait staff either.) I've been dining at Pizza King since I was a little kid. I still remember the old building... There's just something about the pizza (the sauce, the toppings, the crust), that makes it superior to most any I've ever had. Anytime I come back to visit family, I call and I've got a pizza waiting on me for when I pull into town. Sad? Maybe. But the pizza is delicious. The salads are also very tasty, always have fresh ingredients. The best dressing is their house, it's a garlic ranch and is divine. I've never had their sub sandwiches or spaghetti, in the 25+ years I've been eating here...but I've heard they are delicious. It's a great family owned, local pizza joint. I had heard for many years how great Pizza King is. Finding myself in Longview, I decided to give it a try. The prices are very good, and my waiter was great. I ordered a pepperoni, mushroom, sausage and jalapeno pizza. It looked awesome. The crust was crispy, just how I like it. But I kept getting a taste of bacon, which I didn't ask for. I'm just not a fan of bacon on my pizza. I don't know if they use bacon or bacon grease in their pizza sauce, or if they put bacon on my pizza, or if the pepperoni or sausage has a bacon taste. But I didn't like it. Also, it occurred to me that the overall taste was fairly bland. I would definitely give it another try. I just wouldn't drive to Longview from Tyler just for Pizza King. Hey, Tyler has Bruno's. No real need to go anywhere else. Pizza King is very popular, and I can't knock them for that. They were quite busy on the Friday evening I was there. While there wasn't even one car in the Pizza Hut lot right down the street. The place did remind me of old school pizza parlors, which sadly we don't have enough of any more. And while I didn't have my usual beer with my pizza, I noticed that a mug of beer is only $2.50. That is awesome. While so many restaurants charge 5 or 6 bucks for a bottle or mug of beer, the fine folks at Pizza King are keeping it real. read more

Can't comment on pricing or restaurant, as I was fed carryout on the job, but the pizza was pretty good. Hand tossed, with good sauce and cheese and toppings. The crust is really what holds this pizza back. It was almost unleavened, like hardtack. It's really a shame the crust was lackluster. read more
